Cricket Hill American Ale

Cricket Hill American Ale

Cricket Hill American Ale is an easy drinking “amber” ale with a wonderful balance of caramel sweetness and hop flavor. The aroma has a slight note of citrus and rock candy. There is not an imported ale on the market that tastes this fresh.

1.9 Hazy amber pour. Aroma of berries and light hops. Has an off metallic taste throughout. Unappealing finish. Tastes like a poorly done home brew. Nasty.
0.5 Bottle: Massive infection......nothing but a glass of sour-smelling tan foam with a consistency of melted whipped cream....aaaaaackkkk!!! THPTHT!!!!!! (Bill The Cat) >>>I’ll try to hunt down another and re-rate.....figured I’d enter it anyway, I found it, I bought it, I wanted to drink it. I’m sorry this reflects poorly on the garden state.
3.4 12 oz bottle. Pours orange with a long lasting, thick white head. Aroma is of caramel, bready malt and citrusy hops. Body is medium and crisp. Citrusy, earthy hops, caramel and bready malt fill the mouth. Finish is long and hoppy. Nice session brew.
3.6 Deep amber color. Pretty tasty looking. Toffee camdi sugar aroma. Flavor isuch the same but mostly toffee and caramel. Nice candi sugar sweetness. Finish has a bit of hop bitterness and some dark fruits.
3.6 Pours a rich amber hue backed up by ruby grapefruit high lites. There is a slight haze, perhaps nothing more then chill haze. There was very little in way of foamy head during the pour, but a thick surface lacing was always present during the session, There is a nice balance of aromas here between sweet caramel malts and lively citrus hops. A good tasting beer here and as in the aromatics the taste is equally balanced. Malts are sweet and hops have a lively citrus taste. In the finish you taste biscuits and malt husks. A good solid medium body I’d say. Beer starts out sweet and ends on a dry note. Not much of an aftertaste.
3.2 Pours a clear amber-orange from the bottle. Noticed a layer of yeast on the bottom of the bottle, so I didn’t pour the last 1/4 inch into the glass. Thick head still there after 5 minutes. No hop aroma to speak of, but enough bitterness to balance the malt when tasting. Has a refreshing, dry crispness that makes it enjoyable enough for the price. Fills the gap between mass-produced drivel and overpriced, over-hopped IPAs. One might enjoy several of these on a warm afternoon without having to reach for the antacids. . .
1.9 Bottle. Opens with much more of a pop than I expected and I immediatly put it over the sink in case it was a gusher. The head rose up to the neck but not over. Pours all foam, :o(. Very cloudy pale-ish orange color. Sweet aroma of apple and citrus. Medium/light mouthfeel with carbonation. Fail. Terrible taste. Off notes of fruity and a slight vegetable note as well. Good job Cricket HIll!
3.2 Savannah, Ga - Habersham Beverage Warehouse, 12 oz bottle. Medium Orange pour, soft off-white head. Spicy aroma, hint of pine. Flavor has a citrus bent to it, some soft spicy notes. a bit of nuttiness. Spritzy mouthfeel. Overall, decent.
3.1 Bottle. Aroma hay, cereal, and banana. Pillowey head that fades very slowly. Nice Amber color. Pretty flavorful. Nice red amber
2.3 Bottle to glass mug. Pours a copper / amber color with a sparse off white yellowish head. Lots of malt flavors going on. Maybe a smokey or roasted malt flavor. Has an acrid twinge on the aftertaste. meh.
3.9 Pours a cloudy copper gold with a thick white head. Aroma has a strong hint of hops. Flavor is well balanced between the hops and the malt with an unusual sugary sweetness in the finish. Not what I think of when drinking an amber ale...to me it is more like a sweet IPA. This would be an excellent choice to go with spicy Mexican or Southwestern food to help cut through the heat.
3.0 bottle 3/21/11. orange amber. slight ow head. the aroma and flavor are noticeable grapefruit and caramel... that’s pretty much it. inoffensive, clean, lacking character...amber. 5/3/5.5/3/13
2.5 12oz bottle courtesy of pineypower. Pours a bright amber/orange with a large off-white head. Aroma of musky fruits, caramel, citrus, and slight hops. Taste of mineral and pine with mineral riding to the end, citrus and caramel. If there were beer flavored multiple vitamins, this would be it.
3.1 Pours a hazy orange color with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma of malts and not much else. Flavor light caramel with mostly toasted malts. Smooth. Pretty good.
3.1 a good drinking beer but it has a few flaws in it. the beer has a nice assortment of malts with a good a non threatening hops. taste a bit astringent at the end. Very good over all
2.2 The aroma is earthy with a hint of smoked peat, metal, and cardboard. The appearance is copper with a small head. The taste is better than the aroma but not by much. The palate is average. Overall the favor is not very good because it is a lot like the aroma.
2.4 Again, this company suffers from thin bodied beer and thin taste. Everything from the aroma’s to the tastes are barley noticeable. It looks like they have potential, just use a bit more in the amount of ingreadients you use. Please our palettes.
3.1 12 ounce bottle. Pours a clear amber with a nice fluffy biege head. Aroma of piney hops and malt. Taste is malt, caramel, hops and some citrus. Easy to drink. Enjoyable.
2.8 Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite - Jersey City, 10/9/11 Aroma: The aroma is rather light, it has some light toast, caramel, earth, and a touch of fruit Appearance: Pours a cloudy orange-amber color, with a small white head, and mid lace Flavor: Tastes fairly balanced, some light sweetness and light bitterness, with a slightly acidic finish Palate: The body is light-medium, the mouthfeel is a touch dusty, and it has a smooth, lasting finish Overall Impression: This beer was decent, but not really my favorite. I didn’t hate it, but there is just something a bit off. From the acidic(ish) finish to the dustiness, I have a few gripes. Still though, it isn’t a terrible brew. I’d give it another shot, but I wouldn’t rush out for that opportunity.
3.1 12oz bottle. light brown color, off-white head. Aroma of toasted barley malt, pine & floral hops. Tastes of hop florals, loads of toasted malt. Finishes with a lingering bitterness. A great session beer.
2.8 bottle. pours a dark murky orange with a small frothy white head. faint malty nose but not too exciting. flavor has notes of light bitterness and a modest toasty caramel flavored malt. not sweet. not hoppy. light to medium body.
2.0 Pours amber with a 1 finger, eggshell head that has nice retention and has a little lacing. Aroma is sweet malt, citrus hops and a touch of mineral water. Flavor is caramel, cereal grain, heavy toast, mineral water and light citrus hops. Palate is light bodied and slick, but dry with a copper and iron mineral backing, a bit like I bit my mouth bad enough for it to bleed and then washed it down with a carbonated beverage. Weird, this is really like a middle of the road Amber Ale mixed with a healthy dose of blood minerals.
2.9 Pretty nice amber ale with good flavor and a nice mouthfeel. Much better than the last Cricket Hill beer I had, i was a little worried.
2.8 Malty and a bit sweet. A bit watery in the finish with hints of bitter hoppiness as well. Easy to drink.
3.1 Not much in the way of aroma apart from some faint malty aromas. Lightly roasted in the flavor, not as sweet as most amber ales. Drinkable but far too faint in flavor.
2.5 Roasty balanced ale. Medium bodied and done well but nothing stands out to me... a bit flat and safe.
3.6 Bottle. Pours a very slightly hazy copper color with a nice off-white head that leaves enticing lace. The aroma is of amber malt and citric and resinous hops. Delicious and balanced, and the flavor follows suit. Not too physically "out-standing", but definitely very balanced--an ideal session brew. Medium body and carbonation. Overall: a great session beer.
3.1 bottle from the brewery, poured nicely with little head. very drinkable and a god session beer.
3.2 Bottle from a trade with emacgee. Pours clear amber color with light tan head. Toasted malt aroma with some pine hops. Light caramel flavor with some hop bitterness. Light to medium body with above average carbonation. Thanks Ethan.
3.5 12 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA, 8/30/10. Pours a clear amber color with a moderate white head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel malts, nutty notes, earthy hops and stone fruits. The taste is caramel, toasted malts and a leafy hop finish. Medium bodied.
