De Cam Oude Lambiek

De Cam Oude Lambiek

Unlike many other unblended oude lambik, there exists both draft and bottled versions of De Cam Oude Lambiek.

Please note the age of the sample you are reviewing when entering your rating. While many factors determine whether you have had "Jonge" or "Oude" Lambik, a general rule of thumb is to enter 1 year-old or older lambik under "De Cam Oude Lambiek" and anything less than 6 months-old under "De Cam Jonge Lambiek".

For those between 6 and 12 months of age, you should take in to consideration the character of the lambik. Samples presenting themselves as hazy/cloudy, with some head-formation and residual sugar should be entered as "Jonge Lambik", while those that are drier, higher in clarity and with little/no head formation should be entered as "Oude Lambik".

3.7 0.75 l bottle from 'Prik & Tik' (Arendonk), 2016 vintage, cellared for almost four years. Almost clear, deep amber with a thin, fluffy, almost stable, white head. Sourish, rather fruity and gently funky aroma of old lemon, tonic water, gooseberry, horse blanket and wood. Minimally sweet, gently sour, quite fruity and slightly funky taste of old lemon, oak, grapefruit, leather and horse blanket, followed by a short, gently tart, quite funky, fairly woody-dry finish. Thin to medium body, gently astringent and minimally effervescent mouthfeel, almost flat. Rather mellow but nicely fruity and funky lambic, highly sessionable as well.
3.9 Botella del @Be hoppy, Madrid.
4.1 Rocznik 2015 (4 lata na leżaku). Piana obfita, sycząca, od razu znika. Barwa złota, klarowna. W zapachu cierpkie winogrona, jasne porzeczki, gruszki, siano, skóra... Klasa.
3.8 750ml bottle, 2016. Pours clear golden colour, small bubbly off-white head. Aroma is earthy, burnt rubber (in good way), benzin, grassy. Taste is quite mild and smooth, earthy, leathery, dried apple. Medium body, low carbonation. Very smooth and balanced

3.9 Pale orange amber color. Excellent horse blanket, hay, farmyard in the nose with good sourness. Low carbonation tons of dried apricot and nectarine character. Too low carbonation. Still love the funkiness
3.7 Barwa złota, piwo przymglone, piana biała. Mocno dzikie w wioskowy sposób, kwaśność cytrusowa, dużo nut owocowych (figi). Finisz cierpki.
3.4 Taster showing pale amber with sparse white foam. The nose shows moderately intense notes of brett and dried apricot. The palate is still and light bodied. Moderately tart with lightly flavors of brett and dried apricot.
3.9 Sunday, July 7, 2019. Bottle, 75cL. 5%. Purchase ("De Bierkoning", Amsterdam, NL). @Naintré shared with my parents. A brown-orange opaque beer ; no bubbles ; no head. Wood, vinegar notes, yellow fruits (apricot, peach?). Light sweet, quite round, medium dry sour refreshing. Medium body, thin texture, flat, light acid refreshig finish. Overall, great ! Really nice. Very drinkable, I expected a much more sour beer.

3.8 Bottle, 750 ml from De Bierliefhebber. Shared with Max and JFK10000. Cloudy orange with white head. Horse blanket, manour, almost flat, medium sourness, some fruit, citrus.
4.2 2012 bottle at Yaniv's tasting. This was terrific. Funky, lots of carbonation, light and tart. Excellent.
3.9 Pours a clear, light amber coloration with no head but some tiny carbonation bubbles clinging to the inside of the glass on first pour. Smell is tart and funky, with some sour grape, green apple and white vinegar notes as well as just a hint of blue cheese and oaky tannins. Taste follows the nose, being quite tart and funky, with notes of sour grapes, green apple, white vinegar and a strong and lightly tannic woody oak presence that has a certain earthy, musty quality to it, as well as ligher notes of blue cheese and hay. Finishes quite dry, with a medium/strong tartness and some funky, woody notes lingering in the aftertaste. Flat mouthfeel with a medium body and almost no carbonation. This being my first unblended Lambic, I thought it was quite interesting compared to the Geuzes I've had so far. It completely lacks the citric acidity that many Geuzes feature and instead has a much more vinegary and tannic character, as well as a very strong oak presence and a sort of more earthy and musty sourness/funk. The almost completely flat mouthfeel, despite some tiny carbonation bubbles actually being visible clinging to the inside of the glass, is probably the hardest to get used to. While this is quite an enjoyable brew due to its unique character, I don't think I will be seeking out traditional Lambic over Geuze in the future.
4.0 Bottle from online shop. Amber color, white head. Sour taste with citrus, oak, earthy notes, sour apple, tart, grass and a bit of vinegar. Sour finish with citrus, oak, vinegar, sour apple, tart, grass and earthy notes. Magnificent gueze.

3.4 75cl bottle @ Coracle, Ironbridge. Pours hazy deep brownish orange, thin off-white head. Aroma is fruity, some light apricot, grape. Low carbonation, light on the palate, a little smooth with a mellow fruity character, very low sourness, distant wild barnyard. Interesting to taste, but you do yearn for a good sour edge.
4.2 The aroma is typical for lambic: barnyard, a little straw and lemon. Yellow, slightly hazy with a nice white foam. The taste is similar to the aroma of the same barnyard and lemon. Acidity is average. Nice drinking beer. The body is medium, effervescent. High carbonation.
4.1 75cl bottle. 2009 Vintage. A clear pale golden beer with a small white head. Aroma of tart grapes, brett, apricot, funky. Taste of tart grapes, apricot, brett, nice.
3.6 Sampling tray at de Grote Dorst, from a bladder box?, 09/12/18. Hazed golden orange with a decent offwhite cap. Nose is mellow citric peel, lemon rind, damp wood, dusty hay. Taste comprises funk, apple core, wet grass, dusty notes, lemon, hay bale, barnyard esters. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Ok offering.
4.0 Hazy orange colour with no head. Lots of funky goodness on the nose. Sour with a lot of lemon. Reasonable level of carbonation. Delicious.
3.0 Butelka 0,75 l. Piwo w barwie ciemnego złota, wysycenie niskie do średniego. W aromacie winnie, owocowo (z winogronami, a dalej jabłkami i brzoskwiniami w roli głównej).
