Corsendonk Agnus / Abbey Pale Ale

Corsendonk Agnus / Abbey Pale Ale

Bottle: Unfiltered

Ingredients: Pleasant and Triumph barley malts and 7% wheat malt; Styrian Goldings, Hallertu, Herzbrucker and Kent Challenger hops.

It has a very big head indeed - pour it gently - and a very clean palate, beginning with a dry, lightly citric fruitiness, and finishing with a distinctive and delicate, perfumy, hop character. Very light and fluffy in texture, giving little hint of its strength.

Mondgevoel is iets plakkerig.
3.7 Hazy golden color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of yeast, nice fruit, & coriander/spice; Flavor of sweet malt, yeast, fruit, coriander, some hops, and citrus; Finish is fairly dry; Nicely balanced; Enjoyable tripel.
3.6 Bottle. Hazy deep golden colour with a relatively large foamy white head, nose is yeasty, fruity and spicy with notes of cloves, vanilla, peach and gooseberry, taste is sweet and fruity with a tart finish and lots of vanilla and oak in the aftertaste and a creamy mouthfeel.
3.0 Too sweet, and dry at first, but okay
4.4 Lovely golden colour. Smells of passion fruit and gooseberry. Taste is refreshing, Belgium yeast, passion fruit, gooseberry and slight peach. Lovely Belgium beer 🍻
3.2 Clear pale golden with a good white head. Aroma: Sour fruit, passion fruit, citrus, gooseberry. Also malt: Hay, toasted bread. And a hint of yeast (rubber?) Mouth: Fresh fruitiness but mixed with some malty sweetness. Not a heavy beer. On a watery-oily scale it would be watery.

4.1 Goed bier ! Lekker en weinig bitter van smaak (voldoende)
3.5 This is a backlog rating from 2008 from a bottle, from notes. When I had this beer it was average to below average for the style and not something I wanted to have again or I just didn't get back to my notes because of my technology at the time, work and/or family. Words to describe this beer are yeast, pale and sweet malts, moderate fruit character, light spicy, floral, honey, dry finish.
4.8 Wow! What a beer! An absolute favorite. Door install day with my brother in law and this ends the day on the best note ever.
3.6 Certainly looks the part, a slightly cloudy golden ale with a nice big frothy white head. Hints of banana on the nose, a bubbly mouthfeel and a sweet malt flavour, with an underlying alcohol bite and a short, dry finish
3.1 Hazy golden body and white head. Sweet malty, some yeast, grapes and raisins aroma. Malty taste, spicy, some lemon, raisins and hints of yeast. Low/medium body and fizzy carbonation. A good beer.
4.1 330ml Bottle from Carrefour, Gent, Belgium (2020) and 750ml Corked Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle (2006). Aged for around 15 months before sampling. Hazy straw coloured with a massive white head of foam. It has a spicy fruit, floral and lemon flavour with smooth dried fruit notes and more spices on the warming finish. Very good.
3.5 Bevuta in bottiglia. Birra bionda molto buona. Corposa ed equilibrata. Nessuna nota.
3.5 This beer was art and then went to kaufland... lol WTF? All craft beers started to be commercial. It was nice for what I remember about it. Refreshing, golden in colour, little bit alcoholic. Just nice belgian beer. Decent.
2.7 Smell- weak, malt, maybe faint Belgian yeast. Foam- thin, weak malt, weak acidic tones, weak hops. Head is huge, white color. Appearance- beer specific, nice bottle cap, unique bottle with markings right on it, I like that also. Clear orange-amber, medium carbonation. From - snifter Taste - malt, some Belgian yeast, faint caramel, some hops, citrus. Generally feels malty, and very acidic and citrusy, not the best tripel for sure, does not work for me. Old score: 2.7 Re-rate half a year later, the label is different, so I thought it's a different beer, but let's see. Head is medium-sized now and disappears fast, also hoppier. This one is a bit cloudy and with more bitter and faint sour tones, but still nothing special in general. Leaving score as is, does feel a bit better than the first time trying it though.

3.7 Smelling maltier than expected, with a hint of banana. The taste is balanced, mixing some yeast with malty sweetness, which stays within limits. Again banana and some coriander as normally found in wheat beers. It could have done with some more hops. Good, but not really distinctive in its style: a bit of everything.
3.2 Pilsner appearance. Aroma is very much of wet dog, Belgian yeast and pilsner malts. Resembles a lager/pilsner. Tastes better than the aroma. Over medium bitter and halfway medium sweet with a hint of acidity. Medium body and average carbonation. Okay, not great. Tastes more like a tripel than what it smells like.
3.7 Pours a golden color with white head. Floral, honey, (light) Belgian yeast spiced aroma and taste. Notes: bottle from the Shopette, Sep ‘20
3.5 Klare goldene Farbe. Hopfiger, würziger, leicht fruchtiger Geruch. Geschmacklich leicht malzig, leicht hefig, würzig, leicht floral hopfig. Mittlere Süße mit mittlerer Bitterkeit, mittlerer Körper mit spürbarer Kohlensäure.
3.7 330ml bottle from Beers of Europe, King’s Lynn and drunk on 15/11/2009. A very nice triple, with lots of herbal, spicy notes on the nose, and loads of yeasty esters. Soft body, fine carbonation and a warm, lingering fruity, bready, boozy flavour.
3.5 Bottiglia.
