2.9 Pours a clear, dark golden color with a big, foamy, white head that quickly dissipates into a cap. Floral hop aroma, as well as a bit of butterscotch and graininess. Slightly sweet, and a decent hop bite going down. Typical lager aftertaste, and went down smooth like a typical lager. I thought it was fine for what it was, but I don’t like these IPLs.
3.2 Pours a nice golden amber, but the head was far thicker than I expected. Pleasant aroma of grapefruit and pine with some spice and caramel. Not as much bitter as the aroma suggested. A little sweetness. Hops and caramel.
3.7 Otra vuelta de tuerca a las lager, marca de la casa. Esto viene a ser una IPA Dry Hop con levaduras de lager. El aroma es intenso a resina y naranja, con la astringencia del lúpulo, vale mucho la pena
3.6 Aroma starts off great with lots of hops but then it starts to get a bit of pale lager odor. The flavor is strange. It’s quite hoppy at times, but also grainy lager flavors as well. Weird beer.
3.8 Bottle in NYC sept 2012. Clear golden beer with a small offwhite head. Sweet and hoppy aroma. similar flavour, a really refreshing beer :-)
3.0 Fairly easy to drink. Hop flavours are upfront, but nothing stands out as a dominant flavour. A fizzy head that hangs around for a while and leaves some good lacing down the glass. Slightly bitter finish. Alright, but not fantastic.
3.7 From the big bottle: great amber orange color with loads of sticky orange hued foam, settling gradually. aroma of apricots, pine, caramel. flavor is the same, really good, interesting play between the residual sweetness and hoppy twang. biscuity notes peeking through. Great brew
4.1 Tan to slightly orange in color, clear, rising bubbles, a nice one finger head and good lacing. Lots of citrus on the nose, lemon peel, oranges, grapefruits. A good amount of hoppy aroma too, very nice. Taste is very nice, quite bitter and citrusy. Hop flavor is more than almost any American pale lager that I’ve tried. There’s a nice malty balance too. Body is medium and well carbonated. Quite easy to drink. It’s hard to believe this is a lager. If you served it to me blind, I’d think it to be a pale ale, and a pretty hoppy one at that. Within the style, this one is a real standout, and a quality beer. Highly recommended.
3.0 It has hazy blond colour. Yeasty aroma. Has a sharp but also bready, yeasty taste.
3.4 Bottle. Pours a very hazy dark golden color with a moderate white head. Nose is rather hoppy with some floral notes and just a hint of lager smell underneath. Feels a little heavy on the palate, but has a clean taste nonetheless.
3.3 22oz bottle in a shaker. Pours amber with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of caramel and pale malts plus some citrusy and floral hops. Flavor the same. Average texture. Not bad but nothing special.
2.8 Pours golden...thin white head... Just ok,, metallic taste, decent hopps... Not my fav, but not bad
3.3 Bottle on Amtrak Train 27 - The Empire Builder ( from Binny’s South Loop) - 05/11/12. Clear golden with a thin off white head that retains well. Sweet caramel malt on the nose, sour tropical fruits, bitter hops. Tastes of caramel malt, popcorn, dark sugars, barley, grain, light citrus tones and a little sour grapefruit. Medium bodied with soft carbonation leading to a bitter finish.
3.0 It poured a hazy golden color with a small white head. The aroma was of sweet honey and some vanilla. The taste was sweet with a kick of bitterness. A decent Hop Lager.
3.4 golden color, straight forward hoppy strong pale ale. Decent body and decent bitterness.
3.2 Pours a slightly hazy dark golden/orange with a really decent rocky antique lace head. Aroma is toasted malt and a sour grassiness from the hops. Taste is a buttery sweet maltiness with a fairly substantial bitterness, once again brought on by the several hops used. Not getting any citrusiness like you’d expect from a load of hops like this, but it doesn’t really need it as it’s supposed to be an impy lager, not an IPA. Perhaps not my style, but pretty good nonetheless.
3.4 Bomber. Citrus and mild bitterness throughout. Malty fruit flavors in the background. Crisp finish.
2.3 1 pint 6 oz bottle very bitter and citrusy beer tastes just like it smells which isnt great , boozy and the finish is blah, disappointed to say the least wont buy again.
3.4 I followed the Coney island pilsner with this and was much more impressed. This had a lot more flavours (especially citrus notes) which made this a far more enjoyable beer. Great lager.
3.4 Yellow with a white head. Heavily carbonated, tons of citrus hops flavor with a bit of earthiness mixed in.
3.3 My Bottom Line : Floral and crisp, this lagered IPA is surprisingly nudged by alcohol, ending in a delicate hop resin bitterness. Further Personal Perceptions : -A sheet of foam laces around the pale amber glow. -The lean body helps drinkability, as does the creamy carbonation. -The flavor profile is balanced. -This wasn’t bad at all, but I guess I was expecting more from a hoppy lager... Bottle.
2.7 Nice golden pour. Wheat hoppiness. Fresh baked bread. Some fruit notes. Drinkable but ultimately forgettable
2.4 Bottle. Pours an average cheddar orange with a nose of seltzerized grapefruit and weak pine. Flavor is mineral water and grapefruit. Average mouthfeel. Weak. Don’t swallow.
3.6 Somewhat hazy golden beer with à rich lasting offwhite head. Hoppy citrus aroma, malty, fruity, grapes, bread, pears, some grapefruit. Hoppy citrus flavor, grapes, floral notes, grapefruit, bready, some herbal notes. Hoppy floral finish, banana, grapes, hay and some pineapple. Really good to be a strong lager.
3.7 Bubbly carbonated hops on the aroma. Light/pale copper with some decent foam. Interesting, carbonated bitter hops with the similiar funky taste of of a pilsner. Bit of a grassy taste with possibly some coriander. Overall, it’s an interesting brew. Nice pilsner & IPA hybrid, more on the pilsner side. The quality is decent but the idea is unique. I’d give this a B rating.
3.6 Clear yellow gold pour big frothy head medium carbonation aromas citrus mamalade note maltiness the flavours medium bitter sweet malt grapefruit lemon mamalade so nice on palate caramel resiny pine full tasting ale the finish full tasting ale hoppy fruit aftertaste sweet malt pine good ale
3.1 Pour out of 12 oz bottle, clear orange pour with white head, aroma has notes of mixed grassy and piney hops, slight orange, booze, hints of toffee and caramel, slight earthy and vanilla tones. Taste is a mix of sweet orange, hop notes, slight boozy notes which is odd, slight orange, hints of lemon, grass, slight vanilla, finishing fairly sweet, slightly bitter.
3.2 Bottle at Dan’s courtesy of Armin, thanks man! Pour is pale gold in appearance with a small white head that quickly dissipated. Smell is big grass, weed, dank, light corn, cereal, and grain. Taste is very smooth with not a whole lot going on, but I am picking up light grass, grain, sweet corn, and bread ending lightly bitter. Light body with crisp carbonation. Not bad.
2.9 Bottle @ Dan’s house. Clear, orange appearance with a small, cream colored head. Husky, grainy, big herbal, floral hoppy, a touch boozy aroma. Corn, strong grainy, herbal, lemon, somewhat boozy flavor. Alright.
3.3 Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange copper with small frothy white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is a raisin malt and honey. Medium mouthfeel with a bitter hop bite and bready malt with a lingering bitter finish. A good Imprrial pils from Coney Island.
