Dark Horse Amber Ale

Dark Horse Amber Ale

100% malted barley gives this classic ale a mild biscuit, toasted malt taste. This is a medium bodied beer with perfect balance of malt flavors. The color is a brilliant amber, while the aroma is slightly fruity and malty.

1.9 Drank from bottle. Malty flavor mixed with metallic zing. Not pleasant mouthfeel. Would not drink it again
1.8 Bottle: Cloudy amber body with a thin webbed off-white layer of foam on top. Aroma of toasted cereal grains, metal, stale caramel, very light florals, & a touch of orange zest. Flavor has a strong stale caramel malt sweetness with notes of overly toasted bread, earth, milled grains, & a strange bitterness that lies somewhere between floral & metallic. Light hopping. Not a very good beer.
2.7 Eh. A bit bitter on the taste. Wish there was a bit pother finish on this one. Would drink again but not buy
4.7 Want a nice clean session beer! This one is the answer! Not what u would think to be an amber ale.
2.9 Medium brown with small head. Fruity aroma almost like a Belgian. A little like medicine.
3.5 Bottle. Pours an amber color with an off-white head. Moderate toasted and breadiness in the aroma and taste. A run-of-the-mill, but still good, amber.
2.3 12oz bottle I picked up at Total Wine McLean pours a murky, copper amber with a ring of white head that faded fast. Nose has a lot of malt, sticky caramel, some toast, a little biscuit, a little bit of raisin, some mild orange too. Flavor is a bit surprising because it hits with a fair amount of candy sugar and Belgian-esque yeast character, some bubblegum, a little anise, caramel, ripe banana, some root veg. Spritzy finish. Old bottle? Bad bottle? Just didn’t seem right.
2.6 pours hazy if not cloudy medium dark golden orange with a small light beige orange, little retention and lacing. spicy and fruity belgian yeast (!), almost off-rotten-fruits, peppery sweetish caramel and candied nuts, toasted specialy malts, some sweetness - brown sugar, metal, slightly ashy too. low carbonation, light body - oily, semi-sweet and spicy-metallic finish. average american belgian amber at best.
4.3 really liked this beer a mild bitter taste with hints of a toasted malt to it nice fruity hoppy taste that will leave you wanting more
2.7 This beer was a very typical amber ale. Not much too it. The pour had a good color with a foamy head. Caramel and sugar in the nose and flavor.
2.6 12oz bottle to dark horse shaker. Malty biscuity flavor. Strange peppery finish from the yeast I assume.
2.9 12 oz bottle at home. Pours a clear amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have toasted bread, caramel, some mild earthy and citrus hops, some sweetness. This is not a style that really excites me, but this is not as good as most of their beers.
3.9 Bona cervesa, en gust té molts tons a galeta i caramel. Buena cerveza, en sabor tiene muchos tonos a galleta y caramelo.
3.3 On tap at Global Brew. Pours a slightly hazy orange/amber with a decent but fairly thin head. Mild spice aroma. Taste is sweet caramel malt, spicy vegetal hop bitterness with even a bit of olive oil. Different, pretty good.
3.5 Bottled a decent while ago -- October 22nd 2013. Poured January 21st 2014. Poured into a shaker pint. Appearance: Pours a hazy as hell orange/brown sort of color. Only a bit of light gets through. Two finger head or so goes away after a few minutes, with only a bit of wispy foam on top after that. No lacing that I can see. Great color, but that’s it. Smell: Smells like a Wit or something. Has that banana and spice sort of aroma that a Wit or Hefe would offer. Slightly sour. Quite Belgian. Not what I was expecting. Doesn’t smell bad, but it’s strange coming from an Amber. Taste/feel: The banana and spice flavor is definitely there in the flavor as well. It drinks like a darker sort of Wit or Hefe. Fairly mild beer overall. Nice body on it with a good amount of carbonation as well. Drinkable. Not at all bitter. Slight tang on the finish from the yeast. Decent brew, but I can see why people would be disappointed in it, going in and expecting a beer that doesn’t taste like, well, spiced bananas. I actually enjoy this beer. I’m not a huge fan of Wits or Hefes, so those flavors blended with some "darker" flavors is nice. Interesting for the style. Good, not great.
3.1 bottle. Amber with small head. Substantial malt base with a lot of caramel malt. Light hops. Slightly aboverage for the style.
3.0 Cloudy orange pour. Very sweet. Apricot and earthy basement aroma. Fruity boring taste with not much I like about it. Had this on draft at Pour House.
3.0 Bottle. Pours a hazy amber orange colour with a thin head, biscuit aroma with some fruit, the taste is light sweetness, with malt with a dry finish.
2.7 35 cl bottle @ home. Pours amber with a little sediment and a white head that leaves almost no lacing. Aroma and flavour are caramel, flowers, and yeast - with a slightly bitter finish.
3.0 Hazy amber color, fast disappearing small beige head / Aroma is malty, raisin, caramel, hints of yeast (spicy) / Flavor is caramel, malt and hints of raisin / light body, fizzy carbonation, light-medium bitterness, dry, medium caramel finish / Simple amber beer, not bad but nothing special
2.8 On tap at Dan’s. The pour is mostly a coppery-gold. There is no head to speak of, and alas, no lace either. The aroma is really bready, with lots of yeast and a malt that almost adds a surprising sweetness to it that wasn’t anticipated. The flavor has a big time sweetness from the malty part of it, but there isn’t a whole lot else going on with the flavors. The mouth feel is really, really watery, and the aftertaste doesn’t linger hardly at all, which is a good thing as I’m not a fan
3.4 Mild persimmon nose. Hazy copper, medium head with little staying power.Stewed apples, apple core finish. Medium body, alcohol not evident. Tasty and sessionable. Has a Belgian spice feel.
4.1 On tap at links taproom. Light sweet malt aroma. Very well balanced and harmonious beer. Good sweet Belgian hop balance with crisp slightly hoppy finish. Quite good.
2.8 Botella de 33 cl en el lupulo. 08-01-14. Color ambar anaranjado bastante turbio, espuma blanca muy poco persistente. Aromas afrutados con bastante carbonico, recuerda a sidra achampañada. Cuerpo ligero muy fácil de beber. Sabores afrutados manzana (melocoton, mango, piña...) y cereal, bastante gas y poco poco amargor. Bastante peculiar y ligera, para repetir.
3.4 Draft and bottle - pours a hazy amber . Big Belgian yeast aromas . Taste of toasted malt with some candied sugar . Unique amber ... Good .
3.1 Pounder can. Poured a clear yellow color with a small white head. Aroma was light malts, some sweetness. Flavor is light, thin malts, earthy hops. Drinkable.
2.6 Købt salling Aahus. 20 kr Duft: citrus, kikse duft, lys malt sødme, græs duft, Smag:sødlig, honing, blomster, koriander
2.4 33cl bottle@Lúpulo Feroz, Oviedo.Caramel, spicy, some off aromas. Pours hazy amber, little vanishing off white head, poor lacing. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Taste is caramel, some cooked vegetable, weird flavours.
3.6 Pours a amber brown. Aroma of banana and grass. Tastes balanced and has a medium body and medium carbonation.
2.9 355 ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours hazy amber with a thin white head. Metallic aromas, rust and iron. Something lactic. Taste is malty, with a good caramel sweetness. Getting a nice fruity hop bitterness at the end, but the aroma is all wrong.
