The Public is a delicious easy drinking pale ale made from a simple recipe of quality grain and top notch American hops. Tawny hues of caramel and amber are a trademark of the Public ale as well as a delicious spruce crispness resulting from a beautiful abundance of hops!
Truly an American style ale for the public.

3.0Pours amber yellow, thin eggshell head. Nose is pine, florals, corn, some mint. Crisp feel, a bit chain brewpub ish to me. Some adjuncts floating around in here around the shell of florals. Very okay.
3.112 ounce can at the house. Smell the hops. Golden in color, medium head with film on glass. Hoppy after taste. Heavy hop aftertaste and a little oily. Decent if you like the style. Cheers!
3.8(draft at National airport)
AROMA: moderate nose, decent hops, resin and grain
APPEARANCE: amber , touch unclear, thin yet dirty/clingy head
TASTE: roasted malt, good balance between bittering and dry hops, citrus rind, dark chocolate, dark bread, toast, fair amount of soft resins, hint if cinnamon?
PALATE: bright on the tongue, oily ... Bit numbing and coating, medium body
OVERALL: very good ale, balanced, nice hops, not overbearing but robust enough, nice mix of flavors
3.1Pour from a 12oz can. Amber brew with tan head, good lacing. Aroma of moderate grass, a little resin. Taste is very light malt p front, some quikly emerging grass, finishes with a little more grass and slight resin and spice. Dry at the end. Decent APA.
2.7Pretty standard American Pale Ale here. Hop forward, but not overwhelming, enough of a malt background to balance it out. Generic tasting, nothing really special. I drank it because they weren't serving anything better.
2.5On tap at DC Brau, pours a clear copper with a small white head. Aroma brings out toasted caramel malt and very subdued hops. Flavour reveals intense bitterness upfront, followed by some metallic notes, and sweet bready malt. This isn’t working for me - lacking cohesion, astringently bitter, and lacking the gentle crispness a pale should have. Not a fan.
3.7Caramel, slight sweet, malt base with a balanced hop finish. Citrus and piney hops. Flavorful but still easy drinking pale ale and clean. Going more towards bitter piney hop finish as I drink, but still solid.
3.3On tap at Paladin Bar & Grill. Grainy aromas, herbal, citrusy. Clear bronze with a mostly lasting white head. Pretty dry, pretty balanced between grainy hops and soft herbaceous hops. Light-medium bodied.
3.0Draft at Tonic in DC after the Spring Meetings. Toasty, bicuity malts. Grassy citrusy hops. Average all around.
2.8Grabbed this in Flying Dog at BWI. Pours a slightly hazy dark amber color. Aroma is of malts, hops, grain, wheat, esters, and some lactic. Carbonated palate. Flavor is basically the same as the aroma. This is more of a malt forward pale ale. Leaves a malt finish. Another state knocked off of the list!
3.5On tap at DCA. Light amber with a white head. Perfectly serviceable pale ale. Refreshing, hoppy not too bitter.
3.8A solid pale ale with a good hop presence. Pours a barely opaque golden with a sticky head.
4.0Poured from 12oz can into pint glass. Pours a thin off white head that drops quickly with no lacing. Color is cloudy orange. Aroma of citrus and bread dough. Mouthfeel is light to medium with a damp finish. Flavor is hop dominate with grapefruit and pine along with lightly toasted malt.
3.8Copper with a white head. Straight forward pale. Medium body. Pine, citrus, light spice notes. A good caramel malt backbone. Classic. Tasty.
3.5Poured from can dated 9-26-17 thanks solid funk hazy. copper with a fluffy white head. Aroma of spruce tips caramel malt light fruit. Taste is slightly caramel maltiness earthy floral hops and lingering Pine bitterness.
2.9This was the either the 5th or 6th different DC Brau beer I tried...and will be the last for a while. None really rated higher than average at best for me. There seems to be sediment in most, but in a not so good way. This one leans towards and English Pale Ale to me, with extra malt and sweetness. Little more than slightly off balance. Gets one point higher than their IPA just cause the balance is a little less off for the style.
3.4Backlog from Washington. Aroma of citrus, fruity, floral, grass. Malty backbone. Light sweet and moderate bitter. A descent one...

3.312oz can at Nationals Park. Pours hazy golden orange with a frothy but fading white head. Orange and malt nose. Flavors add orange peel, caramel malt, bread. Smooth mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. Mildly bitter finish.
3.4Caramel and strawberry aroma and flavor with some nutty oxidation notes. Medium body, assertive bitterness, crisp.
3.3Fairly malty, almost feels more like a hoppy amber to me. Not that impressed.
3.6Ruby red dark amber, small head. Earthy hops in nose and taste. Bit tropic hops too. Caramel, spicy bready body. Alcoholic when warmer. Aromatic pale ale not as easy as advertised. Quite different but very enjoyable if you like more malty flavour.
3.6Can; pours amber with a white head; aroma of pine, citrus, malt, and a hint of bread; taste is light bitter with citrus and pine plus some caramel and malty notes; finish lightly bitter with some pine
3.5Draft at the Fillmore Silver Spring. Pours clear bright copper with a thick, creamy beige head. Tastes like toffee, bready malt, vegetable, and grassy hops. Light/medium body and carbonation. Smells like toffee, bready malt, vegetable, and grassy hops.
3.4Enjoyed on tap at Reagan Airport in Washington, DC. Appearance is amber clear with a moderate off white head. Aroma is light caramel malt. Taste is like Fat Tire. Its a decent ale.
3.2On tap at TJ’s. Poured an amber color with a small sized off white head. Citrus, and some fruits.
3.7This is a not so hoppy APA. Great color, malty, with a hint of citrus aroma. Goes down smooth and crisp. If you're looking for hops, you probably won't like this. However, if you want an APA that is more of a drinkable beverage than an event, you'll like this.
2.4Nothing remarkable or memorable. Clean going down. Metallic aftertaste. Not particularly hoppy.
2.2Can: DOB 2/22/16 so 2 weeks out of date.
IPA glass.
A: Seemingly thick, syrupy pour with almost no head. Tawny dark and hazy orange.
S: Tangerine and faint honeysuckle.
T: Malty and sweet flavors of slight roast and toffee although piney hops are there to offer some balance. Very underwhelming and nondescript though this can is quite old.
M: Again, thick syrupy and flatly carbonated. Almost cloying finish.
O: This may be pretty good when fresh but this can has showed nothing to make me buy again.
