Coronado Orange Ave. Wit

Coronado Orange Ave. Wit

This So-Cal take on a traditional witbier honors Coronado’s main street, which is home to our brewpub and was once lined with orange trees. Bolstered by orange zest, coriander and orange blossom honey, it’s Belgium by way of Coronado. Expect a refreshing, light-bodied brew rife with citrus zing and a hint of earthy spice.

3.1 (can, 35.5cl) Hazy, golden colour with a blond and short frothy head. Mildly yeasty and wheaty aroma with notes of oranges, as well as blossom-like floral and coriander-spicy accents. Mildly bitter-tart flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Slightly grainy wheaty taste with basic fruity notes of oranges, lime, getting spicier and yeastier towards the moderately bitter tart finish with present notes of coriander. Nice but not a must. 07.V.18
4.0 Wonderful beer. Amazing taste and color, assuming you love wheat style beer.
3.0 Schlappo!!! Summer Kräuter Schlanko mit metallischer TangerineAffair. Short, lowseifig & sämig clear...ganz nett🙌not more...355ml CAN from BREWCOMER Kiel.
3.0 12oz can at home, pours a very bubbly orange. Smells of orange and malty. The flavor is subtle orange with some lemon. Wish it had some more orange flavor then it does. Good but not great
3.2 Canned sample at Hotel Coronado....refreshing Wit beer on a sunny day in San Diego
5.0 Found this at a local bar and this was the closest they had to Blue Moon. Love this beer for it's flavor and taste! Even found at a local grocery store. Already purchased (4) 6 Packs!
3.2 Visual: (cellared for 2 years). Pours opaque orange with a massive slowly dissipating bubbly head, 1mm layer of retention, clusters of micro streams. Nose: honeyed lager malt with orange overtones, semi-bright (lvl-6)-pungency Attack: crisp, full-CO2 Mid-palate: (lvl-4-sweetness), orange zest undertones, sweet wheat malt Finish: subtle off-dry coriander, big honey exhale Conclusion: A good integration of the 3 listed aromatics in balanced harmony. It is very drinkable but doesn't leave much of a lingering impact as it is only light-medium in depth. Decent.
2.2 Can. Pale golden and slightly hazy with a medium white foam dying like sprite. Scent is medium dense notes of orange zest and california style weizen. Taste is slightly over-citric lemon zest that feels a bit like refined corn malt. Possibly off. Lightly Sour. Fine.
2.7 Hazy, light amber, this has a fair bit of orange. Ok, but the orange doesn't actually help this any.
3.1 Clear dark golden pour with smallish white head. Nose of sweet orange and wheat. Flavor of honey, orange, wheat and bit of spice. Very clean finish.
2.7 12oz can. Pours lightly hazy gold with a medium off-white head. Aroma is wheat, coriander, and faint spice. Taste is the same but with an added citrus. Medium body. Average carbonation. Crisp-ish mouthfeel.
3.2 Canned version. Pours out a clear golden color with a foamy white head. Very bready with orange-citrus aromas and flavors. Somewhat easy drinking and refreshing, but too much on the bland side for me.
3.0 (Tap) clear, very bright yellow colour with a small white head; faint aroma of fruit; balanced, light flavour with a short, tart finish
3.0 Sample rated from backlog notes. Pours a slightly hazy yellow golden color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have orange zest, mild citrus, light honey, pale wheat malts, light spice, very average.
2.7 On tap @ The Gingerman. This is a near clear golden colored one. A small sidesticking bright white head on the top. Smells really soapy actually. A hint of Cointreau in the back. Really mild. Mild in the taste also. Creamy and really comfortable in the mouth. Thin and watery in the taste, unfortunately. Really thin taste vise. Traces of sugary malts, other than that this was a really blend and dull one. Quickly forgotten. 09.06.2015
3.1 Pours yellow orange color with aroma of orange, coriander, and honey. Orange honey flavor with some spice. Nice summer beer.
3.5 Draft at sloan. Aroma of wheat, grass and orange. Taste has soft sweet yeast, sweet orange, wheat and subtle tart. Nice beer and very nice on a warm Italian evening.
2.5 Pours lightly hazy yellow with minimal tan head. Baby aspirin orange aroma and flavor. Light coriander in the background. Light and crisp, but the fruit is fake tasting here. Nit very good.
3.6 355ml can. Pours almost clear pale golden colour with a small white ring. Taste of zest, herbs, wheat. Taste of zest, lemon, wheat, yeast, very tasty!
3.5 Tap at Sidedoor. Hazy translucent golden orange body. Thin oily head. I tend to like my Wits with more of an oaky, vanilla feel. This is a decent, clean, enjoyable example of a more spice forward example. The coriander might be the most dominant flavor, balanced by the smooth malt tones. The honey tones start coming through after a few sips. Well made but more of a spiced honey golden ale than a Wit.
3.1 On tap at Tap Room, Bangkok, shared with JMGreenUK. Thick creamy white head. Very hazy amber pour. Refreshing
5.0 First time tasting this beer. Very lite, tasty, palatable. Adding orange slice and some steak or seafood, all is great.lighter than Shocktop in taste.
3.2 Can. A- Coriander, spice, wheat. A- Orange color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Strong coriander, pepper, spices, wheat. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- There was a day when I was head over heels for wits. That day has long passed but I can still appreciate them. At first I was under the assumption this was an orange forward wit reading the name. Had I paid more attention, I would’ve noticed it’s just the name and not orange forward. In fact, I didn’t get much orange peel at all. Pretty much a standard wit by all means. Not bad not great, just decent.
2.9 Not bad for what it is. Aroma and flavor are both predominately orange, with a cereal grain malt backing. Honey is more pronounced in the taste than the aroma. Moderately clear orange-gold with a full white head that falls quickly and leaves a collar of tiny bubbles. A bit of a harshness on the back half of the palate.
2.6 Orange Ave Wit is probably something of a cash cow for Coronado. Beers like this give them the capital to put out beers they really love. I’m not trying to be mean. Honestly. This Wit definitely has its appeal. You have no trouble tasting the orange and honey. This brew offers sweetness on top of sweetness. It’s the kind of thing you could crush effortlessly in summertime no matter who you are. There’s just not a lot to it outside of the intense sweetness.
2.8 On tap at Phils BBQ. Pours a hazy yellow orange with small white head. The aroma is wheat and orange zest. Medium body, wheat, orange peel, light finish, decent.
3.6 From a 12 oz bottle into a New Belgium tulip glass. Pours cloudy orange gold with small head and lace. Aroma of light grains, orange, pale malt. Significant carbonation and medium mouthfeel. Flavors of grains, light malt, dry bread, orange zest, slight herbs. Overall light, refreshing, decent brew.
2.7 Bottle from West Goshen. Clear gold with some white head. Pale malt, yeast, grass, citrus aroma. Orange and wheat notes with a slight metallic tinge. There’s some spice and it’s bitter in the finish. I can’t decide about this beer. I’ve enjoyed it and then I haven’t. Mediocre wit with spice and zest at best.
1.6 Bad wheat beer, fake artificial orange flavor. Waaay to diluted. No body. Worst wit bear of san diego.
