3.3 @ bar Becolth Boxtel Netherlands. A dark amber colored beer, with a nice beige head. The aroma has sweet caramel, with fruity, citrus tones. The taste is bittersweet, warm and a characteristic the Konick taste. A lite bitter aftertaste.
3.0 330 cl. bottle on 3/10/08. Lots of floaties in an otherwise clear amber pour. Very spare, vanishing, bubbly head without any appreciable lace. Sweet caramel, brown sugar, yeast, and light fruit aromas. Medium body, very light carbonation to the point of almost being still, some stickiness. Malty sweetness dominates the flavor and extends well into the finish, when some soft spicy bitterness makes a long awaited appearance.
3.3 330 ml bottle. Hazy amber body with rather small off-white head. Aroma is caramel malt, fruity and a hint of this typical De Konic spiciness. Flavor is malty, a bit sweet, fruity and surprisingly light, almost no alcohol.
3.4 Bottle as "Cuvée Antwerpen 93". Clear medium amber color with a average, frothy / fizzy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, vintage, sherry notes. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. (141207)
3.4 Bottle BB 12/04. Pours amber/mahogany with a thin crust of white bubbles. Smells of sugar, iced tea, earth, citrus. Tastes of resudual sugar, some pepper, hints of spice. Past its prime but still enjoyable.
3.3 Name: Cuvee Date: 04/22/2007 Mode: Bottle Source: Tasting dark gold with lots of floating yeast chunks, yeasty sweet malt aroma with a light fruity tartness, thick body, malt flavor with lots of fruity esters, bready yeasty quality, sweetness is forefront but not overbearing, little to no bitterness Aroma: 7/10; Appearance: 4/10; Flavor: 7/10; Palate: 7/10; Overall: 13/20 Rating: 3.3/5.0 Drinkability: 8/10 Score: **+/4
2.7 Not a big fan of yeast filled beers. Pours light copper. Nothing special. Bottle dated 2004..don’ t know if a brewed on date or drink by date. I hate that I bought a four pack of this stuff. Yeasty, slightly spicy flavor.
3.2 Bottle in an xmas gift pack. Aroma is yeasty and bready. Slight ripe fruit notes in the nose. Flavour is again, fruity, and yeasty. Pretty run of the mill if you ask me.
2.4 Hallelujah! I found a back-up of my broken PDA, with rating I’d thought I’d lost forever. :-) Aroma is bready, not much else. Flavor is light, alcohol presence is notable.
3.4 Best before 2004. Body is brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is tart with apples and white wine, bit of grapefruit, and saltiness to it also. Taste is fairly alcoholic for 8%, has a cider like quality to it with light caramel, yeast, and light hop forefront to it, light raspberry, and old chocolate taste shows up in the end.
3.3 Brownish head, amber colouring, sweet aroma, caramel palate, hops, nice body
3.0 Bottled. Hazy golden coloured with a rather large head. A bit dusty with notes of yeast, fruits and hints of spices.
2.6 750 mL bottle that had roughly an inch of yeast at the bottom of the bottle. Upon opening the bottle, large chunks of yeast danced throughout cariied by the carbonation. In the glass, it appeared a light amber with yeast that just would nor flocculate. Aroma is that of a lightly hopped pale ale that has been infected with brettanomyces. Soma light fruit and sweet malty flavors and aromas but the presence of brett does not make it that enjoyable. Only purchase if you are vitamin B deficient and need a huge dose of yeast to consume.
2.9 "Poured a cloudy golden color. Aroma was fruity and spicey. Flavor was light fruits and spices and hops in the finish, little thing on the mouthfeel, but not a bad beer"
3.1 Best before 1999. Dark orange/brown body with floaties and thin white head. Aroma was a musty old cork. Flavor was sweet, leathery, earthy malt. Palate was smooth and soft and void of any carbonation.
3.2 Thanks to eric for sharing this old bottle- best before 99. Pours a hazy amber with lot sof yeasty particles and a thin fading head. Aroma is traditional old belgian beer, with some oxidation, light cardboard, wine-like, and has a slight pediococcus bacterial infection- some cherry pie like aromas and relatively sweet. Lots of earthy cork both in the arom and flavor, also more cherry pie in theflavor, and finishes with a wierd slight tart light alcohol finish. It kept a lot of its sweetness but finishes tart and dry.
3.1 Thanks to egajdzis for this... It has a ’99 date stamped on it. Appears a dark hazy brown with a small off white foamy head and scattered lacing. Smell is of oxidized old cork, vanilla, caramel, and sugary syrup. Taste is of sweet malt & syrup...nothing really good standing out. Mouthfeel is of light, sugary syrup. Unbalanced mess. Aging perhaps?
3.3 750ml corked bottle acquired in joint trade. Bottle labeled best before Feb ’99. Poured a medium and cloudy amber color with a smaller sized off white head. Some floaters. Aromas were dominated by cork with some yeast. Just smelled all around old and musty. Tastes of no cork, fruity, caramel, light leather, and light spices. Has a sweet maltiness to it.
3.3 Thanks to egajdzis. Pours a hazy golden amber with a small bubbly off white head with some small floaties. Aroma of cork, musty with some various fruits. Flavor of vanilla, candy corn and malty. This may have been past it’s prime but thanks to Eric for bringing it by.
3.5 [BB 2/99] Poured a hazy amber color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malts, some cork, nuts, yeast, and light oxidation. Taste of more caramel malts, light cocoa, dried fruits, green apple, spices and light alcohol as well. Low carbonation / soft mouthfeel.
3.7 On tap at Lucky Baldwin’s Belgian Beer Festival 2006 in Pasadena. Clear tan with a medium off-white diminishing head. Good lacing. Aroma is mostly yeast (leather?) with some sweet fruits, very intriguing. The yeast shows up first in the flavor profile as well--slightly funky and not bad at all! Alcohol is apparent but well controlled. Sweet malts, reminiscent of honey. Sweet hoppy fruits, citrus and white grapes. Lightly acidic in a way that doesn’t hurt at all. Finish is brief and sweet. Bubbly and watery on the palate with light body. I picked this beer blind off the dwindling list of taps that were not gone yet and was pleasantly surprised. I don’t know why it’s rated so low!
3.5 Note that this is likely not a retired beer. The bottle says something like "returned by popular request". Pours a chunky light brown with a decent head. Lots of floaters in this one (trub). Maybe my pour was tad agressive? Roasted malt and fruit on the nose with a touch of hops. Bitter on the tongue with a sugar cane malty body (kinda roasty) and a touch of spicy hop in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium light with a fair fizz. A bit of lacing on the glass. Seems to reveal more of a hop bitter character as I near the bottom of the glass and the brew warms a bit. Not a bad brew but I favor many other Belgians over this one.
3.0 I don’t think this is retired. Anyway... clear reddish brown body with a small head. Caramel and sugar all the way with aroma and flavor. I actually liked the regualar version better. This felt too thin and alcholic. 7 of these stupid things left...
2.2 white grape sparkling wine aroma. grapefruit. orange color. more yeast chunks than i have ever seen floating around. minimal white head. kind of sour and citrusy. this may have gone bad.
3.4 A Mes rate: Pretty decent. Shame they changed it in favour of the new version which is not quite as good. Very red amber colour. Plenty of caramel and brown sugar. Lovely palate. Strong hops in the finish turning more bitter as it goes on. Not bad at all
3.1 Bottle. Amber colour with a white head. Dark fruits aroma and taste, light sweet. Medium body and a sweet finish.
3.4 RBESG05: Old nose, cardboardy, a little woody. Some dark fruits there too. Dark gold in colour. Sweet caramel, fruits and alcohol, but still refreshing.
3.3 Bottled at RBESG 2005. Orange coloured with an off white head. Aroma of dried fruits and wood. Flavour of wood with some sweetness and notes of fruits and dried fruits.
3.1 Bottled @ RBESG 2005: Orange/amber colourd. Light unclear. No head. Aroma is "old". Some prunes and raisins in the nose. Very sweet and sherrylike flavour. Some distinct alcoholnotes. Ends on a somewhat spiced fruitiness.
3.1 Bottle @ RBESG2005. Quite old bottle. Moldy and acidic nose, quite oxidized. Dark amber body, small white head. Sweet flavor, with some nice fruityness, ends slightly alcoholic.
