This is a mad one. Black brown colour
with a thick and creamy tan head that
can be added to as you wish if you give
the bottle a swirl. Give this beer time
to breathe and blossom into something
truly stunning. Chocolate and
alcohol are right there at the front but
do not at all overpower the gorgeousness
that is underneath. Full of leather,
vanilla, amazing wooden notes, beautifully
floral character from the hops,
thick Belgian chocolate, much character.
The flavour of crazy wooden tartness.
An extremely bitter finish seems
to come out of nowhere and is what
really makes this quite unique. Superb
width in the mouth and coats the
whole palate beautifully.

This 330 ml bottle has been stashed for almost two years following our first trip to the Netherlands. I have added a couple of more De Molen brews since, time to tap into Heaven & Hell. My bottle indicates 11.9%, just saying. I’ve chosen my Cowtown snifter for this try, a heavy pour yields a jet black body but little in way of foam. A thin light brown rim around the glass. I lift for a smell, no wonder I held onto this, blackberry, tobacco, ash and red licorice. And a taste now, baking chocolate, charcoal, wheat bread, a touch of hard candy and a stern bitterness. Very mature, very straightforward. Again I like the whole package.

Black with a minimal light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, cocoa beans, and dried fruit. Sweet with a chocolate, dried fruit and coffee end.
Flasa. Cierna farba, husta hneda pena. Vona prazene slady, kava, kakao, slivky. Chut sladova, slivkovy dzem, prazene slady, kakao, kava. Plne telo, alkohol.
No head, some fizz, very chocolaty, and lovely taste. 12%. Bottled 8/3/18
Bouteille datée du 31/12/2014, bue après 4 ans. Robe bien noire et goudronneuse avec un mince col de mousse blanchâtre et laiteux. Les arômes sont dominés par le malt rôti , c'est sec et boisé mais plusieurs autres effluves se démarquent. Chocolat noir, anis, petit fruits rouges, amande avec pelure, cendre. Rien n'est trop intense, c'est doux et velouté. L'alcool est plutôt discret. En bouche, malt rôti, chocolat noir léger, un peu de café, bois sec. Comme au nez, c'est bien balancé et jamais trop intense. On sent un peu l'alcool mais plutôt sous son côté sec. Quelques saveurs caramélisées et cendrées, anis, arrière-goût de petits fruits brûlés et notes poivrées-sèches venant du houblon. Texture qui sans oser dire aqueuse, se veut très mince, corps moyen.
Fles uit 2016. Vol Roasty, choco & koffie, bitter roasty et een licht zoetje. Beetje wat donker fruit, vanille.... Vet lang roasty bitter. Zo goed!
Thuis uit een flesje. Prachtig zwart met goed bruin schuim. Aroma chocolade. In de smaak ook, maar ook heerlijke bitterheid van geroosterde koffie. Fles vermeld 12,9%. Heerlijk.
33 cl fles. EBC 494. IBU 97. 11,9 % op het etiket. Zwart bier met licht bruin/grijs schuim. Geur: donkere chocolade, vanille, geroosterde mout. Smaak: geroosterde mout, karamel, chocolade, koffie. Mooi in balans. Volmondig. Matige koolzuurprikkel. Afdronk: licht bitter, chocolade, koffie.

Dark color, middle foam size. Awesome beer, aroma and taste fit into the style.
Imperial stout with dark fruits, coffee and chocolate flavors. Overall good but nothing stands out in this beer. I wish it had more of a personality. I tried another beer from the same brewery Rasputin that was much better.
Sampled from a bottle this beer poured a black color with a huge fluffy brown head that lingered forever and left very good lacing. The aroma was roasty with chocolate syrup, cocoa, anise and strong floral & piney hops. The flavor was red wine, cocoa, anise and pine. Very long finish. Incredibly thick and full.
Color negro con capa de espuma marrón de tres dedos de grosor, cremosa y de buena retención. Carbonatación suave. Textura cremosa de inicio; luego más oleosa, con ligera cremosidad, y untuosa. Restos marrones de sedimento en el último tercio de la botella. Muy torrefacta tanto en aroma como en boca. Aroma a chocolate, café viejo y lejano, fruto seco lejano, melaza, ligera nota quemada o ahumada. En boca hay chocolate, café viejo y lejano, fruto seco lejano, melaza, misma nota quemada o ahumada, toque de ceniza al final del trago. Ligero dulzor. Ligero amargor al final del trago. Alcohol bien integrado. Algo de ceniza en regusto y postgusto. Me pareció algo intrascendente de inicio, pero el paladar va abriéndose.
Dik! Bitter! Aardse tonen, lekker! Echt een mooie alcoholische Stout en een mooie afwisseling met zijn bitterheid!

Taster from bottle, courtesy of Sander, many thanks! Pours a very dark red-brown with a red-brown head. The aroma is full of roasted malt - dark fruits, dark chocolate, toffee, nuts, soy sauce, wood, hints of smoke and vanilla.
Full body with hardly any carbonation, a light to medium sweetness, a medium bitterness and a light roasty acidity. The flavor is similar to the smell and full of roasted malt, dark fruits, dark chocolate, soy sauce, lots of burnt wood, ash and earthy notes. Finishes with a distinct roasty bitterness. Rather harsh with too much bitterness in the finish, unbalanced.

Butelkowane 03.12.15. Kolor piwa ciemnobrunatny, nalewa się z ładną, drobną, pianą. Aromat to karmel, likier czekoladowy, ciemny owoc (wiśnia) oraz palone słody. W smaku likier czekoladowy, kakao, kawa zbożowa, w tle nuta ciemnych owoców. Paloność na średnim poziomie, wspólnie z chmielem dają trwający goryczkowy posmak. Piwo nie jest bardzo pełne, ale ma gładką fakturę, alkohol wyczuwalny jest tylko w postaci ww. likieru czekoladowego. Kolejny bardzo przyzwoity imperialny stout od De Molena.
W aromacie troche alkoholu, kawa, czekolada deserowa, orzechy. Smak: Bardzo mocna kawa, wytrawne, dobre wysycenie, calkiem wporzadku ris.
Extreme chocolate and cocoa aroma. Pitch black color with minimal sized creamy brown head. Bitter chocolate, cocoa and earthy taste. Full body, soft carbonation, creamy. Excellent.
Uiterlijk: Dikke lobbige rakker met een beetje bruin schuim.

Puur zwart met fijne mokkakleurige schuimkraag. Chocolade, koffie, (hazel)noot, toffee, hint leer en tabak. Fluweelzacht van smaak voor een bier van dit abv. Mooie lange bitter in de afdronk. Perfecte balans. Topwerk.
Black beer with a very small brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and coffee. Taste starts sweet roasted malts, chocolate, bit of coffee and a little bit of vanilla leading to a pretty heavy bitter chocolate dry finish. The hops kick in at the end. Very good stout.
On tap at Fakin Zagreb. Pitch black coloured, medium sized creamy beige head, chocolate, cocoa power and alcohol in the nose. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, cocoa, light coffee and noticable alcohol with rather roasty finish. Well done.
Tap at Fakin. Almost black body, tan head. Long, dryish aroma, malty, mostly notes of cocoa. Excellent, balance taste, cocoa, toastiness, light coffee, even slightly strangely juicy in the finish, clean and moreish. By all means a world class RIS!
Bottled Dec 2014. Black pour with a thin, quickly fading tan head. A lot of cocoa on the nose, coffee, roasty, burnt toffee aromas. Taste is coffee, dark chocolate, sweetish up front, a little booze at the back and bitter cocoa and coffee. Excellent
Bardzo wytrawny, ciężki, bezkompromisowy stout. W aromacie na pierwszym miejscu gorzka czekolada, po ogrzaniu wychodzą wędzone śliwki i rodzynki, daktyle, kawa, odrobina alkoholu i żytni chleb. W smaku głównie kawa najwyższej jakości, tęga, ale niezbyt kwaśna; mocna, nieco ściągająca, palona goryczka; beczka; tytoń; i bardzo, bardzo gorzka czekolada. Piwo jest może i nieco zbyt jednowymiarowe w kierunku paloności, ale i tak rewelacja.
