3.9 Initially high carbonation,lots of foam.a creamy scent.also,a clear malty flavour.smooth.
4.1 Bottle from Etre Dark brown with faint garnet at the edges, brilliant clarity with a tan bubbly head that persists. Rich chocolate and caramelized sugars with bits of toffee, licorice and prune. A decadent layered malt bomb. So good.
4.1 N.miel cast, marzap, caff, cioc G.come sopra
4.0 Pours a very dark brown with a medium tan head. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malts, caramelized sugar, fudge, a hint of vanilla, banana ice cream. Taste is halfway medium sweet, over medium bitter and a soft sour linger. Mouthfeel is medium with soft bubbles. Could've used a bit more body but wow, very well made stout. Will have again for sure.
4.7 Opaque dark brown with a beige head that dilapidates quickly. Aroma is roasted malt. Complex taste, yet mild enough, well balanced. Sweet malt, roast, distant berry.
4.0 330ml bottle at Kunstroeg, Bruges on 29/07/2010. Heavens - a pretty wonderful stout. Loads of complex bitter, roasty, liquorice, oak, dark fruit and yeasty notes in this one. Lovely linger. Really drinkable.

3.5 My bottle was insanely lively and had a massive frothy head but I assume it just took a bump during delivery and this isn't indicative of how it normally is. Black beer, big head. malty aroma with caramel and a little chocolate. taste has that too. Toasty malt, caramel, a bit of a wine-y quality with some dark chocolate and a slight nuttiness in the finish. Despite the initial issues with having to mop some of it up off my desk this is rather tasty and although it has the warmth of an imperial stout it doesn't hit that hard so you need to be careful with it.
4.2 "Stout is an old-fashioned beer, but still popular in English speaking countries. Upon request by the American importer, we brew Stout a couple of times a year, with Roasted malt, Caramel malt and Pale malt, Nugget hops and the same fermentation as Oerbier. The combination of all that is a bitter, tart beer, with character. It could have been drunk in England or Ireland some 200 years ago. Cheers!" 330ml Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. Dark black with a thick tan head. It has a rich red fruit, wine, chocolate and malty flavour followed by a roasted nutty, milk chocolate and tart fruity finish. Excellent!
3.2 14/20 nice with the usual belgium rich fruit tastes, doesn't taste like 9%, very drinkable, not as explosively tasty as some belgium beers but good
4.1 Bottle. A- Licorice, grape, cocoa, mild char. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Leather, char, roasty, tobacco, dark fruits, mild bitterness. P- Full body, creamy texture, average carbonation, slightly smoky finish. O- Excellent stuff. Lots of mildly sweet dark fruit balanced by some roasted charred notes. Lots of flavor.
3.6 Carbonazione elevata, corpo leggero, caffè predominante in entrata. Bella stout.
3.8 Bottle from Belgiuminabox. Pours a rich black colour with a huge thick creamy beige head. Stunning looking beer. Strong aromas of roasted malts, coffee, dark fruits, vinous notes, cherries, a little chocolate, liquorice and alcohol. Taste is again roasted with the same notes as the aroma leading to a more slightly tart dark fruity finish. A little bitterness. A bit of fizz on the palate. Medium bodied with a slightly oily texture. Lots of different flavours going on between roasted and fruity. Really nice.
4.0 Bottle from Spec’s. Fairly black with a big tan head and some sediment and a thick lacing. Roast, figs and raisins, molasses, and a touch of smoked meat. Medium-full bodied and pretty smooth with a little fizz. Roasty, semi-sweet and lightly bitter.
3.9 Pours almost black, big mocha head. Aroma: creamy, bitter roast, decent amount of chocolate. Taste: full, bitter roast, grainy, fruity hops, tasty yeast. Tasteful, soft MF, good one.
4.0 Dark/black with tastes of chocolate, dark bread, fig, coffee and a very light smoky flavor with a slightly high carbonation compared to most stouts. Not to many Belgian stouts around but this comes highly recommended, served at 12 degrees Celsius it’s a perfect match with a cigar in front of the fireplace on a cold night.
3.8 Roasted malts, caramel and coffee aromas. Strong carbonation. Dark red fruits, chocolate and coffee flavours.
3.8 Keg at Cafe Beermoth, Manchester. A black colour with a medium tan head. Aroma of fig, plum, raisin, some Belgian yeast and slight chocolate. Taste of fig, plum, raisin, slight liquorice, cherry, chocolate and subtle coffee. Medium bodied and soft to moderate carbonation. A sweetish, cherry chocolate finish. A traditional, old fashioned Belgian stout.
3.4 Pours dark ruby with a light beige head. Aroma of brown sugar, fig, plum, prune, grape, raisin, caramel & brown bread. Taste burnt Brown sugar ,fig, plum, raisin, prune,a little coffee & dark chocolate. Light bodied with a little to much carbonation. The finish is nicely bitter and dry with more earthly coffee, brown sugar, plum, fig ,prune, raisin & dark chocolate.
3.8 This 33 cl bottle was found at Best of Beers in Aalborg, DK on our recent trip. I have cooled off the bottle and am pouring into a Teku glass for no specific reason other than I want to. It delivers dark, very dark with a gigantic head of medium brown foam, a light touch is recommended. The initial smell is inviting with dark fruit, dough and malt. But I bought it to drink, here we go. Bread, grain, raisin, wood and a bit of sourness. And there is some fair bitterness concluding. Not my favorite De Dolle but I am fortunate to get a try.
Koffie, bitter. Ik vind Guinness lekkerder
4.3 Bottle, 2014, courtesy of SinH4, thanks! Pours black with a huge beige head. Aroma is coffee, fig, plum. Body is heavy but not dense, coffee, decent carbonation, very round and gentle. Waaaay too easy to drink, complex and flavourful. Delicious.
3.9 Slightly hazy darkest brown colour with a huge head. Roasted malts, subtle fruity sourness, dark cherries, liquorice, black coffee, very good.
Eigenzinnig. (8-6-2019).
Eccezionale. c. Beer-shop.it 17.05.19
3.9 Copenhagen 27/4 2019. 33 cl bottle from Ølhandleren from Give (web-shop). Charming label with hand drawing of the brewery and a lot of text about the brewery, the beer and that it is advisable to store it cool. Quite gushy when I open it. Pours opaque dark brown with a very big light beige head. Settles as a 2 cm thick blanket of fluffy foam covering the surface of the beer completely. Moderate lacing. Aroma is rich, intense, sweet and bitter at the same time. Dark chocolate, caramel, hints of coffee, dark fermented fruits. Prominent alcoholic presence. Strong carbonation. Medium thick, oily, tingling texture. Flavor is medium sweet followed by a medium strong boozy bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter-ish with a metallic tang. Lingers for a while. Dry finish. A powerful stout with a heavenly aroma. The fizzy carbonation takes a while to get accustomed to.
3.5 Kolor czarny, bez prześwitów. Piana brązowa, olbrzymia, momentalnie wyskoczyła z butelki pozbawiając mnie około połowy jej zawartości. Aromat: intensywna kawowa paloność, nieco słodka, czekolada, z charakteru przypominająca tę belgijską, ciemne owoce. Smak: tutaj ponownie kawa i jej paloność, dalej wiśniowa kwaśność, akcenty przyprawowe i owocowe. Goryczka wyraźna o charakterze palonym. Alkohol idealnie schowany. Wysycenie: piwo ewidentnie przegazowane. Ciało o dziwo niskie, piwo jest dość wodniste. Faktura szorstka.
