Dark Horse Raspberry Ale

Dark Horse Raspberry Ale

A light ale made with 100% real raspberries in every batch. The rasberries give this beer a fruity aroma while keeping the beer balanced in taste. The raspberry flavor is not "oversweet" or "overpowering". We believe our beers should be "beer 1st,fruit 2nd".

3.2 Nice reddish color that reminds one of raspberries, slightly hazy. Thin white head with weak lacing. Nice flavor with some hint of malt. Slightly sweet, cloying aftertaste
3.0 Mild nose berries. Pale head. Hazy pale brown color. Slightly sour taste of berries malt and hops. Raspberry too.
3.0 Light rosy amber with a pale head. Aroma is raspberry, berries, rhubarb, berry candy. Light bodied, sweet on the palate with a fake fruit character. Taste is raspberry candy soaked in beer.
2.7 Pours a light amber to red color. Head dissipates quickly. Minimal raspberry aroma with sweet malt. Not as much raspberry I was hoping for given the name, but I guess that is what they were going for. This is a refreshing and easy to drink beer.
1.3 This is honestly awful. Tastes like cough syrup. Is basically the same price as founders rubeaus. Buy that instead.
3.4 Bottle at St Cece’s Detroit. Slight hazy pinkish orange golden. Cooked raspberries, light green leaves, caramel and dough. Some bitter herbs and grass with light bread. Medium sweet and very light sour and bitter. Medium bodied.
3.2 Pours light amber, slightly cloudy, slightly red; modest, brief head. Faintly floral, fruity nose, with hint must. Taste very floral/herbal - raspberry. Light, sweet/sour. If you want BEER (capital B) this may not be the one. But as a light quencher, quite nice. Like a Berliner or a vin xu cassis substitute for brunch.
3.3 HAve enjoyed raspberry/fruit aless less and less over the years but this one actually keeps a nice balance with malt.
3.1 12 oz bottle pours amber with a white head. Aroma of raspberries, grain and some grass. Taste is malts and raspberries.
3.0 Pours a hazy orange-amber color with aroma of raspberry and wheat. Raspberry flavor with wheat. Raspberry is not too overpowering.
2.8 Pretty typical raspberry ale as per the old guard of craft brewing. It’s sort of a slightly malty amber ale with a good dollop of raspberry flavor. You get some caramel sweetness and a touch of slightly metallic bitterness and that is it for beer. It’s drinkable but very unexceptional.
2.8 Pours a muddy yellow with a white head. Taste is lightly raspberry but heavy on the bitterness. A mix of floral and fruity. Berries come through in the aroma and a slight bit in the finish.
3.2 Bottle. Pours a Monday like brown color very cloudy medium head. Aroma and taste is raspberry and grass hay malt bread hops. Light bodies. Nothing special.
2.8 Not quite as tasty as the aroma would lead you to believe. Drinkable on a hot summer day but forgettable.
3.4 Better than what the ratings on the site reflect. Smooth for a fruity beer, not too sweet or overpowering. I'd drink again.
2.8 BOD 1/5/16. Cloudy mid range amber pour. Below normal head volume, normal retention and normal lacing. Rather light nose of raspberry over a moderately sweet malt base with hints of caramel. Light body with a smooth texture, a bit heavier than water. Slightly below normal carbonation with a hint of effervescence in the middle and a stronger finish. While not bad, the flavor profile really doesn’t deliver much. Mild raspberry flavor, light middle bitterness and only a hint of sweetness. The bitterness has a tart element that is unripe fruit in nature as much as it is hop oriented. The finish is a slow fade of not quite ripe fruit.
2.5 330ml bottle (Alus Celle, Riga). Hazy orange color. Small size, white head, stays. Yeasty, dirty cloth, semi-rotten raspberries in aroma. Sweetish, raspberries, spicy hops, spruce and some rose pepper in taste. Spruce and raspberry in aftertaste. Pleasant fruityness on tongue. Drinkable.
2.3 330ml bottle (Alus Celle, Riga) Sweetish berry aroma, watery too though. Dusty carpet. Mid orange, small tight persistent head. Simple sweetish berries and malts. Dirty minerals. Some hoppy bitterness. Extremely dull and boring fruit beer. Not for me.
2.5 Bottle, 5% (shared by fatphil, thanks). Pours dark golden with whiteish head. The head stays for some moments. Aroma is sweet, raspberries, perfumy Flavor is sweet and bitter, grains, malt, some alcohol, liquid soap. Overall: not good, but gets better as i drink it.
2.5 Bottled. Average. Cloudy appearance with a sweet smell. But if raspberry in taste. Wouldn't have again.
3.5 Really nice for a fruit ale. Very slight raspberry scent with some grassy upfront notes. Color odd dark yellow and overly hazy unfiltered. Mouth is a good ale full but crisp enough to drink a few. Taste has the light raspberry after that makes the name worthy. Upfront it’s a light weak, and has an English water barley dullness. It picks up and finishes nice. Tap
2.5 Rating 5% abv...light and fake raspberry smell... taste is more malty than I anticipated, heavy grain taste...mild hops...almost no raspberry to speak of...very straightforward and one dimentional
3.3 Bottle shared by Wayne. Pours a slight hazy amber. Aroma and taste of mostly just malts and fruit.
3.7 Although this beer is very smooth and easy to enjoy I don't especially appreciate the raspberry flavor that is barely noticeable
3.2 Draft at Sioux Falls fest. Lt pinkish amber color. Light raspberry aroma. Light berry flavor.
2.0 Listed as a sour so a huge disappointment, subdued aroma minimal notes of raspberry. Pours a clear gold color with a lasting white well laced head. Easy to drink but no real taste just a hint of fruit. Light body no finish.
3.7 Normal aroma and normal appearance good taste and great on the palate and overall a good beer
2.3 Opaque copper orange pour with a white head. Aroma isn’t really present. Mild carbonation, no malt presence, and barely a hint of raspberry.
2.9 Wrote down a score ages ago but ni5 any tasting notes. Recording for posterity. Good stuff.
3.1 Pour out of 12 oz bottle, hazy dark yellow orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of slight bread, dough, biscuit into some slight raspberry, spice, touch of vanilla. Taste was a mix of lemon, vanilla, raspberry into a bit of bread, yeast, touch of spice, finishing slightly sweet.
