3.8 Hazy golden color; Medium creamy body; Aroma of yeast, rich citrus, floral/fruit, & spice; Flavor of sweet malt, yeast, citrus hops, fruit, caramel, and some spice; Warm dry finish; Pretty decent.
4.4 Bottle from Brewtopia. Opaque golden orange with white head and lotsa lace. Tangerine orange pineapple mango floral aroma. Sweet tangerine mango with some breadiness and orange citrus finish with some spicy bitterness. Medium full creamy wheaty (?) body. Nice soft carbo. Wicked fucking delicious. Might even be better without the orange peel. Not sure that’s necessary.
3.6 Bomber shared by Chalumeaux. Thanks, TJ! Pours golden brown with a big off white head. Aroma is caramel, malt, citrus. Flavor is caramel, banana, clove. Grapefruit and orange citrus in the finish. I usually don’t care for hoppy Belgians, but this is decent.
3.8 Poured from 22 oz bottle cloudy brown gold color with a nice two finger white head. Aromas of belgian yeast hop clove and bananna. Taste is caramel malt orange typical belgian but a hint of hop in the finish. Not bad.
4.2 12-FEB-2016, bottle @Ulkløbben meeting, @Morten. Hazy orange with a White head. Citrus, orange, grape fruit, caramel. Very bitter. Really malty but not a Belgian Strong Ale. More to the IIPA side.
4.0 Decent white head misty yellow pour strong carbonation aromas candy tropical notes pine citrus spice yeast grain floral the flavours candy passionfruit clove nutmeg lime orange wheat pine resin grapefruit lovely mix a bitter note grain touch good the finish aftertastes are good candy yeast floral citrus pine sweetness a cracking Triple
3.9 Bottle. Clear golden pour, tiny white head. Floral head, taste is fruity with an abrupt bitter finish. Full body, soft carbonation.
4.1 Big bottle to little snifter. Cloudy honey in the glass. Stiff bubbly head. Orange and coriander on the nose. Nice orange citrus carried through to a malty dry finish. Bright and boozy enough to warm my cockles.
2.5 Poured into a snifter. 3.25 A: Murky copper color. Two fingers of off-white creamy/frothy head. Retention is good and a short ring of lacing is left. 3.0 S: Quite sugary. Cake frosting, peach, lemon. Lots of citrusy and grassy hoppiness. Yeasty breadiness, banana chips, and something quite distinct that my mind can’t identify right now - something like a persimmon. Also a touch of vegetal aroma. 3.0 T: The taste has no real focus. It’s moderately bitter and the predominant flavor is yeastiness. There’s peach, lemon, and banana fruitiness, but there’s also a lack of tripel spiciness. Less sugary than nose, but still there. Bready and biscuity. 3.0 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Chewy, but lacking spritziness or creaminess, which is what I like in the style. 2.75 D: Eh, it’s okay, but it doesn’t work well as either an IPA or a tripel. ★ 880 characters DavoleBomb, Sep 18, 2015
4.2 Bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy gold with a huge head that dissipates to a thin layer with excellent lacing. Aromas of toffee and herbs. Flavors of sweet malt--stone fruits, toffee, black pepper, fresh bread and herbal hops. Lingering bitterness. Noticeable booziness. Sticky mouthfeel. Very nice.
4.2 Great flavors of candied fruits, candi sugar, citrus fruits and citrus hops. Overall a nice hoppy tripel that doesn?t seem as big as it is... But welcome to Belgian beers.
3.7 Bottle, 650ml. Murky golden/amber with a frothy offwhite head. Deep citrus and belgian yeast aromas. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Lightly sweet with a dense fruity and alcohol bitterness. Heavy and complex. Barely any IPA elements other than a light hopiness. A fine ale
4.0 Bottled 06.04.15. Light golden color, with a faint copper/honey hue. Frothy, creamy white head. Strong AM hoppy aroma, melon, light fruit, floral, pine. Cane sugar, residual sweetness, moderately low Belgian type yeast character. Alcohol presence is noticeable but complimentary to a bready type malt profile. Very clean fermx profile. Pine type slickness blends well with a creamy yeast character down the palate. Moderately high in dryness on backend, co2 astringent bite is low, lingers with a leafy, medicinal hop feel. Very enjoyable, especially considering age. Orange marmalade to a tee.
3.3 650ml bottle from Sonoma Cellars, cellar aged 8 months and served at cellar temperature. Pours an unclear golden orange with a beige head leaving very little lace. Aroma has sweet malts, tangy belgian yeast, and some fruits. Taste is of sweet caramel, spices, a bit of pine, some oranges, and tangy belgian yeast. Medium bodied with some alcohol. Finishes sweetly tangy with some length. Not the brew to begin an evening with. 13.2
3.9 22 oz bottle. Bottled on 6/4/15. (Food Pantry) Honolulu, HI. My rating #9,000. Hazy yellow color with a small white head. Nice fruity hops, orange, yeast, wheat and malt in a fresh aroma. The flavor is dry hops, yeast, wheat, mild bitterness, alcohol and some spices. Balanced and tasty. And the label seems to be me and my wife on our honeymoon walking at the Waikīkī Beach...
4.2 Rating #1181 - 15.07.2014 Bottle from CBI. Clear golden pour with a giant head with decent retention. Gorgeous, tropical aroma billows out - pineapple, mango, passionfruit. Taste is definitely full bodied, good yeast character, and just enough spice to be pleasant and refreshing. Generously hopped, assertive bitterness. Phenomenal blend of the tripel and IPA styles.
3.9 Yeast, pine, citrus. Pours a cloudy honey gold with a big foamy thick white head that lasts a good while. Super fruity. Thick soft mouthfeel. Nice bitter edge on an otherwise very smooth beer. Nice booziness.
3.5 Bottle @ Voldby øl-messe. Pours hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma of light malt, yeast, caramel, fresh fruity hops, peach, citrus. Flavor is malt, caramel, yeasty, fruity hops. Medium body, soft carbonation, light sweet finish with warming alcohol. 290815
3.7 Beer pours a hazy brownish straw and has a thick creamy cap floating on top. Fist impression is a big MEH! Some big hops in the nose with lemon and vinnilla. Beer is starting to grow on me. Taste is the same maybe a soapy finish. Hopity hop hop aru. Lemon and banana / wheat really show in the finish. Beer is growing on me........ ya I can drink this........... a lot. Perfumey and bitter all at once.
3.7 1pt 6lf oz bottle from Brewdog online store. Clear coppery orange-amber colour with an off-white foam head and aroma of citrus zest & yeasty funk. Taste is malt, caramel, toffee, earthy, with some yeasty notes, orange marmalade, citrus grapefuit and resiny hoppy grassy bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry earthy bitter slightly boozy finish. Nicely drinkable.
2.2 I must not have a great. A good bottle based on the other reviews. The beer in my glass seems oxidized. It has a caramel sweet, hoppy honey marmalade aroma. It smells sweet. The flavor follows the same lines of the aroma with a more pronounced hop bitterness. One reviewer mentioned soapy for the mouthfeel and I think it has similarities. The beer is somewhat overcarbonated. Which leaves a slight hop bite on the tongue. The alcohol doesn’t seem to show it self at first but by the 3rd sip, trust me it’s there. Personally to many contradictions for this "style". It may play out great in the winter months. I would buy again but would certainly try it again if offered.
3.4 Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of tangerines and oranges. The taste is as expected from a Belgian style beer, a sweetness together with the hoppy taste and a dry bitter finish. I caught some alcohol notes as well, even if it is well hidden. The mouthfeel is rather sharp and slightly soapy. Bold in it’s style.
3.8 Restrained spicy, grassy, floral, citrus aroma in an hazy amber pour. Wonderfully complex flavours makes this a benchmark of the American take on the style. Makes up in taste what it might lack in subtlety compared to the best of the Belgian brews.
3.5 Bottle shared by Duchammer: Poured a hazy yellow with white head. Aroma was fruity and hops. Taste is hoppy, soapy, aloe and yeast.
2.9 Cloudy and highly aromatic. Flavor is hoppy. Expect this brew to set you straight as the alcoholic content is high.
4.4 Cloudy Amber with lasting foamy beige Lacy head; aroma slight hop and yeasty combo; flava is unique blend of hops yeast and malt- this is described as a Belgian Tripel IPA- they absolutely nailed it if that is what they were trying to do; feels medium to thick slight fuzzy foam; finishes grainy tangy and slightly hoppy then bitter
3.9 bottle @ Vino Bellissimo / Lima OH --- Murky dark orange amber color, thick frothy white head, straps of lace. Good aroma of sweet malt and citrus. Taste is strong malt and toffee that moves smoothly thru a swallow that includes citrus hops and warming alcohol. The hops are interesting, but not nearly enough to offset the malt. A potent brew, quite complex, and nice to drink. Highly recommended.
4.1 650ml bottle. Golden orange color with off white head. Aroma is caramel malty, light yeasty spicy, hoppy, citrusy fruity. Sweet and bitter taste. Medium oily body with soft carbonation
4.1 Pours strong black in color. Has off white in head and lacing. Strong chocolate and malt flavors a d aromas
3.6 On tap at Gilly's Craft Beer & Fine Wine in Rockville, MD. Very hazy, amber orange with a small off-white head and very good lacing. Aroma of pineapple, apple, passion fruit, banana, orange, spices and bread. Taste of passion fruit, peach, mango, pineapple, orangey citrus, banana and bread. Medium body and medium carbonation.
