Corsendonk Christmas Ale

Corsendonk Christmas Ale

Bottle: Unfiltered

Previously 8.1%

Ingredients: Pale, Munich and Caramunich malts; Kent Goldings hops.

This is a rich, dark, joyous brew with which to celebrate the holiday season. It’s aroma of chocolate malt and spiciness is reminiscent of the wonderful smells of holiday baking in Mom’s kitchen. Silky smooth on the palate, it’s predominantly malty, with smoky, spicy and citrusy notes and a long, lingering finish that is lightly tart and malty. Bottle conditioned for a fresh, lively taste. Round and well balanced, it’s a welcome addition for holiday tables and beyond.

Sold as King’s Blue in Norway.

3.8 750 ml corked and crowned bottle. Garnet colored pour. Rocky tan head starts big but dissipates to a small uneven cap. Spotty lacing. Yeasty toffeeish malt aroma. Flavor is toasted malt, dark cherries, figs and brown sugar. Some spiciness on the backend.Perhaps some cinnamon, allspice and cloves. Overall, a tasty, smooth Belgian Christmas beer.
3.7 Bottle, 33 cl. Overall pleasant: a winter warmer, but not too boozy. Sweet features, malt dominates.
3.6 Christmas Strong Ale. Very dark mahogany color with ruby reflections and an average and medium persistent head of hazelnut color. Aromas of caramel, sour cherries, candied fruits, red wine, pepper, cloves and vague notes of vanilla and chocolate. The taste is characterized by flavors of slightly burnt caramel, red fruits, black pepper, cloves and a constant bittersweet palate reminescent of liquorice and bitter cocoa. The body is medium-heavy, with a distinct carbonation and imperceptible alcohol. Overall a very good Strong Ale to warm up a cold winter night.

5.0 I enjoyed this beer very much. High quality product. As strong as it takes for the Christmas dishes. Liked also the flavors very much but this is subjective off course. I prefered a better etiquette design though.

4.0 Aroma; malt, toffee, spices, prunes, cherries, figs, dates, tart, clove, hops, coriander. Look; tan head on silky mahogany body. Taste; malt, toffee, spices, prunes, cherries, figs, dates, tart, clove, hops, coriander, and leading to a nice finish with notes of liquorice hops. Feel; nice body, but co² could've been smoother. Overall; xmas party. [čištění starého nepořádku, lahvové pivo, koup@ německém obchodě]
