4.3 Rating #3000. Bottle shared with ebone1988 for the Koleminer20 turns 3k and Ebone1988 turns 1.6k Bonanza. 22 oz bottle. The pour is a nice black color with a thin ring of medium khaki head and no lace to be found. It’s typical Cycle thin. But it’s great. The aroma is fantastic. There is a beautiful heavy rum, without the alcohol. The barrel is great and the sweet dark fruits just balance wonderfully. The malt has a nice chocolate on the back end that is just lovely. The flavor is great. The bright dark fruits and rum balance the chocolate malts and a hint of charred oak. The balance is amazing. Fruity, chocolatey, nice rum balance, a hint of vanilla... this is spectacular. The mouth feel is the typical Cycle thinness with a great soft carbonation and a lingeringly sweet chocolate, fruity rum on the back with a hint of great char. Fuck me this is good.
4.3 #1600. Bottle shared with koleminer20 for the Koleminer20 Turns 3K and Ebone1988 turns 1.6K Bonanza. Aroma is wonderful, rum, barrel, dark fruit, milk chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, licorice, sweet with no detection of booze. Appearance is black, brown head, poured a typical Cycle thin. Taste is magnificent. Dark fruit, chocolate, coffee, barrel, rum, slightest smoke, fantastic. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy body, light carbonation, ridiculously decadent chocolate fruit rum barrel aftertaste. Overall, this beer is ridiculous.

4.1 22oz from the rotter. Nose is huge barrel character. Soft vanilla and marshmallow. Modest wood tannins and barrel char. Some alcohol on the nose. Soft chocolate and fudge. Alcohol very noticeable as it warms. Black. Small light khaki head. Taste is initially a cocoa and rum cake marriage. Light vanilla with very fruity esters coming through mid palate. Soft dried fruit but not vinous, in a good way. Tatse is very vanilla forward. Modest alcohol warming but never hot. This is why I like barrel aged stouts. Good stuff. The rum really softens the stout character while keeping the chockateband mellowing the harsher flavors.
4.4 Shared at the Hoppy Pub at the courtesy of Rouhlas, thanks Nick ! Pours dark, almost black with a brown head. Aroma of Roasted malts, rum, coffee and some dark fruits. Amazing taste with rum, coffee, bitter chocolate, some fruit. Licorice. Silky mouthfeel and so enjoyable long aftertaste...What a great beer !
4.2 Bottle. Pours a pitch black, headless beer with a great aroma of rum and molasses, dark chocolate. Flavor starts off with a big chocolate base, sweet molasses but finishes with a big rum character,, spicy sweet and a bit of weirdness. Have a feeling that the rum unbalances the beer a little bit, but still the scale is tipping to the awesomeness. Quite flat in the mouthfeel, finishes long and sticky sweet.
4.1 On-tap at Peg’s. Originally reviewed March 9, 2012. Quite black with a nice dark khaki/mocha head. Sticky without much retention. Nose has strong barrel notes of vanilla and oak. Rum is secondary, which is good because I don’t love the rum aroma. Good chocolate behind everything. Really smells quite wonderful. Rum is definitely more prominent in the taste. Sweet rum flavor with less barrel. Some vanilla and oak, but mostly rum. Chocolate and some bitterness. Good finish from the stout, but the rum lingers for a bit too long making it seem hot. Tingly alcohol without being too boozy. Low carbonation. The lingering rum flavor is a bit unpleasant, though. I don’t think this is anywhere near as good as Rare DOS, but I’m in the minority. I find that the rum detracts more than it adds.
4.5 Bottle @ It’s raining cats and whales tasting: Served in a taster: Black beer. Brown head. Nose of wood, taninne, roast, vanilla, rum... Flavours of roast, earthy tints, wood, some chocolate, light rum, light vanilla... Aftertaste is bitter, roasty, wood and chocolate... Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, medium to full bodied. Delicious!
4.3 Zwart bier met een goede bruine schuim kraag. Ruikt rum, alcohol, geroosterd, vanille. Smaakt vanille, alcohol burn, geroosterd, koffie, chocolade.
4.2 650 ml bottle shared with friends at the Hoppy Pub, Thessaloniki. Black color with small beige brown head. Malty aroma, light roasted, rum, wood, dark dried fruits, chocolate, licorice, vanilla. Sweet and light bitter like aroma with some coffee addition. Full silky body with soft carbonation.
4.6 bottle shared by and with a friend. together with rare dos. poured a dark pitch black colour with a nice tanned head on top. nose is clear rum notice, dark roasted malts, sticky dark chocolate, oak, coconut. lot’s of rum when this warms up. taste if way fuller bodied compared to the rare dos, sticky toffee, i love rum barrel aged stouts. and this is really well balanced. mouthfeel is one of the thicker stouts from cycle. this one is on a tie together with the tuesday as my favourite cycle stout! lovely
4.7 Ok, maybe the best beer I’ve tried so far, not cause it’s better than any other beer but I really like Rum, and the wedding of Imperial Stouts and Rum in this one is amazing!!!!! 650 ml bottle shared at a RB tasting session in Chania, Crete. Pours a pitch black color with a thin brown head. Aroma is super intense, with chocolate, rum, vanilla, caramel, and oak. Taste is sweet but not cloying, with chocolate, rum, vanilla, caramel, biscuit, freshly baked bread, some plums on the back, GOD this is amazing!!! The aftertaste is just long till you have another sip!!! Medium to full body with low to medium carbonation.
4.1 Shared bottle at Crete RB tasting at Antons place. Pours black with a small creamy tanned head. Strong aroma, roasted malts, dark fruits, coffee and rum. Taste is the same, complex dark roasted malts, some nice herbal notes and lovely smooth liquorice, minty long hoppy finish. Lovely complex IS.
3.9 Bottle thanks to Justin a trade a while back. Pour is rick black with a thin ring of tan foam. Also many slowly rising small bubbles. Aroma is rich and boozy with loads of rich chocolate malt, vanilla, tobacco, licorice, and liquor. Flavor is rich and sweet with liquor notes coming through strong. Not much alcohol burn, but the rum is apparent. Vanilla, chocolate, rum. The palate is a little thin but this is really nice stuff.
4.5 75cl bottle @Dangerous Bottleshares 7.0 thanks to Baron! Pours a pitch black with a medium sized, brown head. Nose is sweet with plums, rum, figs, prunes, tobacco, cinnamon, chocolate and some roasty malts.Taste is very sweet with caramel, vanilla, prunes and "brunsviger". Cinnamon, roasty sweet malts, slight licorice, some cigar. Really really nice! Fat, full body and average carbonation.
4.5 Bottle @ Dangerous Bottle Share 7.0. Thanks for sharing guys! Pitch black pour with a small tan head. Nose has loads of rhum notes, raisins, molasses and some spices. Taste is rhum forwarded, spices, vanilla, molasses, dark dried fruits, savory notes, chocolate. So smooth and easy drinkable, ABV is well hidden.
4.5 Bottle shared @ the ever awesome dangerous bottleshare #7 . Pours black with a brown head. Oh yeah! Aroma on this is just insanely good. Chocolate, vanilla, dark sweet fruits, very slight roast, fudge and a nice rum character. Woah! The taste is sweet and barrel infused with notes of vanilla, dark sweet fruits, chocolate, sweet rum, brown sugar, dark chocolate brownie, sweet licuorice and slightly roasted. The alcohol is present but blends in very well with the rum. This is simply amazing! Just straight up awesome!
4.5 Shared at Dangerous Bottleshare #7. Pours pitch black with a thick mocca head. Aromas of sweet barrel notes, fudge, coffee, dark chocolate, light cinnamon, vanilla plums, light tobacco, dark fruits, salmiak licorice, malts. Taste is fudgy, vanilla, light cinnamon, pepper, salmiak licorice, sweet licorice, pretty strong roast, plums, coffee, dark chocolate, dry woody notes. This is crazy good! Holy shit, in need of more Cycle stuff - now, please.
4.0 Growler: Thanks, Mike. Thick, viscous looking pour. Completely black with no head, nada. Barely even a tan ring around the glass. Huge rum character on the nose without being overbearing. Boozy & semi-tropical rum cake, molten chocolate, toasted graham cracker, molasses, vanilla, plums & figs, & some burnt brown sugar with a robust alcohol warmth. Flavor has lots of the dark fruitiness up front; raisins, plums, figs, black cherry, all with a heavy, dense sweetness like they were coated in rum then rolled in brown sugar. Chocolate, caramel, rum, vanilla, & heavy molasses towards the finish. Big, boozy presence without being hot or abrasive. Heavy bodied, slightly chewy mouth feel with a moderate oiliness. This stuff is great.
4.3 bottle at home. Pours like real thick black, viscous, steady dark beige head. One of the most roasted aromas out there, also dark dark chocolate like 99% cacao with a tad fruitiness from the whisky barrels. Huge body, thick oily and sweet, some green parpica bitterness in the mid, smooth silky finish. Taste is freshly grinded heavy roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate. Beautiful, lives up to the stories told... and balanced!
3.8 hhad a couple of times . . overall; this beer is quite rich but its mouth feel seems to vary .. . rum, cookies, earth, and barrel .. . black .. medium foam .. . seems like it was bettter when it first had it .. . . i like a lot of meat on my sandwiches- sounds dirty but its the truth.
4.3 My Bottom Line: This luxurious Imperial Stout seduces with its harmonious mélange of brown rum, milk chocolate, roasted cereals, molasses, fruit jam and resinous hop bitterness, all thriving in a rich, almost viscous body. Further Personal Perceptions: -A creamy slice of foam garnishes the darkness. -Mild vanilla also suffuses the generous residual sugars. -The barrel flavours are superbly integrated. -Alcohol warmth and wood rise slowly in the finish. -If you feel like having dessert, this is an exquisite one. -For all the overrated Imperial Stouts on this site, this one actually deserves the hype. Bravo! On tap three different times at the brewery taproom. Lucky me!
4.4 At the brewery in St Pete, pours a deep intense black pour with a beautiful coffee Java head. Nose is through and through whiskey, with vanilla and dark fruits, with strong cherries. Taste is chocolate and dark fruit malt, heavy and velvety and laced with strong rum. Finishes on the same dark fruit rum notes. Exquisite !!! Quaff Score 9 / 10
4.2 On tap at Cycle Brewing. Pours pitch black with a brown head and very nice aroma of rum, vanilla, and chocolate. Taste is strong, nice strong run notes with dark fruits, vanilla, chocolate, and alcohol into the warming finish. Complex and delicious brew
4.6 Bottle shared with Deanso. Pours near black with a thick, short lived, brown head. Massive aroma as soon as the bottle was popped of dark chocolate, boozy rum and oak barrel, fudge, molasses, light licorice notes, forest leaves and deal fruity, almost slight vinous notes. Flavour is heavy sweet and bitter. Warming in the mouthfeel with a medium oily texture. Full bodied with a strange pleasant moderate prickly carbonation. First tick of 2015! :-)
4.1 Bomber courtesy of and shared with Kermis. Big thanks. Rum aroma. Small tan head. Clear black pour. Rum in the aftertaste. Very well brewed. An excellent imperial stout.
3.3 Bottle. Pour is deep brown with some slight red tints and a small khaki colored head. Aroma and flavor of dark rum, moderate fruit, apple cider, roasted coffee, light chocolate, and lemon juice. A bit strange, tastes like a barley wine mixed with a dry stout.
4.1 22 ounce shared bottle. Pours almost black with a small tan head. Aroma of chocolate, rum, and vanilla. Taste is dark chocolate, rum, vanilla, roasted malt, dark fruit, and barrel. World class!
