Coronado Mermaid's Red Ale

Coronado Mermaid's Red Ale

Mermaid’s Red™ bucks the shallow mid-range red ale stereotype. Loaded with Cascade hops, it delivers a fresh floral aroma and sharp bitter notes, all while delivering a solid kick of roasted malts that fades seamlessly into a rich, chocolaty finish with hints of clove and caramel.

3.4 Pours clear amber color with creamy off-white head. Aroma of caramel, grain, and toasted malt with some pine.Solid lacing with grain, pine, and roasted malt flavor. Decent beer.
4.2 Dense ruby red color with a creamy head of off-white foam. Caramel and subtle cocoa aromas. Caramel, sweet grainy cereal, and sharp pine resin hops on the taste. A very good red both on the malty sweet side and the hoppy side.
4.5 Nice malt balance. Pairs well with steak. Available at most stores in Wisconsin in a bottle
3.1 Another far too bitter red, which is pretty common in california. But on top of that it needs quite a bit more body and caramel malt. Water front bar SD.
3.6 0,33l fles uitgeschonken mooi rood, verder een goede amber ale met aardbei, bessen en cassis. lekker
3.5 a nice amber ale with a floral hop aroma and a floral hop taste with some grain malts.
3.7 While not as hoppy as some of the Amber Ales on the current market, Coronado’s Mermaid’s Red comes across pretty clearly as a West Coast ale. The amber malt has a lot of chocolate and caramel character, but there’s plenty of Cascadian bitterness and citrusy flavor that comes through. While the hops mostly have an earthy floral note, there’s a lovely orange marmalade taste that sticks to the roof of your mouth. Given where it’s from, there are more dynamic ales that come from the SD area. However, it’s hard to think of too many more that are this approachable yet true to their setting.
2.9 Red beer. Spotty lacy head. Very malty nose. Very malty flavor with a cool, mild bitter bite.
3.3 Una amber ale que me recuerda a estilos escoceses, caramelo, maltas tostadas con final semiamargo. Normal
3.3 Bottle from variety pack. Pours mahogany with little lace. Balanced bitter with caramel and spiced hop. Roasted middle and a prickly chocolate finish.
3.2 650 ml bottle poured at home. Pours reddish (touch on the orange side) with no head. Smells like caramel or toffee and malt. Tastes strongly of malt with a caramel finish. The malt is almost overpowering, which doesn't make this my favourite beer to drink.
3.9 Bottled at Lilla London on October 29, 2016. Clear dark copper color, big tan head. Hoppy, bisquit scent. Malty, sweet, fruity, hoppy, bitter taste. Dry, caramel, hoppy, toasted aftertaste. Medium ful mouthfeel, medium high bitterness, lasting.
3.8 Bottle - from sampler pack. Dark amber to brown color - translucent. Roasty aroma with some malt and hops. Quite good. Nice combination of malt, roast and hops.
3.2 Flaska på Monks American Bar, Stockholm. Rågig, lätt sötma. Känns ganska standard.
3.0 Bottle. Pours a clear amber beer with a thin white head on top. Aroma is extremely malty and slightly caramel-esque. Even some cookies or buttery notes in there, not sure though. Some fruit is noticeable trough the abundance of malts. Flavor is overly sweet and sugary, thick with again hints of caramel and butter. Loads of sugar in there for sure. Softly carbonated, sticky mouthfeel. Meh..
3.7 From Zombier. In Teku glass. Watching Los Soprano 2x06. Balanced, with a nice caramel touch (not too agressive) and very drinkable. May be missing a bit of punch but is still pretty enjoyable
3.2 12 ounce bottle. Mid brown and cloudy. A long lasting one finger beige layer of foam. Malts lead the aroma and are of both a red and amber. Gentle fruit. The flavor is as above. Hop bitterness comes late. It is grapefruit and citrus. Light coffee notes after that. Better with warming but never great. But then, its an Amber.
3.5 12 oz bottle. The pour is a deep ruby color, almost black with a thin off white head that falls down to a small film, leaving a decent lace. The aroma is surprisingly not bad. There is a strong maltiness and a nice sweet tropical fruitiness that I enjoy. There is a little pine on the back end as well. The flavor is really light and bland. There is a sweet malt and then it just falls off. The mouth feel is surprisingly thick and softly carbonated. The aftertaste is sweet and malty with a light tropical fruit.
3.6 Tasted from the tap on the 04/08/2016. Reddish amber colour with a medium foamy white head. Aroma of grains, spice, resin and caramel. Taste is inicial hops with aftertaste of caramel. Next one please!
3.3 Pours a reddish amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel hoppy aroma. Fruity malty hoppy caramel flavor. Has a fruity malty hoppy bitter caramel finish.
3.0 Bottle. Deep brown amber with tan head thin lacing. Roasty toasty, malty, some spice, resin, caramel, nuts. $9.99/multi sixer at Binny’s, Elmwood Park, IL
3.5 Taps hazy mahogany with a decent buff head. Aroma delivers weak but tempting toasted malt, woody hop and subtle caramel tones. Flavor, happily, is bolder, ramping up all the tones from the aroma, especially the hops, adding a little evergreen bitterness. Mouthfeel features firm, full body and some good fizz. I hear this mermaid singing!
3.8 5.7%ABV. Amber ale. Tapped out brown red. 18ºSRM. Nose has some perfume and toasted nutty aromas. Like roasted chestnuts. Mouthfeel is full and soapy. There are some nice toasted malt flavors with wheat toast, chestnuts and caramel. There is a candied peanut flavor that suggests like a peanut brittle. Hops are spicy with cilantro and Thai basil predominating. There may be some mild chili freshness to the finish as well. There is a spicy, rounded and aromatic middle-end to the palate that is like citrus peel or zest and fresh herbs which is faintly reminiscent of vietnamese cuisine. Finish is brief-medium and primarily herbaceous. Goes on Favorites List !
3.5 Bottle from zymology lisbon, portugal. Color is dark copper. Head is thin and beige. Medium bitterness, light sweetness. Aroma is malty, hoppy, light fruit, spices.
3.3 eep amber color with a thin white head. Nutty, chocolate, toffee, fudgy aroma. Flavor has caramel, nuts, toffee, hops. Long finish
3.3 Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 19A). Bottle 35.5 cl - Batch unknown. AROMA: predominant medium malt aroma with toffee/caramel notes followed by a low hop aroma with pine, resin and slight ripe melon. APPEARANCE: slight dark amber color and translucent. medium-large ivory head with medium retention. TASTE: initial hop flavor with pine/resin notes and slight fruity tones, followed by a balanced caramelly flavor. supportive medium-high bitterness with a semi-dry and bitter finish. PALATE: medium-low to medium body with moderate carbonation. no astringency. OVERALL: an american amber ale where the hop presentation started to dwindle.
3.4 On tap at Todd Pub, Las Vegas. Aroma of biscuit malt, caramel, pine resin, toast, toffee, fruits, hops. Flavour is moderate sweet with a moderate to medium bitter finish. Body is medium. Pleasant easily drinkable hoppy caramel malty Red Ale.
