2.9The beer has got a hazy ruby brown colour with a small head and medium body. Aroma of malt and resins. Taste of malt, fruits, prunes and bread. Malty sweet finish.
3.8Blueberry Quady Shorty👍..0,25l !? Flasche. Vor dem ARENDSNEST in Amsterdam.
2.7A slight, ruby-red beer with a firm, slightly brown layer of foam. It has a sweet aroma of dried fruits, nuts and alcohol. It taste too sweet, like putting a spoonful of sugar in your mouth. The alcohol is very present in the taste, and a sweet aftertaste remains.
3.8Bottle from Beerwulf online. Dark muggy Amber beer with small head. Aroma of malts, caramel and dried fruit. Taste is brown bread, malts, caramel, pepper and spice. Medium bodied. Very good.
5.0250ml dark bottle, unfiltered, from BeerWulf - my favourite online beer store. Oooooh - this is GOOD. Malty malty malty goodness. Deep, softy, downy oceans of malty goodness. Wrap yourself in it and sigh. If like me you love malty beers, you're going to LOVE this one. Oh my fucking God. This is heaven.
3.603-01-2018; bottle; at home (bought at beerwulf.com, #21 of their Christmas advent calendar).
The looks of the beer are nice. The beer has a nice amber/copper colour, somewhere in between it. There is some haziness. On top of the beer just a very slight layer of off-white foam is formed. Foam retention is little. Hardly anything is left.
The smell of the beer is fine. It isn't bad. Not to strong nor special, but not bad. There are some nice malty aromas. This gives a nice gentle smoothness. There are also some fruity notes. Alcohol is also clearly present. The hops give a spicy and slightly herbal aroma, going well with the full malts. Nice. In my opinion it is more a Barley Wine than a Belgian Strong Ale though...
The taste of the beer is also fine. It has a nice full sweetness from the malts. Alcohol also gives a rather sweet note. The hops give some bitterness. There is a slight touch of oak wood and vanilla...reminding me slightly of whiskey. Very nice. Full and slightly creamy yeast character. Nicely done.
The palate of the beer is also nice. Smooth texture, medium full body and low carbonation. The finish of the beer is average. A slightly sour yeast touch, some sweet malts and a herbal hop character. All in all, a nice beer, but it misses some power.
3.5Nutty and mouty; this barley wine is a warm welcome on a rainy day or winter evening. Nice color, love the small bitterness at the end
16/20
3.3Brown orange not quite clear pour with no head. Sweet caramel, brown sugar, barley malts and some sweet dried fruits for aroma. Same goes for the taste but sticky sweet. Toffee candies and nougat. Great full body, low in bubbles. Like it but to sweet for me.
3.6(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 27 July 2017) Dark amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with dried fruit, raisins, caramel and vinous aromas of alcohol. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried fruit, raisins, brown sugar, caramel and a mild spicy bitterness. Full body, quite sweet. Strong and vinous, but fairly well balanced, tasty and warming. Nice one.
3.528/VII/17 - 25cl bottle from a Jumbo supermarket @ holidays - BB: II/2019 (2017-1145)
Clear amber beer, small creamy off-white head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: sweet, malty, banana, some caramel, hint of vanilla, sugary. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: lots and lots of banana, sweet, bit sugary, some alcohol, quite some caramel. Aftertaste: sweet, dried fruits, caramel, ripe banana, fudge, more ripe banana. Pretty decent!
3.5Bottle - 250ml. Hazy copper body with a thin, white foamy head. Good malty/hoppy aroma with barley sugar hints. Its well balanced malty taste carries fruity, barley sugar, and woody notes. Ends with a long, warming bittersweet finish.
Lekker bier!
3.325cl bottle at home from Marianna as a gift, many thanks. Nose is dark fruits. Body is hazy copper, head is very small, beige, creamy, average lasting, good lacing. Aroma is honey, dark fruits, caramel, molasses. Medium to heavy sweet, light bitter, light fruity sour. Finish is medium lasting fruity medium sweet, light alcohol warmth. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Quite heavy, well balanced, not bad.
3.7Distinctive taste, smooth finish considering the relatively high alcohol percentage. Definitely worth a second try.
3.1Bottle from Mam and Dad’s holiday, Netherlands. Hazy amber with a very thin white head. It has a sweet toffee, currant and dried fruit flavour followed by warming sweet finish. Good.
2.8Strong 10% dark ale. Sweet barley wine taste. Too sweet for my palate. Ok in small quantities.
2.8Braun, trüb. Geruch Karamell und Essig. Im Geschmack alkoholisch und Karamell. Wenig bitter.
Geht stark in Richtung Likör.
3.2With an ABV of 10% one might expect a little more, but the overall taste is quite ok. Sweet, round, caramelly. Nice.
3.3Pours hazy brown with some yeasty flakes. No head. Malty aroma. Bit breadish, some porto as well. Bit toffee-like as well. Tastewise very sweet with a bitter and spicy oomph near the end. Some roasty tones that go well together with the toffeeish caramel... All is good, yet the alcohol kind of ruins it. It takes over pretty rude, erasing that nice, sweet and oomphy and spicy roasty caramel sweetness. Clear miss. Some more balance would have done far better. Bit light in texture and body as well. It is not bad, but it definitely has its clear misses.
3.4Bottle from Bert’s Bierhuis in Utrecht. The beer is amber/dark orange colored and has a stable broken white head, with enough carbonation.
The aroma is malty and fruity, with tones of dried fruits, raisins, caramel, roasted malts and candy sugar.
The taste is full bodied and sweet, with a slight bitterness. But a little chemical and too much sugar in the taste. Notes from the aroma are well noticable.
The finish is a little warming alcohol, sugar sweetness and a light bitterness which is long noticable.
