You’re no doubt wondering where the name comes from and what the hell the foreign text says. It’s all been explained to us by the brewers, but we’re still not entirely clear about it. What we can understand is that a young Flemish man has gone and married a French-speaking Wallonian girl, and his father, Taras Boulba, is very angry. (Smeirlap means ‘fool’ in a bizarre local dialect, which combines Flemish and French, somehow.)

Blonde - amertume prédominante dans cette bière qui n’est pas la meilleure de la brasserie de la seine
Bière achetée chez Leclerc Templeuve, l'étiquette a attiré mon regard :) Robe jaune paille, mousse bien épaisse sur plusieurs cm, c'est quasi une chantilly assez désagréable à déguster (je l'ai jetée). Bouche beaucoup trop houblonnée selon moi et goût de pils que je n'aime pas.
Hazy light golden with a thick white head. Taste is some grain and a hoppy bitterness.
Bottle from Beermoth, Manchester. Have wanted to try this for a little while as it's both a new style and a new region for me. So... it's hazy gold with a large white head. Lager-y aroma with grass. Tastes of grass, hay, white bread and a touch of banana milkshake. A little spice, some dusty old lemon. Quite bitter, and lightly dry. It grew on me.
Robe d'un blond doré et trouble. Le nez est fermier et fait songer à une Saison. La bouche est amère et sèche. Avec seulement 4,5 % au compteur, c'est une belle bière "Session", presque de soif mais avec une identité propre.
Belgian beer classic revisited. I think it still remains a statement despite it's wide availibility : the brewers had shown the craft beer world Belgians also can make extra hoppy bears. And hops can play they own part in taste and aroma of a beer.
OK, the message is sent and received. Maybe sumo wrestlers can do ballet. But we prefer to see them wrestle. The same goes for Belgian extra hoppy beers. They are possible. But are they really necessary?
0.33 l bottle at Ambasada. Zagreb. Hazy orange, small off-white head. Lemony, yeasty, spicy, coriander, doughy. Dry, malty, light, moderate to high carbonation, light finish.
Une blonde très claire, limpide, à la bouche plutôt amère. Pas trop ma tasse de bière mais elle reste sympathique.
pale yellow beer with a big fluffy head. in the taste are hops, malt, citrus, pine, grass and some bread. The looks and the taste reminds of north German Pilseners with a touch more sweetness. Very nice and refreshing.

Old rating from 2016 - 330ml bottle at the Apple & Pears in St Helier, Jersey. Pours light yellow with a white foamy head. Aromas & tastes of citrus, grass, bread, pine & yeast. Medium body. Snappy moderate bitter finish
Frisk. Malt. Bra beska.
Very bitter, fresh.

Taste: hops, malt, citrus, pine, grass, some bread, white currant. Medium body.
Pale golden color, medium sized white head. Aromas of citrus, yeast, wheat, grass and hops. Taste of yeast, hops, citrus and spices.
Blommig doft. Smak av blommor och humle. Medium humlebeska.
Looks fantastic in the glass – what a crown! Hoppy and grassy aroma. Some yeast, but also boiled vegetables. Bread. The taste is fresh, bitter, with some grainy notes. Somewhat light and watery.

Diese Brauerei aus Brüssel finde ich wirklich sympatisch. Die Biere sind gut komponiert und die Flaschen sind mit Comicfiguren lustig gestaltet. Dieses Saison mag nicht allzu intensiv sein, aber die Gewürznoten verknüpft mit der feinen Hefe passen gut und erfreuen die Zunge mit spitzen Aromenspielen.
Flaska från Systembolaget. Ljusare, lätt dimmig, ljusare gul öl, med ett äggviteskum. Doft av hö och jäst. Smaken är jästkryddig, hö, citrus- och örtig beska.
Quite bitter, some toasty background maltiness to keep it balanced. Finnish exhibits traces of yeast.

Taste; grassy hops, pale malts, yeast, peppery spices, caramel, and finishes okay. Feel; average body and co². Overall; not too typical PA, more as FA. Quite a lot of sediment in the bottle. Very frothy to pour with a white head. Decent malt and hops.
11.2 oz. bottle carefully poured to a fest chalice at home so as not to rouse too much of the visible sediment that coated the bottom of the bottle. Successfully resulted in a lightly hazed, straw tone, with an abundance of rising bubbles, a persistently sudsy layer of white froth, and foamy spots of lacing. The nose was moderate yeastiness, lemon, grass & greenery, and slight sweetness. Medium bodied, with decent fizz to the effervescence, the taste was similar, adding some lemony tartness, and pronounced earthy & peppery bitterness, with some complementary dryness to the finish. A nicely sessionable, hoppy blonde ale.
