3.1Bottle thanks to jackl. It pours hazy golden-orange with a small white head. The nose is orange, white sugar, toast, brown bread, wood and a touch of spice. The taste is earth, toast, sweet dough, soft fruit, citric, chalk, wood and light spice with a dry, somewhat citric finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Ok, but really nothing that special.
3.5Aroma: Bit sour, malt, hint of carmel, yeast Appearance: Amber gold, white head full lace, Taste: Bit tropic fruit at inhale, roast, bitter dry finish that stays long
3.8Bottle, may 10th 2013. Dark orange body, medium white head. Aroma of yeast, caramel, peach and pears. Fruity taste, very hoppy, with peppery tones from the yeast. This works very well. Lasting pepper and orange taste, an interesting take on a saison.
2.408.06.2013, 0,33l bottle sampled @ BBGTC tasting:
Small creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is fruity and slightly sour, sour berries, yeast, grapefruit, dried fruits, hay, citrus peel, grass. Taste is slightly harsh yeasty, grass, hay, yeast, citrus peel, light malts, hint of dried fruits. Medium bitterness, a little watery mouthfeel. Probably way over the top.
3.1bottle at home.
pours lighter orange, good white foam. big hoppy smell , though this is almost 1,5 year old...
bitter as well, i do get the saison-ish parts, but way less than ’ feared’
to high carbo ( sigh )
realy dry ( sugary ) taste, grains, saison-yeast
old plants is what comes to mind .. an almost ’rotting , vegetable kinda thing) . and believe me , comming from an extremely anti-vegetable, saison hating guy, it does sound far worse than it actualy is.
it pretty drinkable, but not by far something i’d go crazy over...
3.4Somewhat hazy orange golden colour, firm cream head. Aroma of hay, pineapple, malts, white pepper, grapefruit peel, woodruff and herbs. Malty flavour, fresh, light sour, wood, light bitter. Yeasty finish, wood, light astringent, quite dry. Lots of yeast, light subdued banana, bit medicinal.
Quite OK.
(From 33cL bottle @ home. Thanks to my secret sinterklaas)
3.633 cl bottle from the brewery outlet enjoyed at home. Pours a misty sparkling orange body with a huge beige head that lingers and leaves excellent lacing as it finally diminishes. Orange zest notes give way to more yeasty notes of a summer warm old wooden cupboard on the nose. Crisp and spicy, acidic even, followed by a heavy but refreshing bitterness. Full bodied. Heavy carbonation. The orange zest fumes from the fresh pours stand out as a dominant character in the aftertaste.
3.3Draft at Novare. Pours a light golden color with a finger of fizzy foam. The nose is grassy with touches of earthy yeast and spice. The palate is clean but overly bitter for a saison. Nice light body with good estery fruit and rustic yeast but and overly bitter almost astringent mid to late palate sucks all the softness out of the beer.
4.1Bottle @ home. Dark orange colour with a full white head. Smells hops, fruity, grapefruit, fresh, malts. Tastes very hoppy, fruity, grapefruit, pineapple, citrus, fresh, bitter. Medium body, great carbo.
3.6Bottle @ Drie Dorstige Herten. Slightly hazy orange colour, off-white head. Nose is caramel, hoppy, a bit grassy, dog food grainyness. Flavour is lgiht malty, bit of caramel, grassy. Light yeasty. Well balanced.
3.6Bottle @ Carlsens Kvarter. Clear amber body with a medium white head. Aroma is perfume, yeast, fruit. Flavour is fruit, sweet, yeast, light hoppy.
3.5Jan 2013 - slightly cold bottle. Not much head surprisingly. The typical rich pungent caramel flavour associated with De Molen beers. Tangerine as well. A bit sharp. Frothy in the mouth. Overall, this is not bad but the sharpness lets it down.
3.8Bottled, 1 year after bottling. Clear golden to amber color, medium off-white head. Aroma has some caramel malt, bit fruitiness from the hop and lots of spicyness from the yeast. Slight hint of pineapple. Piney and fruity bitterness together with some maltiness in taste. Quite dry, but the fruity bitterness and some caramel still give a slight sweet sensation. Complex. Good stuff.
3.0Pours light orange, very hazy with a big white foam head.
It is a wheat beer with huge amounts of hop.
Hop flavours are melted with wheat aromas but reductive, rubber-like and phenolic off flavours are not very pleasant.
The overall sensation is a "could be very nice" beer but "something wrong" brew finally.
3.5Bottle from realale.com shop on Richmond Road, Twickenham. A golden/amber coloured pour with a healthy white head on top. Fruity, malty, yeasty aroma. Tastes similar, fruity, malty, yeasty, slightly sweet, dry ending. Decent Saison.
3.3330ml bottle from Appellation Wines. Reddish amber brown colour, big foamy head. Flowery resin grain malt aroma. Rresin oaty malt flavour. Quite smooth. I don’t normally like this type of beer but this one is quite good.
3.4Bottle. Pours amber with a white head. Aroma is red fruit, citrus and some barnyard. Flavour is malt and fruity with a nice bitter finish and some funkiness. Not your typical saison but not a bad interpretation.
3.4Bottle form Haumanns, Aarhus. Hazy orange with a big and lasting off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, fruity, yeasty and moderate hoppy. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish. 280113
4.1Pours cloudy, lots of light-colored particles in suspension. Lacy white head quickly dissipates. Amber color. Aroma is hops, nectarines, very rich. Medium body, sweet but not sticky. Both sweet and hoppy/bitter, finish is warming. Excellent saison.
3.3Aroma is fresh, fruity, and crisp. Buttery deep amber in color. Taste of fruits on the tongue too, fairly hoppy but not too bitter.
2.7Bottle 0.33l at home. Colour is orange with small white head. Aromas and flavours are fruits, grape, sourness and yeast.
3.8An orange-brown beer with a thick, big and beige head. Aroma is frutifull, some tropical fruits, mangos, fructose and spices, enjoyable. Taste of some fruits, not much sweetness, dry malts, grapefruits, some sourness and drying spices. Aftertaste is dry and slightly herbal. Medium bodied, lots of carbonation, still smooth, drinkable even high alc.%. Nice, complex and dry beer, more freshness would be nice but anyway, good beer.
3.8Bottle:
Very big vast thicker and slow disappearing off white head on top of a hazy amber colored beer.
Smell lots of yeast (reminds me a bit of brett) and some peach, apricot, dust, hint of wood, forest herbs and sharp tones of puke and sours and some floral grains.
Taste lots of yeast and many bitters with floral tones, malts, grains, floral bitters, some hints of fruits and some sharp tones but pushed down which makes it more easy drinkable.
Aftertaste is also yeasty with some bitters, warmth, fruit tints, just a lot of yeast.
Low carbo, creamy foamy mouthfeel, more than a medium body and a creamy texture.
Damn, a Saison, a yeasty Saison, logic, but it has litterally loads of yeast. Still a good Saison!
3.5Pours cloudy orange. Aroma of light barnyard hops and some funky malt. Taste is bitter and a little boozy. Medium carbonation. Pretty good for style. Bottle at volos.
3.6Bottle. Creamy off-white excellent fully lasting head. Orange colour. Moderate malty and hoppy and yeasty aroma. Moderate bitter flavor. Fruity esters and nice pepper notes. Long moderate bitter finish. Creamy palate. Nice.
3.00,3 liter fles @home. Goed bier met te veel schuim. Wel een speciale smaak.
