3.7 Originally rated March 2006. Bought at the Dépanneur de la Rive in Cap-Rouge, Quebec. Written DEC 2006 on plain golden bottle cap. Pours a cloudy blonde-caramel colour with a white foamy head and good retention. Kind of looks like a witbier. Lots of carbonation and lacing is sloppy all around the glass. The nose reminds me of a pilsner. After breathing a bit, the aromas turn to spices and yeast. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavours are also yeasty with some decent dry hoppy finish. Quite a refreshing brew and a nice mix between a witbier and a pilsner.
3.3 Brewery Tap, Bruges Pours golden amber with white head. Fruit notes in aroma. Moderate carbonation, medium body. Somewhat sweet with dry finish. In Belgian context, nothing special.
2.9 Bottle and served in my Ommegang Anno Tulip: Pours a slightly cloudy golden/light amber hue with a few floaties, small but lasting frothy head, okay lace. The aroma has notes of wheat husks, pils, biscuit, honey, some lemon, banana, and clove esters along with light herbal hops. The taste is rather mundane, grainy with light fruit and slice notes. Bubblegum and earthiness throughout. Hint of soapy notes along with very light bitterness. The mouth feel is lively but not all that refreshing. Just like the Leffe Blonde before it, rather forgettable but then I am not really sure how fresh this bottle is always.
3.4 This stuff is okay. Had better, had worst. Maybe I’m biased against most beers from Brugge.
3.0 standard big cabonation and color for the style. light belgian malt aroma and flavor with a touch of hops. its descent.
3.4 mmm strange my bottle states 9% alcohol ... head: white, bubbly , away fast colour: gold smell: hops, yeast, flowery, grassy, some wheats, alcohol taste: grainy/cereal in the start, hopy, bitter, malty and grassy palate , alcohol in the end , end is dry ,aftertaste is grass , not bad
3.4 highly sweet, with lots of herbs and cloves. taste resembles a touch of bubble gum and malts richness. very little hops still god to drink.
3.1 The aroma is almost like a hefe with bubble gum, coriander, malt, cloves, and a bit of the belgian yeast fruitiness. The appearance is amber gold with a medium head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall this is a good beer it is different for the style it just doesn’t jump out as special .
3.1 This was the first beer i ever had on my own (as a tender teenager in Belgium on the factory tour); surprised to find it again. Pretty dark for a "blond," its low head and fruity aroma remind one of a pale ale; its complexity, full body, bite (6%) and thicker texture indicate its Belgian provenance. Higher carbonation is a plus too. Not bad, but alas perspective does not always improve the taste :)
3.3 Halve Maan Brewpub, Brügge, Belgium. 2007, Tap Blonde with white head. Aroma of malt and yeast. Flavor is with fruit and spices.
3.0 In short: A generic sweet Belgian blonde ale. How: Bottle 330ml. Consumed some time ago, probably when 6+ months of age. The look: Cloudy blonde body, lots of small particles, small long lasting small head leaving good lacing. In long: Yeasty nose with spicy notes. Taste has plenty of bready malts, sugary cake, a bit doughy, some fruit skins, no hops, medium spiciness that seems to come from the yeast, metallic notes, some old sugary honey, a touch of lemon, light acidity, light notes of oranges. Spiciness almost dry out the finish. Alcohol is apparent despite the relatively low abv. All in all this is the kind of beer I’ve had a million times before. Drinkable but nothing special. I had found memories of the Straffe Hendrik. This beer along with the old version of Lucifer were once widely distributed and I used to drink the shit of it. I thought it was great back in the days. This is one of the handful of beer that got me into craftbeer years ago. Now many years later I drink a bottle to rate it and I wonder what I liked so much about this beer. Clearly a case of the good old days multiplied by a bad memory.
3.5 Light copper pour with generous head. Sweet mildly spiced Belgian ale. Rated 5/2/04
3.5 Fløska, Unclear amber-orange colour. Sweet malty caramel fruity yeasty bit spice in aroma. Good mouthfeel. Sweet malty caramel pleasant flavour with some fruit, yeast, light bitternmess. Nice.
3.1 Serving: 330 ml. bottle from Fire Works. Pours a light copper color with a foamy, white head. The nose is dusty with notes of Belgian yeast, clove, perfume, and forals. The taste is classically Belgian with all of the yeast and spice notes. There is a good bit of dust and a tough of hay as well. The mouthfeel is light with high carbonation and a medium-short finish. A classic if somewhat predictable Belgian ale.
3.6 Picked up a 33cl bottle in Brugge Hazy orange body, large rocky white head hangs around. Spicy aroma; lots of pepper and clove, notes of ripe summer fruits and citrus. High carbonation, big body, creamy texture that dries out eventually. Rich pale malt sweetness upfront, ripe apricot and melon esters with spice lingering on a slightly boozy finish. Nice tripel, maybe not as good as others.
2.9 Bottle. Frothy white good mostly lasting head. Yellow colour. Light malty and hoppy aroma. Week yeasty notes. Moderate bitter slightly bready flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate. Not very good.
3.1 Bottle. Medium head with medium duration. Color is golden-amber. Aroma and taste are sugar, caramel, hops, malt, fruits and yeast.
3.4 30 cl bottle. Pale coloured beer with colourless head. yeasty odour but also a bit cheese smell like old hops have been used. A bit sharp mouthfeel due to the excessive CO2. Nice bitter taste which lasts
3.3 Bottle @ Den Tatoverede Enke, Cph. [vintage 2006] Pours hazy orange-golden with a small, creamy, white head that stays as a thin film. Aroma has light cellar notes, caramel, yeast and a slight spicy edge. Highish carbonation, fine mouthfeel. Flavour is rather light, some maltiness, light fruit, apples, oranges primarily. Fine bitter finish with slight oxidized cellar notes and grainy buscuity malt.
3.4 On Tap at Le Trappiste, Altrincham 10/01/2008 Hoppy and slightly spicy aroma. Large white head. Some carbonation. Clear golden coloured strong in alcohol and hoppy with a little bitterness and dryness in a crisp full malt finish.
3.3 33cl bottle, clear yellow with big foamy head. Some head retention. Aroma is nice. Bit citrusy, spicy and yeasty. Fruity also. Taste is a bit simple. A bit metallic. A bit fizzy on the tongue. Rating #86 Re-rate 090512 taste is no longer metallic. Still a bit simple. No change in rating
3.4 25cl, recently retired brew, from De Bierloods Adegem, complex brew, yet easy to drink, balanced, hazy, good head, good brew
3.5 330 bottle, the first time I drank this bottle was in Brugges 15 years ago. A: yellowish, golden with a white head, some head retention but thin. S: some bitterness on the nose, some hops T: fizzy on the tongue, nice bitterness, a lot of caracter M: medium-bodied ale D: nice refreshing belgian ale, I like this one
3.4 bottle, pours carmel with a white head. Nose is mostly malt, sweet flavors with a light alcohol burn. Nice.
3.1 Pale orange with fluffy white head. Aroma of apples and malt. Some spice, bitter finish. Not bad.
3.6 Bottled. Cloudy golden, medium fluffy white head. Fruity and spicy with barnyard notes. Well balanced with a dry finish.
3.3 Four 12oz bottles purchased at Jovi in Gatineau. Best before date of October 2008, consumed in July 2008. Pours a nice pale cloudy gold with a large billowing head. Light yeasty aroma. Taste is on the light side with a mild spice feel from the yeast.
3.2 Bottle. Golden blond beer, thick white head. Nose of yeast, malts, some sour apples. Taste is dry, yeasty and somewhat bitter, with some sour apples. Slightly sweet. Nice beer to start the evening.
3.1 The yeast is what carries this beer through. Its clear golden with a foamy white head and extremly carbonated. Aroma is fruity easty, same with the flavor, along with some dry eartheren hob notes. Not overly interesting.
