2.9 Strong pale ale, bitter finish. Nothing but bitterness after taste.
3.6 333ml bottle. Pours a hazy medium gold, with a moderate white head, which lasts reasonably well. Floral, white peach and citrus hops mix with honey malt in the aroma. Strong white peach and orange hops up front, honey and light biscuit malt in the mid-palate, spice and light resin to finish. Not always my favourite style, but this is a well-executed beer. Complex, but nice and refreshing on a hot afternoon.
3.0 Kuivahko, pureva.
3.2 Bottle. Clear orange/gold with a lovely white head. Aroma of passion fruit, lemons and oranges. Taste is fruity, grainy and malty. Moderate bitterness. Medium carbonation. Refreshing and goes well with Ramen.
3.0 A sushi place: pours light amber with a white head. Aroma is malty, light citrus. Aroma is hoppy, malty, sort of planty. OK. I am not sure if I would call this an IPL.
3.2 Can. Clear, golden color with small head. Fruity flavory aroma. Very flavory taste with bread and hops. Light-medium body and medium carbonation. Overally intersting but would not drink more than one.
3.7 Pour a 12oz can in Kawagoe, Japan. Appearance, clear golden color with half an inch of foamy head, medium head retention, small bubble coming from the bottom, no haze, no cloudy. Aroma, smell of hop first then a little hint of caramel from malt, fruity, earth, pine. Taste, little sweet first and then bitter in mouth, after swallow feel only bitterness, overall heavy bitterness, with no sour and umami Mouthfeel, found light body, oily and sticky, average to lively carbonation, bitter finish quite long Overall, good beer but feel more like good AIPA than India Pale Lager
3.7 Bottle from Jane’s Beer Store in Mountain View, CA. Aroma is sweet malts, grass, citrus. Taste is malty, spicy hops, wet grass. Reminded of a heavy Pilsner with some extra bitterness.
3.7 Coedo Kyara IPL 350ml can on the Shinkansen to Nagoya, Japan. Aroma: Very fruity and lightly spicy with faint caramel malts. Flavor: soft ripe fruits with negligible citrus and subtle spicy hops. Distinct and appealing. Bitterness is about average for style. Medium body with exceptional smoothness and near medium carbonation. Overall: a flavorful, well balanced and harmonious lager. Readily recommended.
3.8 Can. Aroma is far away from intense. Some malt, some citrus peel. Taste is dry and clean. Moderate, grapefruit biterness, some sweet malty notes. Good one.
3.4 Aroma is spruce, resin, honey. Taste is quite bitter with a somewhat alcoholic and spicy finish. Not bad, but maybe a bit too much booze character in this one
2.9 9/4/2018. Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours slightly hazy dark gold with a small off-white head. Aroma of hop, fruit, herb, pine and flowers. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Sweet finish. So so.
3.1 From bottle (BB Aug'18) in footed pilsner. Pours clear deep gold with 1cm frothy white head and citrus/floral hop aroma with a touch of honey. Zesty on the palate with lingering pilsner-style bitterness.
3.9 Draft, Osaka craft beer market. Big malty aroma, pours deep gold, dense head. A very very good lager, ramped up with complex sweet malt and dry hop tastes. Really good.
3.0 Bottle, BBE 3.11.2017. Smell of malt, syrup, some citrus. Amber colour, white head. Strong aroma of grapefruit, also grass, hops, malt. Syrup and spruce in finish. Also alcohol, which is a bit of a surprise. Fizzy but short carbon. Sweet with some bitterness. Decent, but it's more of an imperial IPA to its flavour than a lager. Not sure what to think of it.
3.8 Bottle - malty nose - this is far above any lager I’ve had as the malt level is quite high (even more so than German lagers) - healthy amount of floral hops elevated it further IMHO - moderate bitterness a bit swamped by the sweet malt - I like this ale and more with every mouthful - well made - good beer.
3.0 Une bière jaune orangé, très claire, avec une mousse aérée qui tient bien. L'amertume est agréable en bouche. J'avais des craintes en la versant mais au final j'ai découvert u e bière appréciable.
3.1 333ml bottle, cheers Shirley for bringing this back from Japan for me. Poured into a large Leffe chalice at home on 27th Nov 2017. Golden body, clean and clear, on top a full white blanket of bubbles. This is one of the most bitter tasting Lager's I have ever had, India style or otherwise. Aroma gives no indication of the hop bitterness that follows, in fact the nose had a malty front if anything. I liked it actually, good depth of flavour for a Lager.
2.9 Clear. Deep golden colour. Moderately-sized head. Aroma is grape and flowers. Taste is grass and a tiny bit of citrus. Extremely bitter.
3.4 Bottle, Shoryu Ramen. Rich golden colour, Smallish white head. Full malty beer, sweet grain, with a spicy and slightly fruity hop feel. Surprisingly hoppy, especially to taste, medium bitterness. Actually not bad.
3.3 On tap at Coedo, Hong Kong. Golden with a white head. Quite mild with hops, citrus, some grass and light bread. Medium bitter finish.
3.7 From Hiper Oriente. In Teku glass. Playing Space Pilgrim Episode 4. Plenty of sweet caramel notes, light tropical notes and adequate bitterness level. Low carbonated feel, smooth but not watery. Very drinkable
3.1 350ml can @ Tokyo. Pours clear golden with a small head. Aroma of grassy hops, bready malts, hay and citrus. Taste is crisp and citrusy with some grass, hay and earthiness. Finish is crisp, grassy and hoppy with some herbal notes, pine and hay. Okay hoppy lager.
2.9 333cl embossed bottle. Its a pretty boring ipl, some spice and vinous, not really invigorating.
3.1 Can. Light golden, average and mostly diminishing head. Light to moderate, malty and lightly sweetish, light caramel and light - some tropical fruitiness, light - some grapefruit/citrus hoppyness. Body is medium, malty and lightly sweetish flavor, light caramel and light tropical fruitiness, light grapefruit/citrus hoppyness. Finish is short to average, malty and dryish - lightly sweetish, light caramel and faint tropical fruitiness, light citrus/grapefruit hoppyness. Nice fruity aroma. Flavor/finish is weak - lacks fruitiness/bitterness.
3.1 Clear darker yellow, off-white lacing foam head. Nice hoppy aroma and bitter taste. Not too outspoken, but still a nice IPA. (Velp 201708)
2.7 Coedo Kyara pours a golden color with a thin head that dissipates quickly. There is pleasant buttered toffee on the nose. Not much carbonation, though, and it tastes of some sweetness, toffee, and hops. The finish is bitter, but short. The beer is a pleasant, easily drinkable quaff, which advertises itself as "beer" and "beautiful." It definitely gets the first term right, but beautiful is perhaps not the most apt adjective. However, for marketing purposes, I'll let it slide, and would happily order this at any restaurant in Japan.
2.7 On tap at CRAFT Sukhumvit, pours a hazy golden with a large off-white head. Aroma brings out cereal notes, dry hopping and some herbal notes. Flavour is quite bitter, with floral hops, some vegetables, and dry biscuity malt. Quite a one-dimensionally bitter finish. It’s okay.
3.7 In summary, a hopped up lager. Poured from its 333 ml stubby bottle, the appearance of this brew is a clear golden-orange, topped with a good head of white froth. Aromas are a mix between an IPA and a lager - hoppy floral and fruity notes, with a distinct lager like bready malt aroma. Taste is similar, opening with the citrus fruit notes, followed by some malty sweetness, and then ending with a lager crispness with some light bitterness. Mouthfeel is light, but with carbonation bite, clean and crisp. Interesting hybrid of styles!
