4.0 I can down this beer like lite beer.
2.0 Appearance: Pale golden. Clear. Finger of medium white bubbles. Nose: Lightly roasted malts, a little bread dough and light sweetness. Taste: Light sweet malt with just a touch of grain and perhaps herbal hops. Body: Light, fluid and lively. Parting thoughts: 0 expectations. Bought on a whim because I was in Walmart and they had a 24 oz can for $1 and change. Pleasantly surprised. I’ve certainly had harsher Malt Liquors. Pabst, quietly is making low cost, decent products.
3.6 24 ounce can into lager glass, best before 8/27/2018. Pours crystal clear medium golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of cracker, corn, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and mild herbal/grassy earthiness. A bit of fruity aromas, but not overwhelming. Nice and pleasant aromas with pale malt/corn and mild earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of cracker, corn, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and mild herbal/grassy earthiness. Very mild herbal/grassy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of cracker, corn, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and mild herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness of pale malt/corn and mild earthy hop flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance; and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finish. Very clean on lager flavors, with minimal fruity notes present. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Minimal warming alcohol for 5.6%. Overall this is a good malt liquor. All around nice robustness of pale malt/corn and mild earthy hop flavors; smooth, crisp, clean, and pretty refreshing to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Very clean and nicely rich barley/grain flavors and mild earthy hop balance. Not overdone on the corn adjuncts at all. A nicely enjoyable offering. Well made and spot on style example.
1.4 This is another old school beer for me. Don't think I actually ever bought it to try, but remember my uncle would have it every now and then. For malt liquor, I'd say Mickey's may have this one hands down, but it could somewhere in between that and Ole E. When it comes to swill, I think I actually prefer malt liquor....something about the malty taste I like.
2.8 The appearance is obvious, since it is sold in clear bottles. The aroma is light and bready, maybe with a bit of hay and prone to staleness if the bottle is not fresh. The real winner here is the taste: mildly grainy and mildly sweet. The palate is mild with a smooth finish and not too much carbonation, which is a welcome change from most malt liquors. Overall: a drinkable beverage that is rather light for its category.
1.5 Pours golden with a white head. Aroma of sweet malts, grass and some earthy notes. Taste is sweet malts and grains
1.6 I would rather drink antifreeze out of a litter box
2.3 Ah yes, the infamous Colt 45, Lando Calrissian's favorite and a teenage drinking entry point for us both. Pleasantly surprised that this isn't as gross as expected and it gets a nice nostalgia bump. The smell is dank fetid swamp frat basement and the look is well clearish piss. The taste is deceptively smooth and goes down better than expected really. This isn't a choke downer like Steel Reserve, but that is likely due to the modest ABV where most malt liquors are way up there. No need to brass monkey this one! Good for lazy Thursdays of Halt and Catch Fire, grabbing an inhaler to relieve the illness in your lungs, and getting hopping mad at the confusing auto enrollment 401K policy of your company.
1.2 his brew poured a small head of white medium sized bubbles that quickly disappeared leaving a carbonated weak light yellow body. It has that typical low quality rice beer aroma and a fizzy flavor. There is no real character to this gassy beverage.
5.0 Colt 45. It works every time! Love ya baby! Lando C. The aroma is out of this world, the appearance is luscious as can be, the taste is .......my lawd...my lawd......the palate....palate? Is that Italian? Overall.....it works EVERY TIME.
1.8 Bottle shared at Cotteridge convention 05/03/2016. Thanks to team Boost. A pale yellow coloured pour with no head. Aroma is spicy sweet wort, veg, sweet grains, sweaty. Flavour is composed of sweet grains, apple, tangy apple. Palate is sweet, moderate carbonation, grainy. Not a fan.
1.9 Pale gold with an abundant white head. Doughy sweet aroma. A little sweet with a minor amount of alcohol dryness. No real hop bitterness. Blander than I would have guessed for a malt liquor. Short finish. Quite forgettable.
1.8 Works for a couple sips/chugs ice cold with no real taste, then pretty much like every other cheap pale lager.
2.0 AAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY 40oz...
0.8 This is not a beer I enjoy. Definitely not one I would buy for myself or friends unless requested.
3.3 Refrigerated aluminum can poured into a snifter. Clear pale yellow with small white. Aroma is light grain, light body, low carbonation, and a little lacing. Taste is light grain.
0.5 Ok, let’s get this SHIT out of the way. The only reason this is in my possession is I drove all the way to Newberrytown Rutters, first gas station I know of to sell beer. I am a daily Rutter’s costumer and hope they learn the beer business fast. This will be short but not sweet. I’m 99% sure this is fresh, no help. I drank a few of these as a teen. Here goes, couldn’t go away empty handed but to be fair, hey it was only 11 cents more than my morning joe. $1.99 - 24oz. can. Looks like shit, tastes like shit, smells like, well glad I didn’t step in it.
2.4 bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Aroma of malt and corn. Clear medium golden amber, smooth white head that drops to a thin cover, a couple of lace streaks. Taste is sweet malt with some adjunct, medium fizz, light bittering in the finish. Compared to the small and regional breweries, this isn’t much. Compared to all the "big box" guys (from which it comes), it is a step above. Give it credit for that.
2.0 12oz clear bottle thanks to crossovert Pours clear light golden with a medium sized white head, some lacing. Aroma of corn and sweet grains. Taste is sweet malts, grainy, corn, dry Not terrible but I would want another
0.9 Very grainy and tastes under-done. I got this at a gas station. Nothing much good to say about it and I ended up pouring out over half of it. I went into this product with zero expectations and even those were not met.
1.3 Canned. Not good. Mostly wheat and malt taste and aroma with a hint of sweetness.
1.5 473 ml can. Could not find any reference to the ABV on the label. Aroma is grainy cereal. Poured clear golden straw with OK head. The taste is quite sweet with fruity ester/solvent, wet cardboard & metallic notes with a slight residual sour aftertaste. Consumed for research purposes only. US brewed Malt Liquor - Tick.
2.2 Bottle split at Cotts Convention 2, thanks to Rich, Martyn and Shawn, 05/03/16. Clear golden blonde with a decent off white cap. Nose is toasted grain, cereal, sweet notes, paper. Taste comprises much the same, sweet aspartamic vibes, light carmael, more papery notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Smooth enough drinking ML but lacks boost - wats the fucken point ?
2.1 Clear bottle shared at Cotteridge II as ’Colt 45’. Many thanks to Macboost and the Birmingham crew. Tanya from Command & Conquer Red Alert used Colt 45s, and for that reason alone I’m interested to try this. But that’s about as far as my enjoyment goes. Pale yellow, still, small foamy white head. Aroma is biscuity malt, plain and airy. Body is light, slightly foamy, soft carbonation. Taste is sugary pale biscuits, corn, malt sugars, soft finish. Better than most in the style I’ve tried. (2.1)
2.4 Bottle. Cotteridge Beano v2. Pretty much what I was expecting. Not for me, although it’s certainly better than the Bud Platinum that preceded it.
1.8 First off the billy dee williams commercials were the best thing about this beer...for me way to much malt...just my opinion.
1.7 Looks like this is 11K. Bottle at the Cotteridge Convention 2016. Thanks to Rich, Sarky and Boosty Mackenzie for this juan. It pours clear pale gold with a substantial white head. The aroma is relatively fresh (although I did just have two chilli beers before), paper, cardboard, creamed corn and malt extract. The taste is crisp, sweet, creamy, corn, cheap sweet white bread, plenty of alcohol boost and white sugar. Medium body, fine carbonation and grainy mouth-feel. Tastes cheap, sugary and boosty. I suppose it was what they were aiming for... Sweet baby jeebus. I definitely prefer the high gravity version over this.
3.6 Cotteridge Convention II. Bottle sent over by Macboost, cheers Shawn. I drank this beer straight after this one http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/beername/397611/ and it was the greatest relief of the afternoon to drink it. Golden beer. Aroma of malts. Taste is sticky malts and some sweetness. The best malt Likka I have had so far.
1.9 tried at cotteridge 2, pale gold colour with a white head, fruity apple, sweet finish.
2.5 Bottle at CWC II supplied by MacBoost; clear golden yellow pour with a thin white head, sweet malt aroma, taste has sweet malts some toffee apple. A little drive by in the finish.
