3.4Bottle. Brownish coloured beer with a strong whitish coloured head. The aroma is strongly vinous and spiced, and the flavour is strongly bitter with loads of vinousness and spice. Overall an average strongly flavoured Belgian ale.
1.3Scent of yeast and caramel. Bitter, alcohol and yeast in the taste. No good bitterness that fills the upper part of the mouth for a long time. Could not drink this beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
3.3This is a backlog rating from 2012 from a bottle shared by Tmoney99, from notes. When I had this beer it was average to below average for the style and not something I wanted to have again or I just didn't get back to my notes because of my technology at the time, work and/or family. Words to describe this beer are sweet malts, spices, dark fruits, a musty character, strange.
3.0Bottle from FinestBelgianBeers.
Pours a hazy mahogany colour with a thick creamy beige head. Quite a lot of sediment. Nice looking beer with nice lacing. Aroma is of caramel, dry dark fruits, stone fruits, slight roasted malt, spicy, toasty and brown sugar. Taste is quite similar with some added zesty citrus (orange and grapefruit) notes on the palate. Prickly mouthfeel with a big hoppy earthy bitterness and a long spicy dry finish. Light to medium bodied. Quite unique. A nice enough sipper.

3.5Dark brown colour, large creamy head.

Taste: malt, herbs, yeast, some alcohol, spices. Some dates or raisins and a hint of caramel. Dry finish.
3.4Bottle from Systembolaget. Pours a dark amber colour beer with a medium head. Malty and yeasty notes of spices and herbs. Dry finish.
3.8Mahogany colored, large beige head. Sweet aromas of brown sugar, caramel, dried fruit, yeast, marmalade and alcohol. Sweet taste with dried fruit, nuts, alcohol and yeast.
3.5330ml bottle from belgiuminabox.com. Pours copper/brown with a big tan head that quickly diminishes. Aromas of alcohol, caramel, spices, dark malts. Taste is lacking compared to aroma and although you can feel the alcohol, body is not full. Some caramel but also leaves a long bitterness atypical for such a beer. Could be great but now it's just good.
3.0330ml bottle. Pours reddish brown colour. Moderate white head. Caramel, malts, hints of some spices in the aroma. Slight fruitiness from the yeast. Caramel, malts and bitterness in the taste. Bit spicy, floral, bitter aftertaste..Drinkable brew. Bit boring thow.
3.0Bottle from Damian. Pours dark red to amber with big white head, aroma of cherries, malt, caramel. Taste of malt, cherries, fruity, medium bitterness, medium sweet, slightly sour, fruity finish. Mediocre.
3.2(à chaque gorgée, la note baisse de 0,5/10 : 1ère gorgée : 8, 2nde : 7,5, 3ème : 7, 4ème : 6,5, se roidit, cacophonie) (cuvée 2018 : ça n'a pas l'air de ressembler à celle des critiques lues : se sont-ils éloignés du breuvage original ?)
3.8Flesje thuis gedronken. Roodbruin troebel bier, flink schuimend tijdens inschenken.
0.5Tried on tap. Nice dark brown Belgian strong color. Aroma alcohol first then caramel and chocolate. Light body, as expected, nice bitter ending, 6.5/10
3.6Vycap unorthodox. Vôňa alkoholova kontaktoval.
Farba červeno tmavá. Chuť kávová.
3.4Bottle @ VanMoll, Eindhoven. Reddish amber, offwhite lacing. Herbal, zoethout, dry, dried fruity winter ale. Medium body and carbo
2.7On keg at Belgium & Blues, Southampton. Pours opaque dark brown witth a beige head. Aroma: bread, figs, spices, candy sugar. Taste: light to moderate sweet & bitter, dry, brown bread, toffee, earthy, dried fruits, berries. Medium body, light carb, dry tannic bitter finish. Wasn't a fan
3.7Trübes Kastanienbraun mit reichlich Schaum. Malzig, reichlich Nüsse, Karamell, leicht fruchtig, Waldbeeren, etwas Rumtopf, süffig.
2.1Brown with lots of sediments. Light Brown head. Spicy aroma, figs, alchohol and light toffee. Unbalanced alchohol flavor with a lingering alchohol finish
2.8Ar: Figs and light sherry; a little nougat. Ap: Amber-brown and murky; small light tan head with low retention, settling into a stencil ring and a nebula of covering. T: Toast and figs; steely, almost metallic; no sweetness; bitterness is medium-high quite tannic; the black tea flavor takes over into the finish, quite astringent. P: Medium-light body with medium-high carbonation; dry finish. O: The tannic bitterness and black tea are overpowering, covering up the nice malt and fruit flavors before they can really come into their own.
3.2Keg at Beer Merchants. It pours hazy darkest brown with a small beige head. The aroma is toasty, brown bread, spice, bit of candi sugar, fruit cake, bit of spice, nougat and biscotti. The taste is dry, bitter, earthy, chewy, toothy, boozy, berry skin, cherry cola, peppery spice, brown bread, slightly burnt toast and some gets through the finish. Medium + body and fine, foamy carbonation. A bit chewy and toothy stuff. Fair enough.
3.2Cola color, tan head. Sweet, nutty, herbs, mint. Christmas spices, too, far too much nutmeg. Long spicy tail.
3.6On tap at the 11th Brugge beer Festival, Brugge, Belgium. A dark/amber coloured pour with a healthy beige head on top. Fruity, malty, caramel, spice aroma. Tastes fruity, malty, caramel, spice. Nice Belgian Christmas beer.
