4.3 Tap at Muted Horn. Opaque reddish with pink head. Super juicy raspberry, very tart. Some citrus too and some hay. Mostly like a tart raspberry smoothie. Fabulous.
4.0 (Tap sample @ CBC 2016 Green Session, Copenhagen) Pours deep dark pink to red coloured, with a medium pink head. Aroma leads with a big punch of raspberries as expected, fresh raspberry but also raspberry pie and candy, a bit woody, really fruit forward. Flavour is tart raspberry, berry seeds, light strawberry, wood, lactic lemon, rather sour overall, crisply acidic, no real sweetness from the darker malt so it has a shorter finish than might be expected of style. Light to medium bodied, maybe a little watery, soft carbonation. Doesn't feel like a sour red with the fruit addition, just a pure fruit sour, but a tasty one.
4.1 Bottle. Hazy Dark purple pour, small White head. Sour Nose, crisp sour taste. Really good. Medium body, soft carbonation.
4.1 [9150-20170420] 375mL bottle. Super raspberry juice aroma. Hazy, dark deep red body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white pink head. Fruity raspberry yeast and sour sour fruity berry flavour. Medium body is quite tart. Delicious. (8/4/9/4/16) 4.1 (Crooked Stave Tap Takeover @ Birreria Volo, Toronto, ON)
4.3 A 375ml bottle, bottled in December 2015. Poured into a Cantillon ballon glass. It was a dark burgundy ruby red colour with a just over one finger off pink with a dark orange hued head that dissipated fairly quickly to a thin cap with some nice lacing. There was some very nice sweet and tart raspberry jammy aromas with perhaps a hint of oak. Tastes sour and tart raspberries and lemon to begin, followed by some light sweet jammy raspberries and a hint of oak. It finishes sour again with lemon, some citric acidity and a touch of grapes. Medium bodied with moderate to light carbonation and a dry-ish finish. Overall the aromas were stunning and while the taste didn’t quite match up to the aroma, it was still very good.
3.9 On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2016. This is a a warm cloudy almost purple red one with a small sidesticking pinkish head. Smells of raspberries, cherries, some wood. Really good and light acidic. Well sour in the taste also! It’s oily in the mouth and above average on the carbonation. A lovely tasting raspberry bomb this. Delish! 14.05.2016
3.8 2017-04-20. Dark brown body modest beige head. Aroma has big jammy raspberry character up front. Muted dark malt below. Flavour is fairly sour, seemingly more so than the regular Origins. Tart sour raspberry follows. Smooth average bodied palate, soft to low carbonation. 7/3-4/7-8/3/15-16 Bottled at Birreria Volo, Toronto.
3.5 375ml bottle. Burgundy colour with average, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, pinkish head. Fruity aroma is slighty raspberry dominated, additional notes of dark and red berries in general, hints of blue grapes. Taste is extremely sour, fruity, notes of red and dark berries, blue grapes, slight raspberry predominance. Too sour, pyrosis evocative.
3.9 Bottle shared with the KL tastinfg group. Poured a hazy reddish brown with a bubbly off white head. The aroma is rich sweet jammy raspberry fruit. The flavour is moderate sour with a crisp fresh tart raspberry fruit, light dough biscuit yeast palate. Medium bodied with lively carbonation.
4.0 Murky dark red color with pinkish head. Aroma has some balsamic vinegar notes and intense fruit character. Taste starts quite sour up-front, really fruity, quite acidic, really dry on the finish. Light body, dry, medium carbonation. Really sour and fruity ale.
4.0 @Basunen 17-3-4: Mycket stor doft av hallon och svarta vinbär. Lagom syrlighet och en fyllig bärsmak i god kombination. Jättegott

4.0 375 ml bottle. Bottled on 12/2015. Pours dark clear red color with a small pink head. Aroma is dark berries, raspberries, yeast, wood. Flavor is extremely tart fruity with citric notes, raspberries, yeast, wood, earthy. Mouthwatering. The style is more like a Sour/Wild Ale. 3465
4.0 375 ml bottle. Pours a dark ruby colour with a small head. Aroma of rich juicy raspberries, wood and really fresh herbal notes. Flavour of heavy juicy raspberry, wood, a bit of vanilla, red wine, tart wooden notes and some malts. Medium bodied. Long, dry, wooden finish. Great!
4.0 375ml bottle from Boxbeers. Batch December 2015. Pours very dark and deep red with a small head. Aroma of tart raspberries, oak, wood, funky sourness and yeast. Taste is tartish, funky and sourish with loads of oak, raspberries, wood, hints of bretta, vinegar and earthiness. Finish is mouth drying tart, sourish and slightly sweet with loads of dark raspberry juice, hints of oak and vinous notes. Good.
3.8 37,5 cl bottle @ Leppävaara, bottled 12/2015 Aroma has strong raspberry juice tones and quite nothing else. Flavour has tart raspberries, some earthy notes and berry juice. Aggressive yet balanced. Nice. By taste this is lambic/fruit and not sour red. This tastes just like a raspberry lambic does.
3.9 Bottle at Churchkey into a snifter showing moderately filtered wine red with sparse white foam. The nose shows an intense, concentrated, yet deep, round, and sweet raspberries. Fantastic nose. The palate is medium bodied and highly carbonated. Highly tart with a lot of tart dry raspberries with the same resurgence of fruit on the finish. Very well done.’
4.0 Bottle. Pours a deep red color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity sour funky raspberry aroma. Fruity sour tart woody raspberry flavor. Has a fruity sour tart raspberry finish.
4.4 Bottle, bought @Mikkeller Webshop. Pours fat, almost bloody red with a light pink head. Aroma has tartness aplenty, very subdued vinegar, light lactic, stunning fresh tart raspberry, light Vanilla and some sweet malts in the back. Medium carbonation, fine creaminess and elegantly dry mouthfeel. Flavour is equally elegant, lots of fresh raspberry on top of a multi-layered sweet, softly caramelly malts backbone, Again some Vanilla. Probably the best American sour I’ve had so far.
3.9 Bottle from a nice swede at Himmeriget, Zwanze day. Pours a clearish brown with a tiny off-white head. Sour with light sweetness. Aromas of citrus fruits, balsamic vinegar and some sour dough. Quite fruity towards the end. Medium bodied. Soft carbonation. Dry and tart finish.
3.2 Bottle at Himmeriget. Hazy chestnut brown with a medium sized tan head. Dark wood, raspberries, lemony sourness, twigs, earthy. Light dark dried fruits. Long sour finish. Too sour for my preference.
4.7 My Bottom Line: Deep raspberry juices grace lactic acidity, leathery undertones and wooden depths in this perfectly cohesive and highly seductive Barrel-Aged Fruit Beer. Further Personal Perceptions: -A pink sheet of foam tops the glistening blood red. -Raspberry and lactic acidity quickly become one in the flavour profile. -Flavor intensity is, as usual for Crooked Stave, high enough to create interest with every sip and smooth enough to encourage drinkability and more delicate food pairings. -Body is softly effervescent and velvety. -All components are perfectly balanced. This is an impressive blend. Bottle.
