Creemore Springs Traditional Pilsner

Creemore Springs Traditional Pilsner

The first pilsner was brewed in 1842, over a hundred years ago, in the Bohemian town of Plzen. Revolutionary at the time, it was a fired-brewed beer characterized by a rich golden colour, sweet malty flavour and an abundance of hops. Our brewmaster visited the Czech Republic to study their methods and in honour of our 20th anniversary we are proud to share his interpretation of this classic beer style.

Similar to original pilsners, our direct fire brewing process and combination of specialty malts yield a beer with a deep golden colour and delicious malt flavours. Natural spring water creates a soft pure background on which Czech hops impart a fresh fragrant aroma and bitter finish.

2.6 Pours a clear and dark golden with a big white head that fades fast but leave good lacing. Aroma is herbal, earthy, vegetal. I usually call it "tobacco" but this time I am not so sure. There are some toasted grains in there for sure. Taste is not too sweet and slightly bitter. Flavors of cereals, mostly. Texture is oily, carbonation sufficient. It never feels watery and is never hard to drink. It’s just that it is pretty unremarkable...
2.6 On tap at Craft Beer Market Vancouver, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma of grass, corn and other adjuncts. Flavour is similar, with grass, crisp crackery malts, and a slight sweetness. Drinkable and clean, but not the most elegant pilsner. Decent.
2.9 471 like a beast. Yellow pour, pillowy head. Malt forward pils with a touch of grass. Mild sweetness, rich mouthfeel. Not bad.
3.2 471 ml can. Pours a clear golden with a resilient white head. Flavor is pils malt, grains, cereals. Finish is herbal, resin. Medium body, soft mouthfeel, average carbonation. Alright.
2.4 Aroma of Karamalz and unripe rock melons. Flavour has more bitterness, grassy, with citrus and hay. Crisp as a Pilsener should be, but meh... Tick!
3.3 473 ml can. Pours golden with a just off white thick head. Aroma is of bread and malt. Flavour is solidly malty and slightly sweet. Body is medium to heavy with strong carbonation. Finish is smoothly bitter.
3.0 341 bottle from local iga A: herbacy, cereal App: clear blond small white head. t/p: thin body with short and sweet finish O: average no more
1.8 though I could be wrong on that. Pours golden with some decent duration head. Taste has a little bitterness and some crips malt. A touch of sweetness on the long term aftertaste. Alright for style. Tall can.
3.4 Deep golden colour. Great spicy floral hop flavour which stays on the palate. It has a great malty aroma which stands out from other pilsners.
3.2 473ml can. It’s a Pils -- and a good, clean crisp one. Grainy and sweet but short on hops. Decent for the style, though it’s not a style I usually enjoy.
2.7 pours a light amber with thin head. Some grapefruit and other citrus, but I expected the pilsner to be a lot hoppier after drinking the lager. Overall, this is ok, but would be a waste of time for true Czech pilsner fans.
3.1 Pours a light yellow color with a quickly disappearing white head. Light malt aroma with some bread. Taste is mostly hops with a little grain and a little sweetness. light bodied but pretty crisp and I found it quite pleasant.
2.5 Pours a very light hazed yellow color with a very low white head. Aroma is a bit off. Smells slightly metallic and cheap with some light spicy hops. Flavor starts off okay with a modest amount of grain flavor balanced by a good dose of grassy and spicy hops bitterness. Toward the end something happens where the brew doesn’t hold up and gets a slight wet/sour malt, light veggie taste maybe a little bit of band aid. Body is light with almost no carbonation. Overall not a brew I would want but could be drinkable after a few other brews earlier in the evening.
0.5 HATE IT, THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST DISCUSTING BEERS OUT THERE THE FLAVOR THE SMELL, THE HANGOVER, JUST TERRIBLE QUALITY BEER OVERALL
3.0 Pours a light straw. Light malt aroma with a hint of nut and lemon - not too exciting, but pleasant. Light bodied with a good crisp, but light hop profile. Hints of lemon and orange emerge. Easy drinking.
2.7 Clear golden yellow with quickly fading white foam head, although lacing to glass. Aroma is weak malt. Bit high carbonated. Taste is decent bitter pilsener, not too sweet. Aftertaste is weak hoppy bitterness. (Ottawa 201210)
2.9 Good but not great. Expected better given the excellence of their premium lager.
3.0 Smells saazy, though I could be wrong on that. Pours golden with some decent duration head. Taste has a little bitterness and some crips malt. A touch of sweetness on the long term aftertaste. Alright for style. Tall can.
2.6 Served in a mug. A little dark. Light buttery aroma. Taste is pretty bland, not a lot going on. Mouthfeel is sticky. Overall boring, but goes ok with dinner.
3.0 Clear deep yellow, foamy white head lasts. Grassy malty aroma. Fresh, fat malty lager taste, unsweet, but not enough hops to balance it out. Softly carbed, light bodied, low hopped. Finishes malty clean. Nice enough, but hardly a Bohemian Pils. LF (Lagerboy Friendly)
3.0 Gold, lasting white head, small bead.Faint spicy hop nose.effervescent noble hop profile, however a metallic finish spoils this somewhat. Possibly a bad bottle, will rerate at a later date.
2.7 A nice pilsener. Well balanced between sweetness and dryness. Quality stuff.
2.9 Really nice pilsner. Sweet grainy and grassy aromas with toasty grain flavours. Mild finish...sweeter up front.
2.7 473ml can. Small white head - dissipates fairly quickly in glass to leave trace amount of lacing. Aroma is mildly acidic/alcoholic and somewhat soapy. Bright yellow brew (Lovibond 6). Tastes lightly bitter and acidic initially. Gives way to a wet palate, with odd aftertaste of average duration. Soft carbonation.
3.0 Out of the four Creemores I’ve had, this is my least favourite. That’s not saying much, however, as anyone who’s tried their brews knows. It’s just a pilsner. I don’t doubt the authenticity of the ingredients, I just don’t find that much of a difference between different beers of the style. Much better than the typical Middle America/Canada mainstream lagered beer, though, so definitely recommended. My only beef was the lack of head, so I’ve got to double-check that.
3.7 473ml can. Pours a slightly hazy straw/gold with ample fluffy head. Nice aroma, herbal hops and a light sweetness. Taste is much the same. Body is wonderfully smooth, dry and light. Overall, super easy to drink.
3.3 From the bottle, pours a clear amber, lots of carbonation with a white head. On the nose malty, slightly floral, I don't get to much in the way of hops other than the subtle spicyness of Saaz. Fairly bubbly on the palate, sweet start with a small bitter finish. Good beer.
3.3 This beer has very unappealing appearance. It is hazy and has dirty golden colour. Head is white and average. The after taste is quite unique, almost reminds of taste of coffee. It does not linger too long in your mouth. medium bitterness, Texture of the beer is average, as well as carbonation. medium body,
3.2 355ml bottle pours a pale golden color with a finger of white head that settles to leaves a few spots of lacing. Aroma is light cereal grains and spicy hops. Taste is light malty sweetness with a sharp spicy hop bitterness that finishes clean. Light to mediun body and adequate carbonation leave a pleasing sensation on the palate. Fits in nicely with the best of this style and highly recommended to sample.
