3.8 Cask at Hopinn, Newcastle under Lyme. Pours black brown with tan head. Good espresso hit but not overpowering. Creamy stout backbone. Good stuff.
3.5 Aroma: intense coffee, toasted malts, sweet milk chocolate, coffee. Appearance: black, small creamy frothy, beige head. Taste: light bitter. Palate: toasted malts continue, light coffee, chocolate, soft carbonation, full body. Overall: very nice Stout, well-rounded, nice coffee flavours. Pint at the Evening Star, Brighton.
3.5 Light with full coffee flavour. A good example of the style. Rated by BrewTom
3.9 I love stout and I love coffee so this the perfect combination for me cracking pint from the old gate in hebden bridge around Christmas time enjoyed it so much I had to throw another one down in the 5minutes I had before the taxi arrived cracking pint.
3.4 Pint at the rake. Quite a dark brown pour with cream/light brown head. Aroma is coffee, malts and burnt toast. A lot of coffee in the taste. Bitter coffee beans followed by malts. dry finish.
2.7 20/XI/14 - cask @ CBC Covent Garden (London) - BB: n/a (2014-1355) Clear dark brown beer, small aery beige irregular head, stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: coffee, lots of coffee, bit sweet. 3.7 cask @ Stockbrigde Tap, 12/10/2014, black with tiny light beige head, perfect lacing, dark malts, black coffee, smooth, medium bodied, low carbonation, nice ’coffee’ stout
3.1 Cask at the Hope, Carshalton on 30 August 2014. Pours black with a white head. Aroma of liquorice, chocolate and coffee. Sweet sharp finish. Not as good as before.
3.7 Tap, dark pour, tan head, nose is coffee, taste is coffee, i loved this beer, you can drink a ton b/c the ABV isn’t like the american stouts.
3.7 Actual coffee stout with added coffee beans. Beige head, colour near to black; aroma and flavour dominated by a real, espresso-like coffee character, with subtle accents of peat, caramelly malts, dried fruits and charcoal. My cup of tea.
3.5 Tasted this at the GRAF in the Briggait, Glasgow on 27th June 2014. Cask, gravity dispense. Pours a dull black with an open tan head. Strong aroma of Nescafe granules, long in intensity. Thin oily mouthfeel and poor lacing. Dark malts give a strong black coffee flavour with a hint of chicory and plain chocolate full in the mouth. Very little in the way of hop resins detected in the aftertaste as coffee dominates overall. Finish is malty and dry with liquorice, plain chocolate and barley grain coming through in the palate. An ok session Stout but some might find the coffee element too domineering though.
3.6 Cask at Hand and Heart, Nottingham. Clear, mahogany colour. Bubbly, tan head. Light chocolate. Some tar. Coffee. Taste is dry, and light fruity. Finish is dry, with a light bitterness.
3.0 Cask west riding dewsbury. Mild coffee roasted malt aroma. Taste is same light bitterness. Body bit thin. Not the best.
2.4 Very mild coffee aroma. The name is misleading. Quite flavoursome but not the coffee hit I was expecting. Also quite a clean tasting. Very very dark. Marked it down a bit for the sheer disappointment of it not living up to the name.
3.7 Cask @ Fox & Goose, Hebden Bridge. Black, medium to full-bodied with a thick frothy head. Has a fuller roasted malt aroma with coffees abundant here and in its taste.
4.0 proper coffee aroma, black body frothy head, bitter sweet taste in a thick palate strong bitter cloying finish, very good.
3.6 Cask at Brigantes, York. Near-black pour, thin tan head. Nice coffee aroma, good coffee taste. Clean finish, decent.
3.6 Black with off-white creamy head that sticks nicely to edges leaving good lacing. That’s coffee in aroma all right! Not french roast, more the roast I’m used to here in Finland. Also chocolate. Dry aroma. Lots of medium roast dry coffee in flavor, long dry and medium bitter roasted finish, medium body, chocolate also. Lots and lots of coffee bit covering everything else. Natural coffee aroma and flavor but this is quite minimalistic.
3.7 (Cask at Angleterre, 20140129) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had coffee, toasted malts and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were coffee, pepper, toasted malts and bitterness. Aftertaste had coffee and bitterness. A well done coffee-infused brew.
3.5 Cask @ Salopian Bar. Pours dark with ruby hints, creamy mocha head. Aroma of dark chocolate, bitter roast & coffee. Taste continues, smooth & creamy with good bitter roast, and a big coffee hit.
2.8 Cask, White Lion, Norwich. Black with a lovely coffee aroma. Tasted like a forgotten coffee on a Sunday morning with a hint of vanilla and chopped wood. Expected to see grinds in it. Soft, flat and almost watery. The keg version is far superior.
3.3 Cask @ Southampton Arms, London. Pours very dark brown with a small light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, espresso. Flavor is malts, dry roasted espresso, coffee beans. Thin to medium body, soft carbonation. 180913
3.4 Intense coffee coffee aroma. Black flat appearance. Lovely coffee taste with black coffee bitterness. Worth trying
3.5 Cask @ Slug & Lettuce, Leicester. Dark brown, almost black- surprisingly a bit like espresso. Taste is malty dark chocolate like, with a hint of the coffee taste, not overpowering though. Coffee bitterness to end.
3.3 A light syrupy taste, some pineapple, gingerbread, hops, lots of coffee and toffee. The coffee doesn’t dominate. Nice
3.0 Cask in Hengler’s Circus. Poured dark with little head. Bitter coffee taste, could benefit from a little more sweetness
3.6 Cask by handpump at Bon Accord, Glasgow - clear very dark brown near black, thin tan head, rich coffee aroma, sporadic lacing, roasted coffee flavour, dry, bitter coffee finish
3.8 Cask @ Akkurat. Heavy bitter and roasted coffee notes in aroma aswell as taste. Also some licorice. The creamy light texture smoothens and adds some drinkability. Nice!
