3.7 November 13, 2015 - bottle from AV3 a long time ago. Very dark pour with limited head. Aroma was sweet malt, bourbon and chocolate. Taste started out sweet, moved into a mild bourbon and finished too dry and roasty for me.
4.3 Poured from a 22oz bomber at home. Aroma has bourbon, chocolate, vanilla. Taste is complex and very good. Mouth feel is how a imperial stout should be. Fantastic tasting beer
4.1 650 mL bottle. Pours oily brown. Complex aroma and flavour with smoke, roast, booze, mocha, coconut, and maraschino cherry. Good body. Outstanding beer.
4.2 Bottle from Berkeley Bowl West. Pours near black with a tiny tan head and a marvelous treacle aroma. There is a full-bodied dark molasses flavor with lots of smoke, a bit of chocolate and a bourbon finish.
4.0 Super dark goodness with no head. Great aroma of roasted malt, dark fruit. Really good. Taste of roasted malt and alcohol.
3.4 Bottle shared by Adrien, thanks! Pours dark brown with an off white head. Aroma is dark chocolate, spent coffee grinds, bourbon vanilla oak. Flavor is dark chocolate, licorice, warm bourbon and tannic oak in the finish. Sorry, this is a little too tannic for my taste.
3.8 Bomber Bottled on 4/18/2013. Nice aroma of whiskey right up front, mild chocolate, Burnt sugar with weak hints of licorice. Lightly sweet bourbon with burnt sugar, the hints of licorice and some lingering chocolate in the finish. Medium to fuller body with a mildly creamy texture. Pretty nicely done stout.
3.4 Thanks Adrien for sharing. Bottled - 4-18-2013. Pitch black, brown edges. no light goes through at all. almost no head either. The nose is very strong, tons of wood, a lot of sweet vanilla and whiskey, chocolate candy bars and licorice. Oh yeah, this is pretty flavorful but almost like chewing on cheap candies, overly sweet, lots of butterscotch and licorice and old oranges, something else weird and plastic-like. The finish is very bitter and almost like a solvent. but for what it’s worth, I like this beer despite some of the off flavors.
4.0 I let this age for a year and a half bottle date 4/13 drinking it on 10/14, it’s like a milk stout without the lactose. So malty....This is a strong beer!
4.1 "Mmmmeaty. I should really lead the back of the label. When I bought this, I "just" thought I was getting a bourbon version of the very good base beer (which isn’t smoke like their Vampire Slayer is). Well...glad I was wrong. Solid beer across the board. This was a big chewy monster of a stout, but not too much at 12.5%. The fudgy roasted stout, smoke, and bourbon are all prevelant and share the stage well, in the nose and on the tongue. Nicely done.
4.4 5/VII/14 - 1Pt. 6Fl. Oz. bottle @ RBBSG III (Gent) - BB: n/a (2014-763) Thanks to Sebletitje for sharing the bottle! Clear dark brown to black beer, small aery beige head, irregular, pretty stable. Aroma: lots of vanilla, sugary, caramel, sweet touch, crème brûlée. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: lots of vanilla, caramel, sugary and sweet, alcohol, pretty boozy, dark chocolate. Loved this one!
3.7 From notes: It was poured from a bottle it is a dark brown no head The aroma is chocolate and the taste is a milk chocolate
3.6 Bottle 66cl @ RBBSG III, courtesy of Ibrew2or3, thanks Dave. A partager absolument.
3.6 Bottle at RBSG 2014. Thx to everyone for sharing today’s bottles! APPEARANCE: clear brown beer, no foam. NOSE: bourbon, alcohol, sweet, caramel. TASTE: bourbon, alcohol, too much.
4.6 650 ml. bottle sampled @ RBBSG III. Thanks to Sebletitje! Black, little head. Thick liquorish blueberry molasses nose, syrupy, rich cocoa, chocolate. Thick decadent blueberry molasses taste, warming, caramel, rich thick malts, malts, decade, thick fudge,… Decadent fudge body. Very nice.
4.2 Sampled @ RBBSG III. Very dark brown to black color, small off-white to beige head. Aroma is malts, bourbon, lightly roasty, dark malts, liquor. Taste malts, roasty, bourbon, a slight sweetness, some alcohol, some hops. Full body, medium to full carbonation. Lovely.
3.9 From a 22 oz bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Light bourbon nose. Flavors of licorice, dark chocolate, oak and vanilla. Bitter roasted finish.
5.0 This is what a Bourbon barrel stout should taste like. Smooth bourbon mouth feel with good body but no harshness of other stouts. Aged to perfection.
3.8 2012 bottle from my cellar. Pours jet with nice light brown head. Aroma is very nice with demarcated cake batter, roasted notes, bourbon and slight coffee. First sip is similar with a boozy notes and a sweet but mostly balanced finish.very nice
3.9 (bottle - 22 oz) Dark black pour with a thin tan head. Slightly smokey aroma with nice roasted malts and some light bourbon. Flavor is meaty and smokey with bourbon hints and a slightly sweet dark fruit and wine finish.
4.0 Smooth a bit smoky with alcohol finish. Not bad at all. Need another one for sure..
3.7 Black color with tan head. Smoky, dark chocolate, dry wood, whiskey barrel, deep roast aromas. Medium bodied. Dark chocolate fudge, vanilla whiskey sweet flavors with deep roast malt, campfire smoke___very tasty.
3.5 Deep brown or black pour, quarter inch Carmel head that reduced to a small cloudy puddle. Really really sweet scent, dark fruits and bourbon. Average carbonation, really frothy mouthfeel, super rich and roasty on finish. Flavor is super smokey/ashy, campfire and meaty, peaty, really rich molasses and dark fruits, currants and bourbony raisins. Good BBA stout but a bit heavy on the ashiness.
2.8 It was a little burnt for my taste. I like a smokey bock, but this was different. It had more of a burnt red meat flavor, and didn’t stand up to other bourbon barrel stouts.
4.5 Pours an opaque, very dark brown with cola colored glints around the bottom edge of the glass when held to the light. A half-finger, alternating smooth with bubbly, mocha colored head sits atop this beast. IT’s a beauty. Coffee, char smoke, and Crème Brule aromas. Mouthfeel is thick, smooth, somewhat coating, and a little scrubby. Rich flavors of smoky coffee, light plastic, vanilla, and oak. Some bourbon is noted in the background. Awesome stuff! Addendum: With spicy food, the booziness gets expressed much more.
4.3 Black pour with almost no head. Aroma of alcohol and roasted malt. Flavor is more alcohol and roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, and mild chocolate.
3.9 Bottle share taster. Almost black with brown edges, tan cap reduces quick. Aroma of molasses, chocolate, vanilla. Taste is sharp bitterness.
3.7 Bomber from Capones. Black with a brown head that completely fades once it has a chance to settle. Light smoked meat, oak, vanilla, peat, bourbon, roasted malts, some leather, a sharp alcohol burn, and almost some chilli spice; full body, moderate carbonation, some chilli burn going down the gullet, very thick when you swish it, almost feel chunky (not good) but still a nice tasty beer if you like a little spice.
3.6 Black colored pour. Small tan head. Little bit of lacing. Slight bourbon aroma with chocolate and vanilla. Taste is a malty version of the same. Pretty good. Needs more bourbon.
3.3 Pours black, min tan head. Smell red fruit, dry roast. Taste red fruit, espresso, woody Medium body Nice
