Coronado Sock Knocker IIPA

Coronado Sock Knocker IIPA

Amarillo, Centennial, Columbus and Simcoe hops unite to produce an immensely floral, botanical nose and a veritable explosion of citrus and pine on the palate. With an even more obscene hop overload than our infamous Idiot IPA, it’s an India Pale Ale truly deserving of its imperial crown.

4.6 Aroma: citrus, pine, floral, caramel Appearance: clear golden with a white head Taste: medium sweetness, medium bitterness, Palate: medium body, sticky, average carbonation, bitter finish Delicious
3.1 Light aroma with hint of hops. Light yellow in color with light cloudiness. Hoppy start, mild bitterness. Fades on the finish, lingering malt
3.3 Bottle pour. Hazy golden with large creamy white head. Aroma is tropical fruits and pine. Medium body. Sweet with a light bitter finish.
3.1 Bottle from Tanakaya. Pours a clear orange with a finger of head that dissipates fairly quickly. Some tropical notes along with pine and citrus. Boozy on the palate with pithy bitterness and some pine. A little bit of tropical notes. Finish is boozy and bitter with lots of lingering sweet malts. I don’t hate it by any means, but just a really average double IPA.
4.2 Wonderful aroma. I got it served in a bottle 0.33. I was bit dissapointed with a palate which was somewhat confusing and suggary but all in all very crafty bier.
3.0 An ok IPA. Please an ugly yellow with a white head. Smells nice, fruity with some tropical flavors. Taste starts hoppy, but then fades to nothing, bit of creamy fruity finish. Had on tap at Hopmonk.
3.5 Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a vibrant peach-gold color with a medium sized foamy white head that left great lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy tropical fruit and a bit of pine. The flavor was tangy and sweetish with tropical fruit, pine and a hint of a medicinal note. Long finish with a growing alcohol presence. Moderately full bodied. Good.
3.4 Bottled; light gold in color, low carbonation. Small white foam cap. Nose is apricot, grapefruit and resist Amarillo hops. Smells delicious. Flavor doesn't deliver up to the aroma but still tasty nevertheless. Sweet malts, orange juice, pine sap. Finishes sweet and not dry enough for my taste. Warming alcohol. It's OK.
3.9 solid beer. not sure it is worthy of its title. there are no socks being knocked off here. it is a very smooth offering for such a high ABV. beer pours a nice yellowish color. it has very little aroma to it. and the taste is slightly citrusy. not a bad offering, worth a purchase, but needs to be more hoppy.
3.8 Piney citrus aroma. Pours clear orange with a white head. Good bitter hop flavor with some fruitiness behind it, goes down refreshing.
4.1 Fresh on tap at Coronado. This is money. Low malt, pine and citrus hop explosion, fairly clean finish. This is how I like my IPAs!
3.4 Sock Knocker. Super dry. Lemon zest, cracker malt, big lemon. Excellent West Coast IPA
3.6 22 oz. bottle shared by someone at the Hyatt fart share on Wednesday night. Pours a clear gold with a small white head that settles into a ring. Notes of lemon, tea, mango, papaya, melon, pale and sweet malts, grass. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a clean, balanced mouthfeel. Good DIPA.
3.4 Bottle - Sweet tropical fruit notes. Clearish gold with a decent white head. Sweet, fruity and a light bitter finish
3.7 Bottle shared during RBWG 2016. Pours clear gold with a creamy white head. The nose has ripe citrus fruits, light pine, orange. Medium sweet flavor with nice tropical fruits, melon, mango, papaya, some piney bitterness. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Lightly resinous on the finish, more mango, papaya, pine, pale bread, booze. Good stuff.
3.6 Bottle split in the hotel lobby, 03/02/16. Golden orange with a decent off white covering. Nose is bitter orange, pine, straw, grapefruit. Taste comprises orange pith, toasted malt, pine, grapefruit, sharp melon. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying peppered with hop bitterness. Decent enough DIPA.
3.5 Bottle shared. Very bright Clear gold pour with thin white head. Aroma is leafy, citrusy, lemon drop. Taste is juicy, citrusy hops. Palate is light med bodied with light carbonation. Good
4.1 Rating #1529 - 18.03.2015 - On tap at Coronado Clear golden pour with a bubbly white foam, spotty lacing. FRUIT BOMB! Nose is tangerine, pineapple, grapefruit, passionfruit, essentially the tropics in a blender. Mouthfeel crisp, mild alcohol warmth, low-medium carbonation. Taste is sweet orangey/tangerine notes and assertive bitterness, simcoe and centennial collide beautifully to knock my socks off!
4.0 Sample from a 35.5cl bottle (26 IX 2015), shared with De Meetjeslandse Bierproevers. Such a lovely alcohol warming IPA, with grassy and lemon hops - adding lots of fruity aromas to the excellent looking golden beer with white head. Heavily bitter and medium sweet, this is just a very tastefull ale. As an imperial IPA of 8.5% ABV, the body is fairly massive too. Great!
3.0 With Z, pours a light golden rusty copper color with a beige head . Nose is deep citrus with lighter pine and resin . Taste is less citrus, more bitter with deeper resin and pine . Finishes on the same tasting notes, with a more bittersweet ending . Quaff Score 6 /10 Average at best !
3.3 Bomber. Pours orange with an off white head and aroma of hops and citrus. Taste is bitter, with hops, citrus, pine, and caramel notes leading to a dry, bitter finish.
2.9 (Keg at Tommyknocker Helsinki, 20151219) The beer poured deep golden and hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had herbalness, spices and vinegar. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, spiciness, vinegar, malts, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was sour and bitter. I am really confused if this keg was stale or as it should be.
3.3 355ml bottle. Barely clear, faint, yellow-ish golden colour with small thick, creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, snow-white head. Citrusy and piney hoppy aroma is condensed like astronaut nutrition, only some sugary and zesty lemon flavours evade this black hole’s almond malty gravity centre’s grasp. Taste is pungent bitter hoppy, citrusy, minimally chalky and zesty lemon notes; full-bodied, forthright, well set up - but tolerable without garter.
3.4 Bouteille 355ml.
2.6 Draught @ Bier-Bier, Helsinki. Pours orange with a smooth head. Aroma of tartish fruits, mild sourness, caramely malts and citrus. Taste is malty, caramely and mildly sour with some fruits and grassy hops. Finish is tartish and malty with some mild sourness. Feels a bit off. Will have to re-rate.
3.6 Tap at Bier Bier, Helsinki. Colour is cloudy light orange with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Fruits, citrus, dryness, grape, hops and malts. Not bad.
3.0 12 oz single bottle from Molly’s Spirits into a pint glass. Light orange and pretty clear appearance with a fluffy white head and sticky lacing. Aroma of musty hop resin, bread, earthy yeast, pine, floral notes, light citrus fruits and light herbs. Similar flavor, piney, resinous and bitter, a little unpleasant. Medium plus body with a light sweet finish. Possibly a little dated and kind of hard to drink. Pairing: Widespread Panic - Hatfield, Knocking ’Round The Zoo, from 09/10/92, Monsoons, Flagstaff, AZ
4.0 Crisp, slightly hazy golden and honey coloured body with a nice, dense, three centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of tropical and hybrid hops with a good dose of biscuits and malt right behind. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong hoppy flavour at first with resin, pineapple, passionfruit, guava, flowers and a little malt as well noticeable. Aftertaste is a good balance between sweet, hoppy and malty with perhaps more of the finish showing sugar qualities rather than hops. Overall, a nice beer that shows quite nicely and mellow, especially considering the alcohol. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 05-July-2015 for US$3,99 sampled at home in Washington on 20-October-2015.
4.1 Wonderfull dipa, Plenty of Orange , citrus aroma, some Pine Apple, slitte bit of resins, cloudy, golden, rocky head, white foam. Taste of grapefruit, but a lot of tropical Juice is here, Pineapple, some mango, passion fruit. Lovely bitter finish with a vegetable end, subtle tons of resins. Full bodied, so smooth and creamy.
4.2 Bomber. Clear orange yellow, firm white foam settles and mostly lasts. Aroma of forest fruity hop, faintly floral. Initially bitter citric forest fruit taste, softens quickly, becomes more juicy tropical fruity, leaner caramel malts, very sneaky ABV, but pretty easy for an Impy. Aveage carbonation, medium bodied, well hopped. NFL (Not For Lagerboys)
