3.2 Bottle 35,5 cl. Pours a hazy amber with a lazing, off-white. Sweet, fruity and perfumy hops, combined with caramel. Rich, malty sweet body, plenty of caramel, very bitter finish. Not the most sophisticated IPA, but it works. 290216
3.4 Copper with tons of floaties. Nose of light pine, fruit, and caramel. Flavor is dry bitter pine with a hint of tropical fruit. Caramel backbone. Slightly astringent in the finish. Never been a fan of Falconer’s Flight.
4.5 Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. Cloudy yellow-amber coloured with strong, rich orange marmalade, pine and juicy fruit citrus flavours followed by a malty, toffee and more orange on the finish. Amazing!
3.6 Bottle. Pours mostly clear pale amber with a medium white head. The aroma is biscuit malty with citrusy hoppy notes. Some floral notes. The flavor is quite malty with biscuit and citric hoppy and floral notes. Nice balanced easy going IPA.
3.3 Bottle pour copper dark gold with fine sediment and thin white head. Nose metallic, dank, slight cat and slight tropical fruit. Taste moderate bitter bite up front, dank, some light floral but mostly dank metallic in taste as well. Light bitter finish.
3.2 355 ml bottle @ Timo A. Bottled on 27.05.2015. Pours golden color with a small head. Apricot aroma, pine, resin and mild hops. Flavor is sweet with pale malts and resinous hops, orange, apricot, faint herbs on the background. A bit weird ..and old. Sadly too old. 3213
3.5 Pour is a cloudy amber with a short-lived off-white head. Aroma- peach skins, pine, caramel malt. Mouthfeel is medium. Tastes of pine, orange, peach, golden grahams, honey, and bready malt. Finishes gently bitter and a bit sweet. Tasty old-school IPA.
3.5 Bottled - Cloudy orange colour, medium white head, good retention, lacing. Floral ad citrussy hop aromas, some lemon zest, freshly cut grass. Taste is sweet first with cereals, some caramel, then fruity hop bitterness comes, grapefruit, orange, some maracuja. Medium body, average carbonation, pleasant hoppy finish. Nice IPA, decent hoppiness.
3.1 Tap@Taphouse, Copenhagen - golden pour with white head and lacing. fruity and light malty aroma and taste, some citrus fruity notes, light peachy, floral hoppy nuances throughout, bitter finish. Not bad.
3.2 Draft. A hazy golden beer with a yellowish head. The aroma has notes of hops, malt, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of over ripe fruits, hops, malt, and straw, leading to a bitter finish.
1.8 On tap at Delirium Hoppy Loft. Aroma: rancid, vinaigrette like, overcooked broccoli, rotting fruit. Very strange. Taste: pleasant hop character for a fraction of a second, then becomes sour and vinagary. Finish: bitter and leaves the tongue hurting and numb from the aggressive sourness. Conclusion: complete mismatch with other tasting notes. Bad keg? Why are they serving this?
3.2 From tap. Hazy orange with a white head. Aroma of oranges, bread, bit of citrus. Taste is lots of resin, grapes, grass, stale hops. This seems to be a bit too old.
3.2 Sample at c4. Pours hazy orange with a dense white head. Aroma hops, light bready, sweet, stale hops. Taste is quite malty, with a old hop charater. Quite bitter, with a lught dry finish. Borring hop, a tad old, light grape. Carbonation is soft body is full.
3.1 murky orange amber with a medium but fleeting beige head. aroma is light floral citrus. thick oily mouth feel. fairly bitter throughout. long bitter but warming finish. doesn’t really have that initial brightness that I like in an IPA. I guess this isn’t the hop variety for me. not a bad beer though.
3.7 Bottle. Hazy dark caramel color, frothy tan head. Slightly hoppy nose, mild. Taste is quite smooth, not that bitter, with a clear hoppy note. Medium body, soft carbonation.
3.8 Draught @ Fermentoren, Aarhus. Pours hazy golden with a white head, some lacing. Aroma of malt, light caramel, fresh fruity hops, peach, citrus, orangepeel. Flavor is malt, little caramel, fresh fruity hops, peach, orangepeel, grapefruit. Medium body, average carbonation, dry and light bittter finish. 011015
3.5 Malty IPA with almost a medicinal/ herbal hop with a piney finish. A bit sweet from the malt but overall balanced. Ends up with a dry finish. Not a huge fan of the medicinal hop profile but a well made IPA overall.
3.4 Pours copper with cream head. Aromas of pineapple, citrus, pine, malty backbone, caramel and toffee. Taste is malt, citrus, bitter bite upfront, fades to a much more mellow spruce with some caramel. Decent. Not as good as
3.6 From tap at Fermentoren. Jazy amber colour with an off-white head. Aroma and flavour of hops, fruit, malt, caramel and bitterness.
3.1 Another single hop Crooked Tree experiment by Dark Horse. Pours dark orange, with average creamy diminishing off-white head. Fair lacing. Totally chunky, medium to full body, with bitter aftertaste. Average malts, cookie and caramel. Heavy hops, mostly pine and citrus. Moderately bitter. Can’t say I liked it as much as I expected.
3.0 12oz bottle from TRT. Poured a murky deep orange with tons of floaties and an average sized frotht off white head. Aroma/flavor of herbs, medicine, band aids, earth, rotting fruit. Flavor has the added joy of a slight medicinal note. This is just not good.
2.2 Bottle from CBC Newton, drunk 8/30/15. Chunky, drab olive-copper with a beige head that is medium-sized and quickly dissipating. Fruity (apples, cherries, oranges) hop notes in the nose give way to lightly dirty (yeast?) notes, with light caramel and brown bread maltiness. There’s some light pine, typical orange rind/grapefruit character and not much, if any brightness. I don’t know if this bottle is just old? I would expect Craft Beer Cellar to keep fresh bottles on hand, but I guess you never know....Lemon-lime citrus with a hard, crystal malt-like texture, scratchy brown bread graininess and loose/low carbonation. Tons of dirtiness/dullness and not a whole lot to get excited about here. Maybe some diacetyl as well? Again, it’s hard to feel too bad for breweries that don’t date their hoppy beers.
3.6 More bottles from Chris N’s Michigan beer tour...THANKS! Pours a foggy orange with thicker persistent head. Nose and inital taste is a bitter but enjoyable hoppy touch. Nice aftertaste...wish I had more!
3.1 Draft to taster. Looks solid; malty though. A very hazy pale burnt orange with off-white head. Smells of caramel with notes of bitter and piney hops in the background. Tastes like it smells, but more bitter than piney, with a medium-bodied mouthfeel. Not bad, but underwhelming.
3.2 Pours a light amber with inch head, good lace. Aroma is herbal and almost medicinal, candy toffee malt. Beef jerky soy sauce old hop/poor storage. Bottle conditioned yeast floaties.Powdery resin. Taste has some bite to it, carbonic, citric. Peppery herbal hop character. Resiony finish. Dry toffee mild sweetness. Some citrus but mainly herbal peppery, kind of medicinal though, with beef jerky soy sauce-- vegetable dms?. Drank this slightly cool, I will have to try this again, Ill have to leave the yeast next time.
3.7 Cloudy dark orange to dark amber pour with a two finger, creamy white head. Aroma is sweet citrus, fruity floral, caramel, light toffee, doughy bread, biscuit, melon and sweet floral. Flavor is citrus, sharp doughy bread, toasty grain, melon, light passion fruit, light toasted bread, fruity-citrusy floral and light woody pine. Medium body, dry entry; medium, very sharp carbonation, dry, slightly syrupy finish with a substantial hop acid bite. Good stuff overall, quite sharp in the AA department.
3.5 This is the second of these single hop Crooked Trees I’ve had and neither has been as good as just Crooked Tree. This is a very cloudy and dark orange brew with just a few whisps of foamy head. The Falconer’s Flight hop seems very mild in the nose but the full body of this beer and a touch of sweetness lend it a nice juicy orange character once tasted. This is a solid IPA, nothing overwhelming. I like this better than the Apollo one because the sweetness here comes of as more pleasant rather than heavy.
3.6 12 oz. bottle from notes. Pours a hazy amber color with white floaties throughout. The medium off white head was mostly lasting and left a coating on the glass. The aroma was caramel, orange citrus, herbal and light floral hops. The flavor has moderate bitterness, orange citrus, mild floral notes, moderate spicy hops, caramel . Medium to medium-full bodied that goes down smoothly. I get the floaties in many of their Crooked Tree IPAs.
3.3 Bottle. Pours a hazy, dark orange-amber, flecks of yeast in suspension; off-white head. Aromas of tropical fruit, caramel malt, some alcohol. Tastes similar. Tastes similar with a heavier malt flavor than I would prefer. Moderately bitter. Medium bodied, average carbonation, bitter finish.
3.6 29.05.2015, tap @ Crowbar: Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly dry grassy, weeds, wet grass, citrus peel, unripe berries, sap, fresh wood, hay, hops. Taste is slightly dry grassy, weeds, leafs, bark, wet grass, sap, fresh wood, light malts, hops. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Nice.
