Cricket Hill East Coast Lager

Cricket Hill East Coast Lager

The East Coast Lager is an easy drinking “golden” lager with a wonderful balance of crisp malt flavors and flowery hop finish. Built specifically with very low bitter aftertaste, the aroma is as clean as the taste. A difficult beer to brew because of the gentleness… this beer is magnificent!

2.5 12oz bottle. Pours a clear golden straw color with a fizzy white head. Aroma of sweet grain, grass, and some floral hops. Taste of grain, cereal, faint citrus, and floral hops.
3.0 Bottle:   Golden straw, slight haze, moderate sudsy white head, spotty lacing.   Soft hops on the nose, a bit of barnish wheaty malts as well.   Soft citrusy notes, pale hops, with a musty wheat background.   Seems more of an Ale than a lager.   Has a faint soapy dishwater or floral soap like backside.   Again, this feels a lot more Ale like than Lager like.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   As it warms the nose becomes a bit more floral.   Smells like an Ale, feels like an Ale, finishes a bit like a lager, fairly smooth.   Still kinda up in the air on this one.   Its decent, even if a little bit of both worlds.
1.8 Bottle. Pours light golden with little to no head. Aromas of grain, old socks, and light floral notes. The flavor is much of the same but with a odd finish. Ehhhh not feeling this at all.....here ya go drain!
2.5 Not as bad as some of the reviews would show. It is a basic american lager with a little bit of hops. Nothing great but not bad.
2.5 Piss colored with fluffy yellow head. Belgianesque aroma. Taste is fruity hoppy and metallic. Kinda gross.
2.0 Pours hazy yellow with a short, off-white head. Aroma of sweet citrus and malt. Taste is a doughy, leafy, bitter. Not exactly pleasant.
2.2 Bottle. Sweet citrusy, slightly rancid aroma. Hazy golden with an excessively large foamy white head. Citrus peel, light bready malt, fruity flavor. Light body, lively carbonation.
2.0 Bottle. Mildly sour barley malt aroma. Cloudy golden yellow with giant head. Sweet barley malt and moderately bitter weedy flavor. Not so good.
3.1 Potent pale hop, wheat, light citrus smell. Hops, rice, lemon taste. Thin body, medium carbonation and bitterness. I enjoyed it
0.5 Bought a case. 1st 6 were okay. 2nd 6 were infected. Cricket Hill only gave partial refund. Rep. indicated this hapened a number of times. If u have a problem with infected beer FIX it before u sell it!
2.8 Bottle to pint (thanks John). Looks good for a lager; gold with fluffy white head and lively carbonation. Smells doughy and a little skunky, but in a good way. Tastes like it smells with a solid mouthfeel. A good example of the style.
2.8 Bottle. Yellowish orange clear pour. Floral, malt. Light upfront with good carbonation. Slight bitterness with sweet bread. Short but balanced and clean finish
3.3 Location/Date:Bottle on October 28th, 2012. Appearance: Pours a cloudy orange yellow, darker than the standard "pale lager". Aroma: Aroma of faint floral hop, some cereal malt but not bad like other pale lagers. Taste:Some floral notes, citrus, light bitterness, light malt Palate:Light body, quick aftertaste. Summary: First off, thanks Ben! I figured it was appropriate to drink this "East Coast Lager" while the East Coast is about to get drenched by Hurricane/Whatever Sandy. To be fair, I see pale lager don’t think very much of the beer. However, I’m impressed with this one. Nice lighter beer, nothing outstanding but it might be the best of it’s category I’ve had. Oh, and Ben, if you are still reading, whatever bad finish you tasted on your sample of this beer is not on this one.
2.0 Pours pale gold with a thin, soapy, white head that has decent retention and leaves a little lacing. Aroma is grass, spice, hay, toast, bready yeast and cereal grain. Flavor is mostly a sort of sweet breadiness up front with some toast coming in toward the finish along with the spicy, planty hops. Palate is thin throughout, starts a little oily and finishes off dry with a moderate strength, sharp carbonation. It’s odd, the hops don’t really come in until near the finish, but fade very quick and the beer finishes pretty clean, despite starting sweet and finishing hoppy (relative to the style in both cases), I would imagine this could appeal to many BMC drinkers. Seems more like a premium lager, as is is pretty well hopped and fairly malty, though it may not be all malt.
2.5 bottle from eel basher to glass; nice aroma of malts/floral. weak piss color pour. taste = hoppy bitterness to me; lessens as it warmed. no thanks.
2.6 Bottle from wine warehouse Charlottesville. Pours dark golden with a quarter inch of white foam which leaves a slight amount of lacing. Not much on the nose except for a faint malt smell. Fairly thin on the tongue witha bit of a citrus thing on the finish. Not as crisp and clean or as flavorful as I’d hoped.
3.0 On tap for growler fills at Half Time. Pours a clear gold with a medium to thick white head. Sweet corn and grain on the nose. Weird grain. Strange, almost chalky bitterness. Sweet and grainy on the finish.
2.7 It’s got the slightly sweet maltiness of a lot of lagers, but is fairly easy to drink. Pours cloudy with no head. OK, but nothing remarkable.
2.5 From notes: Poured hazy straw color with a small, thin white head that was gone quickly. Aroma was light, with grassy and yeasty notes. Body is a touch on the thin side. Flavor was very light. Grassy, with a touch of yeast and maybe a touch of citrus.
2.8 Moderate old grain aroma. Hazy golden color with a medium white head. Mild bitter beginning that fades in the finish.
2.8 Bottle. Outstanding for the style - deep yellow pour with a small white head. Aroma and taste feature some grassy hops and a touch of sweetness - excellent alternative to BMC.
2.8 Savannah, Ga - Habersham Beverage Warehouse - 12 oz can. Murky medium gold pour with a rocky white head. Wort-like aroma with some grainy notes. Flavor has some grainy notes, cereal like blandness, pretty plain lager but not bad tasting - does not have the adjunct notes that the big macros have. Smooth mouthfeel, overall, decent.
2.6 Bottle. Pale yellow color. No flavor, smell or characteristics really. Just a better choice of a session beer over a Macro
2.0 Bottle to glass mug. Pours a clear yellow with a moderate white head. Lots of effervescence, and a scent of lemon. Has a pretty bland mouthfeel / taste. Malty notes, and pretty bland. Not offensive...just....there.
3.5 12 oz bottle. Pours golden with a thick white head, a lot of lacing and carbonation. Aroma is of pale malt and grassy hops. Medium, crisp body. A good amount of herbal hops is balanced by biscuit malt on the palate. Finish is long, clean and hoppy. I did not expect much from this brew, but I actually enjoyed it.
2.5 A simple beer. Gold pour mild malt, floral hop aroma. A clean midly hop bitter finish. Very plain.
2.9 Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 11/21/11 Aroma: The nose is mostly made up of floral, citrus, yeast, and grain notes Appearance: Pours a clear golden-orange color with a foamy white head and heavy lace Flavor: The taste is mid sweet up-front, transitioning into a later bitterness; aftertaste is quite off Palate: The body is light, the mouthfeel is crisp and clean, and it ends with a lengthy, poor finish Overall Impression: This one was a basic, rather unexciting, attempt at a lager. I thought the components were pretty decent overall, but that finish really damages my opinion of the beer. It just doesn’t leave a good taste in your mouth, and, since it is your final impression, it doesn’t leave a good feeling about the beer. Still, that is only one component of the beer, and so I will try not to let it completely affect my opinion/score.
2.4 very substandard with a weak malty presence and a very grassy hoppy after taste. weak palate and little fizz to the beer. its good only for social situations.
2.0 The aroma is dusty and metallic with malt and hops. The appearance is golden with a small head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is typical for the style. Overall not a very good drink.
1.6 bottle. a cloudy pale gold with no head. no aroma. super subtle. a hint of vanilla and one drop of bittering hop in a bottle. light, dry, and fluffy. like drinking cotton balls.
