3.3 Wednesday, April 8, 2020. Bottle, 33cL. 8.5%. Purchase ("De Bierkoning", Amsterdam, NL). Home. A sparkling dark red mahogany clear beer with a medium white head ; medium retention ; good lacing ! Red berries+ (cherry), light vinegar, woody notes, funk rotten notes. Light to medium acid/sour, medium dry refreshing, light round gourmet sweet, cheerful. Medium rising body, thin sticky texture, average to soft gaseous, fruity round acid dry short finish. Overall, enjoyable, good. Cherry character was good but the story was short ; moreover, I would have liked more body or warming atmosphere.
3.8 Bottle Aroma-cherries Appearance-red, hazy, rose head Taste-medium sourness, light sweetness and bitterness Palate-medium body, sticky, lively carbonation, long finish Overall-very good
3.8 Bottle, gifted. Pinkish head with sticky lacing on top of an unclear ruby body. Nose and aroma's are sour cherry, 'poepegaatjes' and all other things cherry candy. Taste starts sour, not overly acid, finish more vinous and mellow. But still this packs a punch in every department. MF is slightly fizzy, bone dry tartness. No clue on the alcohol volume in the tasting, that's well subdued. A good De Leite creation
3.4 Bottle at Gist, Brussels. Pours amber color, white head. Aroma of cherries, honey. Taste is sour, lightly sweet, cherries, honey.
3.9 Draught at Pressklubben 2019-09-14 Göteborg AR:, sour dry tart wee cherries AP: hazy purple red, wee tiny pink lid F: sour tart vineager grainy kriek
3.6 Zapach - wiśnia, troszkę brettów. W smaku dość pestkowe, średnio kwaśne, wytrawne. Niezły kriek, choć nie najlepszy.
3.6 33cl bottle from Abeervinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours intense dark red with practically no foam. Aroma is intense of cherries, wood, Brett, a little acetic. Body is average with moderate carbonation. Little astringency. Taste is moderately sour, not pungent. Finish is average.
4.2 Bottle. Moderate hay and straw for the malt, light grass for the hops, light to moderate musty and dried leaves for the yeast, with berries, apple, damp wood, and a hint of vinegar in the background. Head is medium to large, frothy, off-white lavender, with fair lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is slightly hazy orangey-amber. Flavor starts moderately acidic and sour, then finishes moderately acidic, sour and faintly bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery, with a lively to fizzy carbonation and a tart finish. A great Wild Ale with a nice mix of fruity additions.
4.0 Clear, dark red colored, medium off white to pinkish head, nice lacing. Strong cherries, light funk, moderate cherry tartness, fruity, some oaky woody notes, dry finish, bit citric. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, oily. Very good.
4.0 Got this one part of LCBO 2018 Summer beer program, nice complex sour, you really taste the cherries and oak aged as a bonus = :)
4.4 KØLF 080319. red amber color with a pinkish head. Aroma is sourness, berries, cherries. Flavor is sourness, berries, cherries, vanilla, funk, wood. Wonderful beer.
3.7 Bottle. Ruby color, with a small pinkish head. Aroma is cherry, not too intense, but clearly real cherry. Taste is fruity, cherry, moderately sour and well balanced. Medium-high carbonation, dry finish. Refreshing. Maybe the best non-lambic cherry beer I had.
3.6 Bottle at Brian's Opaque red colour. Strong cherry character, moderately sour, with good body. Very good.
3.9 No bardzo ciekawe, nic podobnego jeszcze nie piłem. Nalewa się idealnie klarowne, ciemno-burgundowe, z lekko różową pianą. W aromacie przede wszystkim wiśnie, odrobinę wpływu beczki (głównie idąca niestety w nuty parkietowo-drewniane, a nie wanilię), dzikość, głównie stadninowo-sienna, taki aromat polskiej wsi.
3.4 330mL bottle, pours a deep dark red with a small white head. Aroma brings out balsamic vinegar, tart red fruits, and some earthy notes. Flavour is along the same lines, with earthy notes, tart red fruits, and a touch of balsamic. Earthy and pithy. Unusual, but fairly enjoyable.
3.3 330ml bottle at Brian's. Appearance: hazy purple with a white head Aroma: cherry with a cherry stone notes Taste: similar Overall: ok
3.4 Cloudy, pink. No head. There's a nice cherry character, wood, some pits. Mild tartness, quite spicy (clove, cinnamon), lots of cherry. Light body. Just a bit of yeastiness and acidity in the back, but again quite a bit of cherry all the way through.
3.8 On tap @Luppolo Station (Rome). Corpo medio-alto, carbonazione media. Lascia il segno.
4.0 330ml bottle served in a Duvel tulip glass. Pours a cloudy dark amber to purple color that forms a big creamy and soapy pinkish head with excellent retention the forms and leaves tons of soapy lingering lacings in the glass. Nose is sweet and very fruity. Strong notes of cherry. Notes of wood and sweet pale malts. Slightly sweet upfront taste. Strong notes of cherry, oak and sweet pale malts. Cherry candy. Light notes of grassy hops. In overall, a sweet but not overwhelming taste. Good sour-sweet balance. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Cherry syrup aftertaste. Very smooth mouthfeel. Not very sour. Great drinkability. Excellent Fruit/Sour beer.
3.8 Sample at Mechels Bierfestival 2018. Aroma of sweet tripel, berries, cherries. Poured pink'ish red with a small head. Start is sour, fruits, goes into more sweet. Lot's of carbo.
3.5 Bottle from LCBO. Pleasant cherry and spice aroma. Even more spice in the taste. Reminds me a little of both lips candy; sweet, candy cherry, cinnamon. The similarity breaks down in the finish, which is slightly tart. Good.
Droge afdronk. M: Medium body en stevige carbonatie.
4.5 Bottle at Get Well. Light cherry red with a finely bubbled head with lovely lacing. Big cherry and oak aromas. Taste is tart cherry, with lingering woodiness from the oak. Lovely.
3.8 330mL bottle from International Beer Collector 8.5%abv BB 25.09.2023 Fantastic colour - pours a dense pink-tinged head atop a clear crimson body. Punchy aroma packed full of cherry pits and old barrel (room), get notes of butter & vinous spice. Great length to it, doesn't really give away much of that big ABV; there's a counterbalance of malt richness against tartness & tannin of cherries & barrelly funk. Lovely fine creamy carbonation. A rather vinous affair on the body, sour cherry pit & stalk & all obviously, but there's hints of raspberry & plum there too, sort of Grenache-like, vibrant red fruits, then comes a sort of dank woodiness, old damp oak & aged butter & woody spice. Finish is well balanced though, with a woody tannin lingering and refreshing tartness. Very good Flemish red - superbly balanced yet tremendously complex.
4.2 Pours a hazy ruby-brown with zero head. Aroma is cherries and vanilla. Taste is slightly sweet, moderately sour. There are the obvious cherry notes along with vanilla and oak and a hint of herbs. Light bodied with plenty of carbonation. It drinks a lot like champagne and the flavours are surprisingly distinct. Very good!
3.9 Bottle - 330ml. Pours a cloudy ruby body with a thin, fading, white foamy head. Robust cherry aroma with malty, hoppy, oaky, and yeasty hints. Alcohol is subtle. Its sharp cherry taste mirrors the aroma. Long sour, moderately warming finish. Very enjoyable.
