3.0Bottle sample at a tasting at troubles' place. Clear yellow. Yeast, fruity esters, wood, sweetish, light sourness, a bit spicy, medium-bodied, alcohol note.
3.0At Dror's place pours golden with a nice head, aroma of fruits, lemon, metal, flavor is acidic, fruity, alcoholic, herbs, medium bodied
3.524 February 2019. Wieze Bierfestival - cheers to Meeki, Ama Deke & the lovely Anke!
Clear yellow with a lasting, small, foamy, off-white head; some lacing. Aroma of nice mix of spices (rosemary, thyme, estragon), 'béarnaise', white bread, mustard, pepper, lime, pineapple, apple peel, banana. Taste is light to medium spicy bitter, thyme- & estragon-like notes again, bit peppery, sweetish fruity notes of apple, pear & banana on a honeyish & bready malty base; faint sourish lemon & wheat in the back. Dryish, grassy hoppy finish, spicy, lingering yeast, yellow fruits, and some warming gin-like alcohol. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Could do with some ageing as a Sour Ale, presumably, but this sample was fine in any case.

4.4Many thanks for this elegant beer to tderoeck. Bottle from 2014 because this is 120 years Anniversary Limited Edition bottle.
4.275 fles. Vlokkig tweeschijn goudgeel kleur, fijne romige witte schuimkraag. De geur is citrus en karamel. Smaak is zoet, citrus, hout en vanille. Medium lichaam, veel koolzuur
3.715-04-2018; bottle; at home (bought somewhere at a supermarket in The Netherlands).
The looks of the beer are simple. The color of the beer is pale yellow. The beer has some haziness to it. On top of the beer a layer of crisp, white soft foam is formed. Foam retention is average. It doesn't look to special.
The smell of the beer isn't bad. It isn't completely my style, but is is nice. There are some nice malty aromas, giving some sweet touches. Hops give some nice fruity aromas. I smell some lemon zest, and also some freshly cut grass. Nice and refreshing! There is also a nice oaky aroma, together with some touches of grape. This contributes nicely to the fruitiness and the refreshing character of the smell. Yeast and oak cask flora give some nice sour refreshing aromas, with a hint of Bret. Also with a fruity edge. Nice.
The taste of the beer is nice. It needs some time to set...at first it is a bit rough (especially after a sweet coke), but as you get used to it, it gets to be really nice. There are some nice fruity flavours, mainly some grape, that also gives sweetness, but also some lightly sours. This pairs well with the sourness form the yeast and some of the oak sours. Hops give also some fruity sours, but mainly some nice bitters. The beer is well balanced. Nice.
The palate of the beer is nice. Medium body, smooth texture and rather high carbonation. The finish is nice. It has some oaks, and loads of fruitiness and bitter hops. Also some nice bitter dry hoppy notes are there. All in all, a very nice beer. When I saw it was labeled a Sour/Wild Ale I was scared that it was one of these unbalanced sour bombs, but it actually is very nice. Good work.
3.4Bottle: Poured an orange with a hazy off-white head. Aroma is Belgian yeast floral hops. Taste is yeast with some sour apple.
3.6750ml bottle (thanks FatPhil). Hazy golden amber color. Huge size, thick white head, stays. Sourish, grainy, fruity, apricots in aroma. Sweetish, sourish, grainy, earthy, apricots in taste. Fruity and grainy in aftertaste. Very easy to drink. Nice full body. Covers alcohol superbly. Solid brew.
3.5750ml bottle (Sip, Tallinn) (7:4:6+:4:14=3.5)
Lovely light fruity sourish aroma, hint of apricot. Lovely light palate, crisp carbonation. Light fruity malts, a touch of apricot. Gentle grains in the finish. Sourness is lovely and gentle woodiness is so mellow. Where’s the 8%? - this is super-easy. Wonderfully balanced and sophisticated. Gets woodier as you get into the crud at the bottom.
3.775cl bottle shared by Phil, thanks! Slightly hazy golden pour, big frothy off-white head. Nose is oaky, tart, vanilla notes, sweet fruit. Flavor is tart, fruity and dry, slightly sweet. Fruity and tart finish. Nice one.
3.9Licht Goudgeel, witte volle schuimkraag, iets wazig, voldoende koolzuur.
Complex bier!
Zeer goed!
3.3Drank during the tasting 08-07-17 (round 3 beer 2). Fresh blond beer, lightly sour.
3.7bomber shared poured a murky yellow with white head. musty funky dank apple hops. weird but pleasant. the flavor held true nice medium funky flavor not to much. apple hops dank nicely balanced start to finish.
3.5Had a glass for my dessert at restaurant Vrijmoed in Ghent. Hazy golden body with a medium white head. Green apples, tart notes, fruity. I like it.
3.9Sample at Zythos 2017. Aroma of apples and grapes. Faint touch of oak is also present however. Nice. Tastewise mildly sour with a refreshing evenly mild bitter ending. Clear notes of apples and grapes. Vinous, fruity and a sort-of a ’champagney’ finish with a mild bitter tone. Interesting and impressively tasty brew. Not that sour as a lambic or gueuze., but much more accessible for those that are not that fond of sour brews.
4.0at zythosbeerfestival 17, a blond beer with a lot of taste. Difficult to explain but it’s distant, yet far away; a fruity dry beer with lot’s of extracts, the cousin of a Geuze. the taste is sour at first but becomes refreshing as the ingrediënts take over. Very tasty and one of the best in it’s kind that I’ve tasted.
3.675cl bottle courtesy of Richardvv94. Appearance: clear light straw with medium white head. Aroma: white wine, green apples, lambic charachteristics, citrus, little soapy, some dust. Taste: fairly high sweetness, medium bitterness and slight tartness. Notes of green apples, white wine and brett. Palate: light bodied, watery to oily texture and high carbonation. Maybe even overcarbonated.
Droogtrekkende afdronk. M: Redelijk volmondig en medium carbonatie.
3.6At home. Bottle courtesy of Mrk. Hazy golden with massive white head. Sweet malts, marzipan, white grapes, spices, coriander, dry oak, fruity hops. Tangerine, lemon. Moderate sweet and bitter. Medium body, lively but soft carbonation. Reminds me of a tripel and gueuze blend I’ve had before. Nice complex aroma. Quite enjoyable slow drink.
3.6Bottle shared thanks to Mrk. Almost clear light golden with very big bright white head. Sweet tangerines, champagne, light oak, gooseberries, bitter grass, pils malts, dry marzipan. Quite unusual aroma with champagne being the most dominant I guess. Medium sweet and bitter, light sour. Medium bodied with sparkling carbonation. Quite unusual and interesting.
3.8Aroma:
Medium aroma of malts, Belgian yeast, wood, white wine, fruit, grains, hops and citrus.
Appearance:
Turbid yellow/golden beer with a large white head.
Taste/Palate:
Starts medium/heavy sweet with with malts, Belgian yeast, wood, wine and fruit; ends slightly bitter and dry with grains, hops and citrus.
Overall:
This beer is intense, complex and balanced. Lovely white wine character to a blond Belgian ale. I do not consider this a Sour/Wild Ale however, because some slight citrus is the only thing that could lead to that conclusion. Only the aroma could be stronger, otherwise this beer is great.
4.175cl bottle poured into a snifter on 10-Feb-2017. Hazy pale blonde colour with a large white head. Aroma of citrus, fruit and pine. Medium body and heavily carbonated. Light sweet tripel followed by a tart sour fruitiness. Honey, orange, melon, mango and hops. Light bitterness. Excellent - really enjoyed this.
3.8LCI. Pourd from the bottle. A very nice sour beer, not too sour, with some citrus and oak which works great on the palate. A surprising nice beer!
3.4Bottle from Pede Drinks, Wetteren. Hazy blond colour, white foam. Nose of citrus, hops, funk. Lots of carbonation. Refreshing. Bit thin body and too much carbonation. But not very bad.
3.4F: huge, white, very good retention.
C: gold, light hazy.
A: malt, honey, light barnyard, hint of oak, citrus, orange peels, spicy.
T: malt, honey, dusty, light citrus, spicy, orange peels, light floral, hint of fruity sourness, medium body, good carbonation, lacto, hint of funky, interesting and good balanced but still missing something to be remember, 75cl bottle from Delhaize @ Schaerbeek in Brussels.
3.7Tripel like beer but with sourness as well. Well over best before date so the hops have faded a bit. Too bad, it probably made it better. Still, the sourness gives an edge to an otherwise not so interesting tripel.
