De Halve Maan Brugse Zot

De Halve Maan Brugse Zot

Bottle; Unfiltered.

In 2005 Xavier Vanneste, son of Mrs Véronique Maes, renovated and restarted the old brewery which had been in the family since 1856. He launched Brugse Zot, a new beer with a unique recipe. Today Brugse Zot is the only beer brewed in Bruges’ town centre!

The people of Bruges are known as "Brugse Zotten" (Bruges Fools), also known as "Brugse Jonckers"

3.6 Had in bottle in Brugge. Poured cloudy gold with a white head. Aroma has some restrained malt. Medium body beer with malt flavor and some Belgian esters. Decent gold ale.
3.3 Bottle. Cloudy gold with a bold big Belgian white head. Aroma of apples, pear and spice (coriander). Taste of yeast, apples, citrus fruits, some bananas and more spice (clove and coriander). Just slightly sour and acidic. Moderate bitterness. Low carbonation. It does sound weird but for some reason I can’t help to think of some homemade Ciders I once had in a little cozy pub in Somerset. Simple but nice.
3.3 Big white head. Clowdy light golden color. Mild phenols in the aroma. The taste has more belgian phenols. A distinct bitterness and a medium body.
3.5 Tasty good carbonation bannana and lightly spiced a really good beer
3.5 Golden pour with a decent white head; Aromas of yeast, white bread, tastes of citrus, banana, some herbs, hops - bitter, but pleasant finish
3.7 Flaska från SB. Klar, ljusguldig, högt vitt skum. Enkel belgisk blond, rena och klara smaker, snäll jästighet, snäll kryddighet, toner av druvor, äpple, päron. Gott.
Robe dorée assez transparente, mousse peu persistante. Bouche maltée, équilibrée, levure belge, blonde belge typique.
4.0 Goed bier in balans
3.6 Huisbrouwerij De Halve Maan Brugse Zot 6.5%. Amber, sour fruit aroma, medium bodied, wheat malt, banana, sour fruit. Pleasant Belgian Pale Ale from Brugge, West Flanders 🇧🇪
3.2 Tap.
2.5 330ml on tap at the Beers Bank, Brussels. Aroma is light coriander, ginger, citrus. Appearance is light cloudy yellow with a thick white foam. Taste is light sweet, very light bitter. Refreshing, light, beer.
4.0 Zacht
3.5 Bottle from Honest Brew. Pours a cloudy dark gold with moderate sized white head Aroma of sweet malts, yeast, banana, bread, spice. Taste is quite fruity with a tang to it, yeast, citrus zest, bread, grassy bitter finish, light alcohol warmth. Medium bodied, high but fine carbonation. Good.
3.3 Malt aroma, hops, a little grassiness. Orange color, cloudy with good fine-grained foam. On the palate there is malt, herb, a slight sourness in the aftertaste. Medium body, high carbonation.
3.6 Keg at Dovetail, Farringdon. Spicy yeasty aroma. Opaque ber. Thin creamy  head. Spicy yeasty flava. Medium bodied. Flat carbonation. Long finish. Enjoyable warming beer.
Textura acuosa, cuerpo medio-ligero y carbonatación alta.
3.0 330ml bottle from Beer Hawk. Thin white head, minimal lacing. Clear golden amber body. Yeast and malt on the nose, typical Belgian aroma. Flavour is biscuit, yeast, banana, fruit syrup. High carbonation, crisp mouthfeel. Decent.
3.8 Bottle from the Belgian Beer Company. First tasted it at the brewery following a tour. Has the traditional Belgian strong taste which belies the 6% strength. Not unpleasant but not my favourite Belgian beer.
3.0 Buena cerveza
3.7 0.33 l on tap at the brewery. Hazy, golden amber with a medium large, foamy, stable, white head. Sweetish, gently fruity-floral, slightly grassy and moderately yeasty aroma of lemon peel, fresh grass, some clove and a touch of honey. Slightly sweet, gently bitter, quite fruity-grassy, slightly floral, gently yeasty taste of fresh grass, lemon peel, honey, clove and some vanilla, followed by a medium long, gently bitter, fairly grassy, moderately yeasty-spicy finish. Medium body, slightly creamy and gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Very refreshing, highly quaffable, hoppy Blond. Never tried it before, not even from the bottle, probably never gets better than at the source.
3.2 Clear, deep golden color and a nice white head. Yeasty, malty with a herbal-hoppy finish.
4.0 Dry refreshing finish
3.6 33cl bottle from Delhaize store in Bruxelles, drinking it on 22/07/2021 BB 08-06-2023 Pours hazy dark gold- a bit orangy with thin white foam on top. Aroma is malty and fruity, some belgian yeast, slightly sugary and hoppy, spices. Reminded me slightly of Delirium beers from Huyghe. Taste is sweet and fruity with pale malt, belgian yeast, some apricot and banana, citrus, spices and some wheat sourness. Really easy to drink and pleasant taste, easy to enjoy and could easily drink much more of it. 6% abv so sessionable enough. Sweet but not too much. Medium body, really smooth and moderate carbonation. Very drinkable and delivers.
3.2 Orange brown, hazy. Decent white head. Faint aroma, malt, raisin. Rich and fruity flavour, dried fruits, biscuit, honey, medium to high carbonation - foams in the mouth. Slight bitterness in the finish. OK.
