3.8 Color granate oscuro, opaca.
2.8 Sour not to my liking. To someone that likes sours it probably knock s it out of the park. But not here. The alcohol content is high but you would never know it.
4.1 sour, effervescent, maybe too sour some malt
4.1 Kopparmörk vätska med livligt skum. Aromer av frukter, jäst och jordkällare. Jästig, lite träig men god lätt maltig kropp.
4.6 Pours red brown and hazy with a very dense and creamy offwhite head. Smells just insane and wonderful, like Rodenbach on steroids, lots of wood, fruit, warming alcohol, prune, caramel sweetness, and acidity. Wow! Flavour is lots of raisin, balsamic type acidity, tons of rich dark malt flavours, it coats your tongue like a red wine but leaves "Rodenbach"-like wild funk on your tongue. The beer is very full bodied, but the high acidity keeps it palateable. Immense beer, extremely complex mouthfeel with grain and creamy sourness. Just wild, I'm floored, both by the flavour and the alc content :)
4.2 18-07-20 // taster at 7th anniversary of Mon Petit Cafe in Suttgart. 2017 bottle. Lovely. Rich dark sourness.
4.3 2015 Vintage. 33cl Bottle @ Belgiuminabox.com, Antwerpen, Belgium. Dark brown colour with a thin tan head. Aroma is malt, red wine, red fruits, dried fruits. Taste is malt, sweet, red wine, cherries, raisins, toffee, oak, tart. Full body, soft carbonation.
4.2 330 ml bottle, 2015 vintage, bottled Sep 2017. Dark copper-brown body, with a small, creamy, beige head. Aroma of red wine, leather, overripe dark fruits, balsamico, dark berries, dried fruits, some sutble smooth toffee. Tastes quite similar, with more dry wood, a bit more vinegar. Medium, a bit oily mouthfeel, with an average carbonation. Finishes warm, a bit astringent, quite dry, wooden, vinous, leathery, with complex fruit notes of grape skin, dark berry skin, green apple skin, some brown sugar, slight balsamico. Very tasty! Drinks like a red wine, really elegant and complex, with diverse fruit notes and leathery wine barrel notes. The finish is really amazing, there is so much going on even minutes after the last sip. Beautiful Belgian classic, worth its reputation. Score: 8 / 4 / 8 / 5 / 17
3.7 Reserva 2007. @ Birraio dell'anno 18.1.20
4.7 Bottle, 2015 vintage. Dark brown color with a red shine, and thick creamy head, slowly disappearing. Aroma is immediately vinous, brandy, berries. taste is a mix of sour and sweet notes, perfectly balanced, vinousfruity, lactic acid. Quite low carbonation, full body, viscous/oily texture. The 13% alcohol is really well hidden, very complex beer but with quite an easy drinkability. Delicious.
4.3 2012 Vintage Bottle at home from a trade with Antoine of Malt Attacks, 23rd November 19. This was bottled in September 2013, 6 years old. Pours a dark chestnut brown red, a neat rim of head. Aroma is funk, balsamic, wood, vinous. Taste is greatly complex, vineous, damp wood, funk, dark fruit, booze soaked raisins, Sweet and sour, it’s powerful and moreish. Lovely aged and classical Belgian brew
4.2 Bottle, brewed in 2015.Color: Murky reddish brown, very thin off-white head. Aroma: Balsamico vinegar, red wine, toffee hints. Taste: Over medium sour, Balsamico vinegar, nicely combined with moderate to medium sweet flavours, vinuous red wine, hints of caramel and toffee and dark cherries. Oak wood, tannins, dry and astringent mouthfeel. Very nice complexity, a lot of flavours to explore. Pretty strong taste of red wine at the finish. Alcohol is well hidden. Over medium body, low carbonation. Great one.
4.4 Bottle at ‘t Brugs Beertje. 2015 vintage. Dark reddish brown with cream colored head. Very sour, dark fruit, cherry, wood aroma. Medium sour, woody and fruity. Very smooth. Very good.
3.9 330ml bottle. Hazy, dark brown colour with average to huge, frothy, slowly osteoporosing, minimally lacing, off-white head; all settled, a thin, creamy layer of tiny off-white bubbles remains permanently. Fruity, woody, chocolately dark malty, spicy and slightly vinous aroma, notes of morello, blue grapes, some plum, cocoa, nutmeg, cinnamon, balsamico, a mild funky touch. Taste is tart, fruity, spicy, dry oaky, tannic vinous and minimally sweet, chocolately dark malty, notes of morello, blue grapes, blackcurrant, a touch of plum, some balsamico, nutmeg, cinnamon, cocoa, all around a sour, biting vinegar-like main line. Watery texture, prickly carbonation, astringent palate.
4.1 330ml bottle at home, 2015 vintage. Cloudy amber brown with a lasting, frothy beige head. Dark sweet malt, nuts, molasses, raisins, toffee, earth, winter spice. Deep and complex. Medium soft carb, full bodied. Finish begins sweet, tart and funky then gradually dries, leaving malt, nuts and some smoke behind. Great stuff.
4.2 (330ml 2017 bottle from somewhere now forgotten) Pours rather hazy pale cola brown with reddish hints and a rapidly fizzing pale tan head. Notes of heavy oak, tannins, ruby port and madeira, grapes, tart cherries, a little dark fruit, rather high but not overbearing fruity acidity with some balsamic hints, red wine vinegar too, core of brown sugar and cola sweetness keeping the acidity in check. Quite crisp and mineral for a big dark sour, with fine cocoa bitterness adding richness and toast into the finish. Medium bodied and slick with high yet smooth carbonation. No sign of the 13% ABV at all. Beautifully crafted and unusual take on a Flemish brown type thing, this is a standout in style for its mix of complexity, drinkability and heft.
4.0 Dark brown color with tanned head. Aroma has wood, berries, raisins and sour fruity elements. Taste is fruity with long sour and somewhat sweet aftertaste. Flavors of cherries, oak, port wine like fruits and some sour elements. Some alcohol warmth but well hidden considering ABV.
4.3 Pours a muddy reddish-brown color with a thin but lasting tan head. Aroma of grapes, red wine, wood/oak, sour cola candy and dark chocolate. Flavors were bursting with red wine, acetic acid, oaky tannin and vanillin, dark chocolate, dried dark fruits. No hint of alcohol despite the 13% abv. Well-carbonated, with a viscous and full-bodied mouthfeel. Surprisingly easy to drink. A remarkable and memorable beer.
4.3 Color rubino con schiuma densa e poco persistente, al naso forte note acetiche, al gusto aspra, mela acerba e prugna
4.8 2013 vintage. 33 cl bottle served in its proper glassware. Hazy, dark, ruby red pour, with a tan head that leaves but a ring. Quite lambic-y and boozy in the nose. Cherries and strawberries galore, sour drop, a hint of coffee in the background. Bone dry, slick and oily mouthfeel and rather sour and tart flavor. Very long-lasting but totally bitterless. Gr-r-reat.
4.1 How: Bottle, 2015 vintage. Where: Shared by Patrik Wilke. Appearance: Hazy brown colour with a small tan head. Aroma: Dried fruit, vinous, alcohol, tart, malt. Body: Full body, low carbonation. Flavour: Vinous, dried fruit, a bit sour, malt, spices, alcohol.
4.0 2019/02/28 - Pours a hazy brown-amber colour with a foamy, khaki colour head that slowly reduces to a lingering surface and leaves no lacing. Aroma is lots of oak and vanilla, port, brown sugar, leather, tart cherry and dried dark fruits. Taste is more oak, port, vanilla, tart dark fruits and burnt brown sugar. Mouthfeel is light to medium with sharp carbonation and an acetic, dry finish. Lots of complexity and well hidden ABV.
4.4 Bottle, vintage 2013, courtesy of SinH4, many thanks! Pours deep brown. Aroma is acetone oak barrels, red wine, tree bark, little glue. Body is heavy and strong, yet waaaay too easy to drink. Rich and complex, sour and brown and chewy, oak barrels, red wine again, yet super smooth. Superb beer!
3.9 330ml bottle. 2015 vintage. Pours reddish brown colour. Thin white head. Cranberries, burnt caramel, notes of port or sherry, dried fruits, grapes in the aroma. Cranberries, burnt caramel, dried fruirs, moderate acidity, hints of toffee and grapes in the taste. Woody notes, burnt caramel and grapes in the aftertaste. Great balance, very nice complexity. Very great companion to Christmas dishes.
4.3 Red fruits, red wine, grapes and red berries, okie, good tart note, reddish with a good ocher head, medium body, quite fizzy, again okie and red wine/fruits, some caramel and a good acetic note...great!!
