3.9 Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours dark ruddy brown with a slight, transient tan head. Aroma of wood and cherries. A bit musty. Med body or so. Moderately sour. Sour red/brown fits. Cherries are quite noticeable. Another interesting ale.
3.6 Battle shared by Marcus. Pours brown to red in color. Tan head that was gone quick. Aroma is musty. Taste is oaky with some sour from the cherry
4.3 750 ml bottle shared. The beer is a darker color with a thin pinkish head of foam. Jammy sour cherry notes all over the place. Strongly acidic taste, but the cherry character is just phenomenal here. Medium body and medium carbonation.
4.2 [2018/05/12] At MBCC 2018 - 4th Session. Pours Cherry With A Small Head, Aroma Of Cherries, Brett, Flavor Is Sour With Cherries, Cherry Stones, Medium Bodied , Really Great. [9/4/9/3/17 - 4.2]
4.3 Fat på MBCC 2018, grönt pass. Mörk brun/rostfärgad med beiget skum. Riktigt syrlig med massor av körsbärskärnor och kärnsyra. Fin fatkaraktär och inslag av rödvin. Riktigt gott!
4.1 Tap. Aroma is almonds, cherry skin, cherry stone, vineous, barrel funk. Taste is cherry stone, almonds, lots of barrel funk, fresh, not puckering but still very tart. Oily mouthfeel with low carbonation. Very good!
3.5 Tap @MBCC2018, Green Session. Clear, very dark red brown. Offwhite head. Malt and cherry aroma. Sour flavour, sour cherry. Light funk.
3.8 Pours cherry brown with minimal head. Aromas tart of cherries, oak, red berries. Taste has very tart notes of cherries, raspberries, red berries
3.8 Draft at brewery 11-8-15
4.0 Very dark brown pour, minimal head. Fantastic aroma of cherries and concord grapes, with vinegar notes. Extremely flavorful -- cherry and vinegar, red wine. Dayum.
4.1 September 2017 - Keg at Beavertown Extravaganza. As 'Crooked Stave Mama Bear's Cherry Pie'. Dark reddy brown, foamy light brown head. Aroma is rich cherry, kriek, cherry juice. Body is smooth with soft to tingly carbonation. Taste is more cherry juice, funky, rich and juicy, little plastic. Rich and rounded and assertive but not too acidic. Very good. (8-4-8-4-17=4.1)
3.3 27/VIII/17 - on tap @ BXL Beer Fest - BB: n/a (2017-1438) Thanks to the (Belgian) RB crew for sharing today's beers! Clear dark red brown beer, creamy beige head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: very spicy, cinnamon, caramelised pecan nuts, sweetish with a vinegar touch, pretty nice! MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very acidic, vinegar, lots and lots of tannins, cinnamon. Aftertaste: spicy, vinegar, cherries, some tannins, very bitter, dry finish, too harsh of an acidity going on here. Seriously, are we brewing beer or industrial acid?
3.6 sampled at a Halloween party, very heavy sour, good flavor but some acid in the finish. Overall good sour
3.6 Sour berries, lemon, lime, wood, more rich, dark, candied cherries. Hazy, very dark reddish brown, tiny, frothy, off-white head. Heavy sour. Acidic, lemon, lime, sour cherries, tangy, soft carbonation, medium bodied. Very sour this Sour. Keg at Beavertown Extravaganza 17, Canada Water.
4.0 Shared at Corbet’s house on September 11. 375 mL bottle. The pour is a nicer ruby brown color with a thicker tan head and a lack of lace as it falls down to a thin collar. The aroma is pretty good. The light vinegary sour comes through first, but the cherry pie filling comes through next. Total canned pie filling, tart cherry additions, and a little bit more vinegar sour on the back end. The flavor is much of the same. The cherries are nicely balanced with a strong sourness to it and a light cherry skin behind it. I like the tart cherry pie filling. The mouth feel is more of a lighter medium body with a moderate carbonation and a lingeringly tart and sour cherry on the finish. Pretty good. 8 4 8 4 16
4.0 @BXL Beerfest Huge vinegar and cherry sour in the aroma. Taste is Vlaams Bruin, cherries, vinegar, some balsamic vinegar, oak. Very sour. Palate is sour and oaky. Nice aftertaste with cherries and oak.
4.2 Thank you for sharing Martinus! Sampled draft @ BXLBeerFest 2017. Dark brown, tanned head. Nose is massive canned cherries, cherry pie filling, extreme but also extremely sour, vinegar,… Highly delicious but also insanely sour, real acid burn, vinegar & massive canned cherry pie filling, Body is vinegar & cherry juice. Very nice but also punishing.
4.2 Bottle. Hazy brown pour, small white head. Nose sour, taste is sour with a cherry finish. Real nice. Full body, soft carbonation.
3.5 Draught@CBC2016. Red hazy colour with a small pinish head. Aroma is cherries, cherry stones, some dry sour wooden notes. Flavour is cherries, vanilla, some tartness along with mild wood.
4.0 On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2016. It’s almost a little brown in the glass this one, soft cloudy and on top a small islandy and sidesticking beige head. I like the both sour and quite sweet fruitiness in the aroma. Sweet cherries compot, some clear wood, it’s also spicy this - the pumpkin-kind. Nice aroma. It doesn’t really taste sweet, but cherries there are. Cherries and strawberries. Mild red wine vinegar and wood. Dryish tail. Really nice. 14.05.2016
3.8 (On tap @ CBC 2016 Red Session, Copenhagen) Pours hazy medium brown with a red tinge, pale tan head. Aroma is quite tart despite the pie reference, a fair amount of cherry flesh, funky barnyard, cherry pits, slight almond, wood, acetic acid. Flavour is fairly sour, sour cherry flesh, almond and cherry pit, lemon juice, red wine vinegar, decent helping of funk. Persistent cherry pit and almond bitterness in the finish, lingering acidity. Fairly light bodied, a touch watery, soft carbonation. Persistently sour, all the parts of the cherry present, nice if not super drinkable in the long run.
3.8 Bottle at Ratebeer Best Beer Festival. 31/01/2016. A clear reddy brown / cherry coloured pour with a loose greyish whitehead. Aroma is sour cherry fruits, plastic hockey puck, cherry, woody cherry pips. Flavour is composed of puckering sour, cherry, raspberry, nice funk, brett, raspberry fruit. Palate is sour puckering cherry, super drying finish. Nice fruit character.
4.4 Pours a cloudy/hazy reddish brown color with off-white beige colored head. Tart cherries, funk, pie crust, and some oak on the nose; follows onto the palate. Light bodied. Finishes with tart cherries and a creamy note.
4.0 Sweet and sour cherry! Pretty red brown pour. Nice balance of real cherry and dark fruit, barnyard funk, and lemon tart. Delicious as usual from CS
4.2 A 375ml bottle, bottled in September 2015. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass. It was a slightly cloudy dark reddish brown colour, with a just over one finger reddish beige head that dissipated slowly and left some sparse lacing. Aromas were of tart and sweet cherry, oak and perhaps a light funk. Tastes sour, strong lemon juice with some cherry and oak creeping through here and there and hints of almond. Long acidic sour finish. Medium to light bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall while there was some sweetness in the aroma, it was pretty much mostly sour with an acidic bite in the taste. I think you really have to like sour things to enjoy this beer and luckily I do like sour things. Would have preferred it, if more cherries came through though, since cherry pie is in the name, but that is not a deal breaker.
3.6 Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer. CBC #159
3.7 Draft @ CBC 2016. Pours a dark amber brown color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity sour spicy cherry aroma with hints of caramel. Fruity sour tart cherry flavor. Has a fruity sour tart cherry finish.
3.7 Over the top sour cherry, the real thing. Thought that cherry pie would indicate some sweetness but nooo.
4.0 Tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration, 2016.Medium brown body with a small offwhite head. Yeast, barnyard, cobweb notes, cherries, funk, acidic vinegar notes.
