Contreras Valeir Extra

Contreras Valeir Extra

During the British Colonial Times, the English exported beer to India. To preserve the beer for a longer period, extra-hopped beers were produced (hops maintain natural preservation and add bitterness to the beer).

3.4 08/07/2018 - 33cl bottle @Steekbieren & Foodtruck event of Chiro Melden. Dark blonde, big white head. Nose is malts, bit hay, some citrus. Taste is malts, bit spices, citrus, soft bitter ending.
3.3 Bottle @ La Belladonna, Brussels. Cloudy golden, big foamy white head. Lightly citrus hoppy nose. Taste is Belgian IPA with grainy malts, quite a lot of yeasts and carbonation, little soapy hops. Medium body, high carbonation.
3.1 Süffig hopfiger Beginn mit leicht erhöhter Karbonisierung. Hell brotig-bitter, dunkel getreidig hopfig, frisch, vielleicht etwas monoton. Rund, langer trocken bitter-hopfiger Nachhall, mild kräutrig. 11/9/9/9/8/9
3.1 Bottle 33cl. Clear golden with a huge white head. Aroma of typical pils type but also with subtle citrus hoppy tones. Tatse is a bit thin, with a gentle bitter finish. Shirt to medium finish.
3.9 Bottled. Lovely golden appearance but a nice head. Banana aroma but with a hint of hay. Really nice taste - lovely balance of sweetness and bitterness. Great beer.
3.5 19 May 2018. At De Heeren van Liedekercke. Shared with Anke. Pours hazy dark orange with a big, lasting, foamy, off-white head; good lacing; lots of small floaties. The aroma contains yeast, unripe peach, mango & pineapple, citrus, bready malt, grass, straw. Light citric sour onset, yeasty, and light to medium hoppy bitter, a bit spicy and bready sweet. Dry, hoppy finish, lingering spices & yeast. Medium to full body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Good beer, typically Belgian though; in the 21st century, this can't hardly be called an IPA any more.
3.0 resin, floral, grass, spruce, citrus, herbs, caramel, roasty, bread, pale, golden, amber, orange, red, clear, hazy, cloudy, sparkling, rocky head, frothy, minimal head, white foam, light sweetness, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, medium bitterness, lightly sour, medium sourness,
2.5 Bottle (HBF 2018). Slightly hazy amber color. Medium size, white head, stays. Grainy and some hops in aroma. Not enough aroma. Grainy, hops, malty in taste. Kind of bland. Fizzy carbonation. Average brew.
3.7 A small taste from a bottle @ The Belgian Embassy. Pours cloudy golden with a medium head. Aroma is malts with some yeast and some hops. Flavor is bitter malts with yeast, alcohol and hops. No fruits. More like belgian strong ale with extra hops. Good.
3.0 $4.99 bottle, Wine Warehouse. Pours amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is stale funky hops, a little yeast, perhaps honey. Flavor is stale hops, resin, lite honey, light caramel. Meh.
3.6 Bottle 33cl at "streekbieren" event. Not really from my area, but definitely my style of beer. Pours golden, aromatic hopnose, not a true exotic explosion but still nice. Clean bitter palate, nothing harsh, long finish. Good IPA.
3.0 Decent, very beginner’s IPA. Moderate, flowery hops, medium body and carbonation.
3.4 330ml bottle. Pours misty gold, overly large white head. Aroma is fresh and floral. Taste is clean, smooth, lightly sweet Belgian blonde yeast, bready with a light fruity hop edge. Easy-going.
2.9 Bottle, 750 ml from Beergium. Shared with rest at the grand tasting 11/2016. Pours cloudy yellow with medium creamy white head. Malty, light fruit, average yeast, bit spicy. Light to moderate sweetness, thin. Haven’t expected much, but still a bit of disappointment.
3.1 Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer.
3.7 Pours a deep orange-amber colour, with medium head and good retention. Sediment is present. It keeps a layer and a compact lace. Lots of bubble exploding. Aroma of tropi9cal fruits, clove, oranges, chocolate. Medium t light body, cider like palate, good carbonation. Taste of chocolate, oranges, vanilla, spices. Strange, kind of a cross between an IPA and an Weissbier.
3.3 Drunk from 33cl bottle bought from beer discovery project. Enjoyable IPA style beer.
3.0 Draught. More blond to me than ipa. Golden in colour, clear with solid head. Aroma of malt, caramel, flowers and light spiciness. In taste malty sweet, floral with no sign of bitterness. Medium body, fizzy carbonation. Overall it was pleasant drink.
3.8 Oranjegeel bier met schuim. Smaak is licht friszuur en fruitig en licht hoppig bitter met iets van sinaasappel en grapefruit. Mooi in balans.
3.3 Bottle. Pours light golden with a thick white head which is pretty solid. Quite some malty caramel in aroma along with floral aroma, some orange and tart. Decent palate, though somewhat thin. Medium carbonation, bitter finish, not very long. Flavour is flowers, tart and orange. Quite good.
3.8 F: big, white, creamy, stable. C: amber to orange, hazy. A: malt, citrus, tonic, orange peels, grapefruit, grassy, light floral, hint of caramel. T: fruity, citrus, tangerine, hint of mineral, floral, hint of sticky, caramel, biscuit, medium body, good carbonation, very good drinkable and enjoyable good balanced beer, 0,33l bottle from Carrefour in Brussels
3.6 75cl. Light hazy golden orange with foamy head. A: medium ipa malts and hops, mostly, pine, lime, pineapple. Light syrup note, big Belgian blonde aroma. Inviting. T: medium ipa bitterness, light fruity, mostly lemon, light pineapple. Sweet malt character typical for a blonde, yeast note , biscuit mouthfeel. Medium bitter but definitely more pronounced than standard blonde. Finish is medium bitter, fruity, relatively long. Good crossover. Chouffe Dobbelen IPA packs more punch and flavor, though.
3.6 hazy golden to orange colour, large, though not too stable off-white head; aroma of bread, tropical fruits, floral and earthy notes; taste is rather malty than hoppy with tropical fruity, earthy andyesty notes; good, but not a typical IPA
3.1 Bottle. Hazy deep golden color with a medium sized foamy off-white head. Aroma of malt with notes of lemon. Medium bitter taste. Medium body. -- rated with beerbasher/winphone
3.5 33cl bottle in the new K & S Beer & Tobacco store/tasting room in Brugge on Sunday 7th Feb 2016. Clean orange pour with a full white head. Hop lead with grass, grapefruit and other citrus notes overpowering any yeast or malty aromas. In the taste there is more balance as the malts assert themselves a little. Decent and a change from all the really heavy beers Belgium is usually known for (that and lager of course).
