Coronado Islander IPA

Coronado Islander IPA

Named after Coronado Island, our original India Pale Ale is a liquid expression of hometown pride. Centennial, Chinook and Columbus hops combine to provide an explosive burst of piney bitterness and luscious notes of apricot, grapefruit and mango that are sure to evoke imagery of swaying palms and sun-kissed shores.

3.2 In can. World of Beer. Easton OH.
3.9 A good IPA, drinked on cask...Mouthful, a strong but not invasive hopped beer...good!
3.6 (can, 35.5cl) Hazy, golden colour with a blond and short foamy head. Mildly bready malty aroma with a whiff of caramel, backed by mainly fruity and slightly piney hops, including grapefruit and tropical accents. Sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Slightly bready and earthy malty base with notes of caramel and tea, backed by a good dash of fruity and slightly piney hops; quite lingering earthy malty and fruity hoppy finish. Good. 10.I.18
3.7 golden hazy, small long-lasting white foam; citruses, tropical fruits, sweetish malty notes (bread, caramel), some pine maybe; medium+ bitterness and sweetness; medium body, moderately thick feel, average carbonation, long bittersweet finish
3.0 Bottled 355ml. -from Pivoteka Zagreb. Golden coloured, medium sized off-white head, light caramel nose. Sweetish malty, caramel, stale herbal hops and dry bitterish finish. Not so fresh example.
3.3 (tap 0,2l @ OP (Brno)) Aroma: Malty, biscuits. Appearance: Clear dark golden. Medium, white head. Taste: Medium sweet, malty, biscuits, light spicy, medium bitter, light perfumy hops. Palate: Medium-full body. Light bitter finish. Overall: Malty IPA. Could be more hoppy.
4.1 Out of a bottle. Smell is a cooking biscuit, nice and toasty with hops in there and a slice of pine. Caramel accent. Taste is also toasted, cookie and mild. Not a lot of good until the palate hits and then it's a mild bitterness. Nice foam and lacing in the bottle if that counts
3.6 Bottle from Safeway, SF. Clear golden. Nose is floral, pine, grass, apricot, mango. Tastes grapefruit, citrus, bitter, grass.
2.9 Medium golden with a creamy head. Citrusy hops with hints of over ripe papaya. Seems light bodied for a 7% ABV beer. Crisp, light carbonation. The malts don't quite balance out the hops, lingering bitterness. Fair but nothing special.
2.9 Keg, Brewdog Shepherds Bush. It's just not quite right. A promising big pine and bitter first mouthful, and citrus/pine aroma, but both taste and smell have metallic, rubbery notes after a while which I could not get rid of.
3.4 Perfect with Sloppy Joe's! Burgers! Fries! Steak!. Nice and smooth, hoppy and easy on the palate!
3.1 Keg at brewdog Edinburgh. Pours golden, nose is floral, orange, taste is sweet, grassy, citrus.
3.2 Keg at BD Castlegate. It pours clear golden - amber with a small white head. The aroma is soft, sweet, stone fruits, apricot, nectarine, peach, marmalade and bread. The taste is dry, bitter, resinous, apricot, peach, metallic tang, bread, cereal, wood and a touch of alcohol with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. More of an old school US IPA. Fair.
3.9 Tap at brewdog Camden. Pours an opaque golden, white head, good lacing. Nose is sweet pine, grapefruit. Taste is upfront tropical fruits, feeding into a mild to medium bitterness. Great balance.
3.7 on tap pours gold with sticky white head aroma and taste tropical fruit and a bitter pine finish
3.6 Bottle from Safeway in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is like tropical fruits, citrus rinds. Taste is crisp and fruity with mild bitterness. Very FL Beachy.
3.0 Bottle at home. Bit unclear golden with white head. Big sweet malts, resin, caramel, biscuits, butter, pineapple. Big sweet and light bitterness. Medium body, buttery malty feel, soft carbonation. After closer inspection I think I’ve found what is the bottling date in tiny black letters on the brown glass: 06/04/15. Very sad, I bought this today. Wouldn’t have if I’d seen that.
4.2 Yep, this is a West Coast style IPA. No question. Orange color, aggressive American hop cones, imperceptible alcohol - you get the picture. Juicy grapefruit and pineapple flavors. Bitter piney resin that slowly fades on the palate. The SD area has countless examples of these beers, but this one is among the best.
3.2 Very decent IPA. Good taste. Well done. Very refreshing. Coronado has never done wrong by me.
3.7 Pours light orange with medium head. Aroma: very dry aroma of pine, green pepper and nice mango and peach. Taste: enven dryer than aroma, with pine clearly dominating, low body and a massive hop palate with no malty sweetness to counterbalance it. Great stuff for lovers of classic super dry west coast ipas.
3.6 Can. Hazy orange color with white head. Aroma is piney, toffee, oranges, forest floor. Flavour is the same, quite sticky. Medium carbonation, bitter finish. Well done!
4.0 On tap at St Augustine’s in Vancouver. A medium amber beer with a moderate white head and a faint fruity nose. Moderate hop bitterness with big fruit notes and a bit of malt in the background. Wow! 4
3.6 From the tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours crisp gold with fluffy white foam, fine. Aroma is citrus, apricot and piney. Body is average, low carbonation. Taste is bitter, but delicate, and with some malt body. Finish is long and pleasant.
3.5 Pours a hazy orange yellow color with no head and a white soapy rim. Aroma of grapefruit and mango. Fruity flavor with some mango and grapefruit with a lingering pine aftertaste. Quite nice.
4.9 Nice hoppy aroma that lingers on the tongue. I was able to enjoy multiple servings
3.7 Medium gold pour, decent white head. Nose is grapefruit, little pine. Bitter. Middle is a solid medium roasted malt backbone with some tropical fruit, and simmering ABV. Finish is balanced bitterness. Pretty good.
3.1 Deep straw, clear color. Medium full body, dense flavor, moderately assertive mouthfeel, average length. Crisp, bitter, dry. Hoppy, herbal, grapefruit.
3.5 Bottle from Beerlovers, Vienna, tasted at Zil Verne’s tasting. Golden orange color with medium white head. Aroma of caramel, citrus hops. Taste, again caramel, malt with light hoppy bitterness, zest, pines, tropical fruits. Medium long hoppy bitter finish. Good.
