Dark Star American Pale Ale

Dark Star American Pale Ale

Cask: Regular.
The yeast strain used for the brewing of the pale, dry American Ales is specially imported from the USA, along with Cascade and Centennial hops, to produce this pale ale. The low colour Maris Otter malt provides a perfect light colour and dryness to complement the crisp taste and full aroma of the hops.

3.8 Cheap out of date can from Hartley’s in Goring which has since closed, and Dark Star have sold out. Shame!

3.6 Cask at Harp in London. Great clear copper color with a one-finger white head. Aroma is nice, caramel/biscuit malt and well-balanced citrus/floral/grass hops. Flavor is nicely balanced, maybe a little more English style but still quite good. Good biscuit/caramel balanced by nice medium bitterness. Medium-bodied with a nice cask feel. Good beer.
3.7 Cask at The Evening Star, Brighton. A very decent APA, up there with the long man down the coast. Nice butterscotch flavour.

3.5 330 ml can, as Dark Star APA, from Ales by Mail. ABV is 4.7%. Overcarbonated, slightly gushing can, the glass fills completely by white foam. When the beer appears underneath, it is pale golden. The huge head lasts "forever". Strong and pleasant aroma of fruity and piney American hops. Distinctly hoppy flavour on a moderately sweet base, tropical fruits, grapefruit, pine needles and resin. Bitter finish.
2.9 Draft @ Akkurat. Small white head. Steel, honey, flowers and grass. Too bitter.
3.6 Bottle to snifter @ White House, Luton Lekko zamglony kolor w odcieniu złota i żółci. Bardzo wysoka, puszysta, ubita jak białko piana. Bardzo długo przykleja się do piwa. Pozostawia na szkle mnóstwo znaczków. Krążkowanie wzorowe. Aromat umiarkowanie słodowy, cytrusowy, kwiatowy. Mamy tutaj dojrzałe mango, grejpfrut i morele. Smaczne i wysoce pijalne piwo.
3.6 Can at Clapton Hart. Clear golden colour. Lemon and grapefruit, bitter-sweet and some hop bite. Dry finish. Not bad.
3.8 Sampled from a can from Prohibition Wines. Slightly hazy golden colour with a white head. Fruity aromas and a taste of malt, citrus and mango with undertones of wood and pine resin. A full taste with a lively bitterness. A really good and highly drinkable APA.
