3.3 *Can in Penang, Malaysia. Thick and viscous beginning. Chocolate, roasted malts. caramelly sugars. Depth with still easy to drink. Hints of sourness, roast. A bit sweetish-sticky in the aftertaste, moderate bitterness. Not too bad. But for me too much alcohol in the heat.
2.8 Can. Clear, very dark brown. Fluffy beige head. Roasted aroma, notes of chocolate. Flavour has coffee and bitter chocolate plus sweetish roasted malt. Finishes dry with coffee and light sourish notes. Drinkable.
3.2 330ml bottle: Appearance: Dark brown with a persistent tan head. Aroma: Stone fruit, coffee, slight caramel and slight breadiness. Taste: Roasty, coffee, stone fruit. A hint of caramel, bitterness is medium to high, possibly due to the dark malts. Definite alcohol warmth. Mouthfeel: Greasy with medium carbonation. Medium body, finishes dry. Overall: Lots going on with this stout, in a good way. Enjoyed it thoroughly.
1.4 (2) Not worth trying. One of the better beers to choose from in Malaysia. But absolutely worth nothing in Europe.
2.7 7.5 malay ringits... Don’t think it tastes quite right but that could be the fact I’m simultaneously puffing on a clove cigarette. So hip right now. Smells like a sweet stout but a lil too sweet almost like a mass produced American lager. It’s growing on me for some subtle tobacco flavors. Oh wait... Dam...8%!!? I guess I can taste that too.

3.1 Bottle at St Berlades in Penang. Dry roasted malt, toasted cereal/grains, little bit of dark fruit and ashy/dusty burnt bitterness. Palate is medium, slick, but a bit flat. Better than I thought it would be.
3.8 Can thanks to Jeremy. Pours a dark brown black color with a medium beige head. A nice roast and metal nose. The flavor is big metal, chocolate, heavy roast. Almost sour roast and fruit. Solid.
3.3 Bottle at Penang Hill. Tart bitter roasted malt. Decent palate. Boozy finish. Better than expected.
3.2 323ml can into glass. Slight coffee/chocolate nose. Impenetrable black beer with sudsy tan head. Strong coffee bitter taste. Finish is a little sour but still strong coffee. Easy drinking for 8%! Becomes more fruity/chocolate as it warms. Tasty.

3.9 Can from John Green - thanks John! Really nice beer. I love Foreign Stouts. Inky, oily mix. Bouncing with hunks of hop mound and chilled, military ash. Booze warming. Pleasing.
3.4 Can. Black with brown head. Aroma is roasty, malty. Taste is slightly sour, very roasty, malty and slightly hoppy.
3.2 My thanks to Cantabrian for tucking this into his luggage for me. You’re a champ, pure and simple. The first remark is that when I opened the can it gave off a hiss and a cloud of aroma that smells of vegemite. This is usually a sign that the beer has spent too long on its lees, but with a beer this dark and with a heady abv of 8%, I suspect this is more to do with an unblemished flavour profile. Again that vegemite aroma is quite keen along with a dose of alcoholic freshness that stung the inside of my nose. Then there’s molasses and engine oil. I’m at pains to point out that these aromas aren’t unpleasant, just remarkable. A taste dwells on that molasses that carries a keen sharpness to it and then that mineral oil on a silky body. There’s also a fizzy mouthfeel that keeps things alive on the palate. It becomes a little atringent in the finish but it’s pleasant enough drinking.
3.1 7/XI/14 - 33cl can @ home - BB: 4/IV/15 (2014-1295) Thanks to M&M for the can! Dark brown to black beer, big fizzy aery beige to brown head, pretty stable, adhesive. Aroma: very malty, grains, caramel, mocha, roast, some dried fruits. MF: ok carbon, medium body, smooth texture. Taste: sourish, salty touch almost, bit malty, spicy, little roasted. Aftertaste: some red currants, coffee, pretty hoppy bitterness. Decent stuff. Not fantastic though.
3.1 Bottle sample at a tasting at tderoeck’s place. Thanks tderoeck. Black with tan head. Sweet and sugary aroma, a little ink and cooked vegetables too. Sweet, slightly roasty, slightly bitter and slightly smoky taste. Full body, soft texture, a little smoky/ phenolic finish.

3.5 Zwart bier zonder schuim. Blik 50cc. Smaak is bitter, rook en sterk. Blijft lang hangen. Verrasend goed en smaakvol bier
3.9 Smell of tar, roasted malt. Dark brown colour, very high dark brown head. Aroma of tar, coffee, cocoa, roasted malt. Sweet with some bitterness. Flat carbon, somewhat oily texture, velvety.
2.8 Bottle from a supermarket in Singapore. Black, with a long-lasting brown-beige head. Aroma of caramel, quite potent, overwhelming any dark chocolates that could still survive. Flavours of Karamalz and malt vinegar, medium to thin bodied, definitely not on the same league as the ABC Stout. It says on the label "Under the supervision of Carlsberg Denmark". Why don’t they get the guy who makes the Carls Porter to do the supervision?
3.2 Can split at Leightons, thanks to the Scopester for this country tick, 02/09/14. Black with a thick dirty tan head of frothy bubbles that retains well. Nose is sweet toffee, raisens, dark fruit rinds, malty, rye bread. Taste comprises brown bread, soy sauce, dark toffee, spice, dark malts, light roast. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with roasted tones. Ok stout.

Medium sweet with rich bread, brownies, lots of dried dark fruits, light tangy leathery berries, gooey chocolate. Medium to full bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Sweet finish with more lightly tangy, leathery fruits, char, cocoa. Very nice.
2.6 Can. Pours dark brown with beige head. Aroma is sweet - malts and little coffee. Taste is watery, malty with slight coffee notes. Not as bad as I suspected, but still nothing worth trying.
2.6 Can. Pours dark brown with beige head. In aroma very sweet - dark malts, a little of roastiness. In taste also quite sweet, some coffee plus acidity on the end, no roastiness. Medium bodied, medium carbonated, low soft bitterness. Nothing to remember.
