Coronado / Cigar City Jurata Baltic Porter

Coronado / Cigar City Jurata Baltic Porter

When naming this Baltic porter, a collaboration with Tampa’s famed Cigar City Brewing, we opted for Jurata as a nod to a mythological mermaid known to roam the depths of the Baltic Sea, just as energetic yeast used to brew this deep dark beer navigated our fermentation tanks. Dive in and enjoy Jurata’s true-to-style rich and complex flavors!

3.6 Negro con reflejos caoba.espuma beis densa. Aromas de chocolate, tabaco, café. Cuerpo medio, inicio dulce achocolatado, con final de amargor acafetado suave.
3.2 On tap into a shaker showing pitch black with sparse white foam. The nose shows extremely subtle latte notes. The palate is light bodied and extremely well carbonated - it’s mostly just a mouth full of foam. Shows dark chocolate with very light coffee flavors more akin to a latte. Bitterness is also light and easy like a latte.
3.7 Pours black. Or very dark brown whitish head. Aroma of smoke chocolate and malt. Taste of bitter chocolate, bourbon, toffee
2.9 Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver; 414ml Dark brown color, served with no head. Aroma of dark malts, cocoa powder, impression of chemicals (phenol). Lean body, despite the high initial gravity; the flavor focuses too much in dark caramel, with a clear presence of heavily roasted nuts in the final; light residual sweetness. Rather simple in its conception. It’s a decent beer, but I regret getting a large glass of it.
3.9 On tap at St. Augustine’s, pours jet black with a small tan head. Nose brings out rich notes of chocolate upfront, followed by roast and some dry cocoa powder. Flavour is similar, bringing out a rich balanced palate of cocoa powder and roasted malt, with a touch of coffee and even smaller touch of vanilla. Robust and impeccably balanced big beer. Excellent.
3.8 Draft - Dark chocolate and roast. Jet deep brown with a light brown head. Dark roast and chocolate with a syrupy chocolate bitterness. Roasty and nice, but none of the dark fruit I hoped for.
3.7 On tap taster at St Augustine’s in Vancouver. A black beer with medium tan head. Nose is faintly of chocolate. In the mouth it’s sweet and smoooth, with chocolate and fruit impressions, maybe faintly of coffee. Low bitterness. Sweet and malty finish. 3.7.
3.5 Baltic porter. ホッピーな感じのポーター コーヒー感はない
3.9 Dark and ominous. Oily thick and smooth. Full molasses, bourbon, chocolate, malty. Full bodied. Lingering sweet molasses. Pretty awesome Baltic.
3.5 Bottle @ 3N tasting. Deep brown with a small head. Nose is of chocolate, baked apple, coffee. Some cream and bread. Taste of coffee and chocolate. Pretty dry finish. Peppery. Medium body, active carb.
3.8 Pours cola brown with aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and dark fruit. Roasted malt flavor with chocolate, espresso, and some raisin. Great beer!
3.7 Pours a thin head on a black body. The aroma is rich caramel, cinnamon, wood and salt. The taste is bitter-sweet black coffee, roasted malt, caramel and burnt sugar. Nice. The texture is thick. A superb porter.
3.8 Complex beer. I taste some bourbon, cherries, and roasted malts. Sort of sweet finish. Pours black with a thick cream head. Had at world of beer
4.0 Dark brown pour with small beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, leather, slight smoke, caramel, tobacco and ripe dark fruits. Taste of roasted malts, caramel, chocolate fudge, faint smoke, tobacco, hint of coffee. Full bodied, smooth creamy mouthfeel, perfect carbonation and superbly balanced. Delicious beer!!
3.7 Two pretty fantastic breweries, once again, collaborate to make a slightly better than average brew. Not sure how it happens but consistently does. Light khaki head with a dark, nearly black body. A little thin for the style. Cocoa, roasted malt, and toffee are present.
3.9 Amazing licorice heavy aroma in ruby-black pour. This is a spectacular brew that gets better as it warms up. Licorice, cocoa, coffee, and many others - yum!
3.7 Draught at Harry’s Hofbrau. Aroma and flavor both have tobacco and fruit (blueberry) mixing well. Moderate roast mixes well. Brown with taupe head. Clear. Tasty.
3.8 nice brew. I’d passed on this in bottles but finally tried it at the SD tap room. fruity with hints of licorice and lots of dark malt. smooth.
4.5 Great taste of chocolate and not so bitter. Good roundness and well-balanced. Expresso notes in final. Awesome beer.

3.8 22 ounce bottle from Jungle Jims. Dark pour. Raisin and chocolate with some sherry. Boozy nose. Nice.
3.9 Pours almost opaque prune into the glass, with an initial head that reduces to thinning lace. The nose is of dark fruits, yeasty esters, banana bread and some liqueur notes. Flavors of of dark fruits, dark esters, breadiness, raisins, figs and dates, with a dark fruit skin/tannin and lightly roasted grain finish. The mouthfeel is smooth, with a rich body and silky palate. I enjoy this a lot. Superb take on the Baltic Porter. Prost!
3.8 Bottle. Heavy dark bread, cereal and dark chcocolate for the malt, light herbs for the hops, moderate dough for the yeast. Head is small, fizzy, light brown, with heavy lacing and is fully lasting. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts lightly sweet and acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Palate is medium to full, creamy with a lively carbonation and a chalky finish. A nicely crafted Baltic Porter, one of the best I’ve had.
3.3 Bottle at the Libertine February bottle share. Pours a deep brown to black with no head. Aroma is toffee and some odd vanilla. Taste is raisin, plumb and an overly sweet stout.
3.4 Nose of brown sugar and dark fruit. Stout sweetness with back end hop bitterness and booze. Fruitiness reminiscent of English yeast. Punchy roastiness. Creamy carbonation and mouthfeel. Nicely balanced and drinkable.
2.9 On tap at a Concord beer festival. Not bad. Dark and quite fizzy. Plenty of flavour.
2.9 Bottle shared at a tasting. Pours a clear copper with a large frothy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of toffee, caramel, chocolate, raisin. A bit oxidized. The taste is toffee, caramel, citrus, raisin, mild hops. Medium bodied, mild lingering bitterness.
3.6 Aroma has coffee, chocolate, and a little metallic funk that burned off after a while. Flavor is strong and malty, bittersweet with chocolate and dark fruit. Coffee bitterness in the finish. Nice effort.
3.5 Bottle - Pours cola with a ring of off-white head. Nose is dark malt, ashy, with chocolate and milky sweetness. Taste is ashy, dark roast, dry and a bit of milkiness and a touch of soy sauce. Medium-thin with mellow carbonation.
3.8 Bomber from Imbibe Wine. Nose is chocolate, roast, and hints of coffee and bubblegum. Brown with a big heavy lacing, beige head. Flavor is lightly sweet and chocolaty.
