3.6 33cl bottle 2013, fruit sweet aroma little alcoholic in taste sour. alcoholic aftertaste imo not completely saison
2.9 Muddy red-brown color. Sweetish (caramel) taste with bitterness in the background. It tastes a bit old which is not necessarily bad.
3.4 Clear dark copper, small off-white foam ring. Strong barley aroma, some hop, some yeast, some leaves. Strong barley taste, light bitter at starts, again some leaves. Lasting bitter aftertaste, dry. (Velp 201412)
3.7 Copper, long lasting head. Nose of spices, fruits, yeast, esters. Taste is more citric in the end, but estery and spicy. Not properly a saison, maybe more a tripel.
3.8 Excellent looking hazy dark amber with surprisingly long-lasting froth of tasty appearance. Barley-winish and smooth taste, with a bit of salty notes at the beggining, very pleasant. Citra and amarillo hops are composen in the well balanced matter. Alcohol is hidden nicely. Overall, a solid stuff from De Mollen.
2.3 ivorywhite head leaves little lacing. dark amber colour. aroma is cloying sweet, boozy, oxidized, barleywine-ish, lactic acid, green banana, glue. taste like aroma, sourish/yoghurt with a very wry and unpleasant aftertaste. medium body and carbonation. bottle 33cl
3.2 Draught at The Euston Tap, London on 13 Oct 2012. Poured a hazy amber, with a thin off white head. Aroma was slightly sour, with some cooked berries and big malt. Caramel and burnt sugar in the flavour, with some dry grain. Finish was tinned fruit, warming alcohol and flowery hop.
3.3 Bottle consumed at Un Bout Du Monde, Toulouse, Saturday 15th November 2014 Pours murky reddy/ambee with only a tiny rim if bubbles. Aroma fruity but also millpond. Taste is a little fuzzy hop but stewed slightly tart autumnal fruits. I get some cherry steeped in liquer. Soft but also thick mouthfeel, getting a littlw boozy cherry bakewell. A6 A3 T7 P4 Ov13 3.3
4.4 Beautiful amber-orange color with huge fluffy white head. Butterscotch, caramel, malty aroma paired with spicy yeasts and a bit of hops. Boozy taste of sweet buttery malts and caramel. Also some tartness coming through. A hint of apple most in the finish. Cannot imagine this being a Saison, but it is super-lecker. Very special though.
3.3 along with yves on modest beer festival taster amber colored body with a white head and a spicy yeast hops aroma a spicy yeast hop fruity sweet light sour bitter taste with a alcholic bitter finish
2.8 Shared with wim at bierfestival modeste 2014. Clear amber colored beer with small off-white head and no carbonation. Buttery hopped aroma. Medium sparkling palate. Finish is slightly sour bitter malty.
Super!
3.8 33cl bottle from Beer Store Barcelona. Pours amber with a creamy slightly off white head. Smells of sweet fruits (apples, banana, plums), light liquor and sour notes. Taste is slightly sour with bread, yeast and a light final bitterness.
2.9 330ml bottle (shared by FatPhil, thanks). Clear dark amber color. Medium size, thick white head, stays. Caramel, sharp malts, sweet aroma. Chocolate-vanilla ice-cream, massive sweetness and syrup in taste. Sweet mouthfeel. Quite high carbonation. Damn this beer is sweet!
3.7 In bottle (Amsterdam); very nice, I don’t usually like saisons but this was different ... notes of caramel, and hops. Quite sweet, with no bitter hoppiness finish. Quite a nice beer and I would buy again
2.7 330ml bottle (ALEhouse, Riga) Sweet sticky evaporated milk aroma, maybe come banana, but definitely lots of sugars. Taste half way between a saison and a doppel. Plus a ton of milkiness. Sweet, sticky, almost slick palate. Maybe they could have fermented this a little longer. Longer than the 5 days this got, at least. This is a total malt-bomb. Crazily sweet. Now I love malts, beer is a malt drink after all, but this is crazily over the top when it comes to the sweetness. Depending on my mood, this could get between 2.4 and 3.4. Does smother the alcohol, but hiding it behind sugar is not the answer. Could easily give an extra point in the obvious 4 categories.
3.3 Fles33cl. Kleur amber bruin. Vrijwel geen schuim. Geur veel hop en fruitig. Citrus/grapes Smaak: enorme mix aan smaak. Zoet zuur en bitter. Ik weet niet wat de overhand heeft. Scherpe nasmaak.
3.4 Pours a pale amber with two fingers of loose light tan head diminishing gradually to a thin cap, medium spotty lacing. Nose is citrusy and fruity hops, moderate caramel malt, slight peppery bite, some floral perfume. Taste is caramel malt, dark fruit, slightly sour yeasty bitterness. Medium to full body, soft carbonation, and a slightly sticky finish. I’m sorry, "saison"? What? Maybe, just maybe, you might call it an "Imperial Saison", if such a beast existed (does it?) but otherwise I’d have to say this isn’t a saison. On a blind test, I’m sure I’d call this an IIPA/DIPA. That’s not to say it’s not a fine brew - it is - but I really don’t see how it’s a saison. The Amarillo and Citra hops work well in the aroma, and the high ABV is very well integrated in the overall flavour.
3.7 Pours brown with no head and has fruity bitterness and caramel on the aftertaste, smooth and moreish. It has a good full- fat creamy body.
3.3 beige brown and no head... aroma has lots of caramel, some spices, some citric/passion fruit, sour mandarin? bitter and sweet, with a nasty grapefruit bitterness that lingers into the finish... a bit to sweet, lacks some malts maybe? ok
3.8 Dry-hopped beer with four hop varieties, intended as a strong saison. Yellowish white, rocky, stable head, colour a cloudy, coppery dark blonde. Strongly ’American’ hopped aroma with hints of pepper, orange, melon, strawberry and grapefruit peel; taste citrussy, fresh sourishness, bit of candi sugar (for a Belgian touch, I suppose), strong carbonation, honeyish malt sweetness beyond a strong, citrussy and herbal, long bitter hoppiness. Too hoppy for a real saison Belgian style, more a hybrid between a saison and an IPA.
3.8 strong taste of candy, yeast and fruity. Full bodied and quite alcoholic brew. Not my kind of beer, but really well done!
3.3 Bottle from Bierkompass! Pours hazy copper colored with a huge fine head. Smell has brown sugar, yeast and lots of caramel. Starts with a massive malt body, very sweet, sugary and caramelly. Finish is warming with sweet caramel and some brown sugar.
3.5 Hazy reddish brown with big foamy off-white head. Aromas of flowers, citrus and caramel. Taste medium sourness with bitter finish. Medium bodied, very full carbonation. Complex.
3.6 Bona cervesa, és bastant equilibrada i gustosa.
3.3 Shared a 33cl bottle. Pours an orangish yellow colour with a thin off-white head. Aroma is yeast, hoppy and caramel. Average carbonation and medium body. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter with an astringent finish. Overall, a nice balanced brew but with some strange notes.
Weird !
3.4 Bouteille d e33cl, bottled on 12/07/2012.
3.3 Murky red/brown with a thin off‐white head. Aroma of fruit, sherbet, caramel malt. Taste is sweet with light bitter finish. Oily texture, low carbonation. Good.
