4.1Bottle at home. Very flat and smooth, strong whisky on the nose. Sweet, chocolate, whisky taste.
3.9Bottle - Vintage 2012 - Smoke and boozy barrel notes. Jet maroon with no head. Wood, smoke, barrel notes and some sweetness. Nice, but a bit of heat.
4.1Bottle, bought from Bierkompass in March 2013.
Black with a minimal head. Vinous with roasted malt, coffee, light smoke, oak, some bourbon. Almost no carbonation and with a full body. The finish was long, fairly bitter and with warming alcohol. A nice one to sip.
4.8Excellent beer. Complex aroma of liqurice, chocolate, peat and hinys of coffee. A little sweet but besides from that excellent.
4.1My Dutch beer rating # 50, so a De Molen beer should be suitable. Pitch black with a thin tanned head. Roasted aroma with barrel, fruits, soy sauce, coffee, caramel, chocolate and a smoked-peat note. Lots of "sweet barrel" in this one. Taste is light sweet-roasted. Full body with an oily texture and a flat carbonation. Long lasting roasted finish with barrel, fruits, soy sauce and smoke. Lingering barrel. Excellent Stout with lots of good barrel in it.
4.0Bottled. Pours pitch black with a small, lacing tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, bourbon, woood, coffee and bitter chocolate. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry and with alcohol. Medium to full bodied, creamy texture and soft carbonation. An excellent Impy.
3.5Bottled. A Black beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, alcohol, and Bourbon. The flavor is sweet with notes of Bourbon, alcohol, and roasted malt, leading to a dry alcoholic finish.
3.7Bottle@Papsoes - black pour with beige head. Roasted malty aroma and taste, chocolate, caramel, treacle, nice bourbon wooden tinged notes on palate. Very nice.
3.7Bottle 33 cl. Pours an opaque black with absolutely no head. Sweet, lovely whisky and wood aroma - amazing really. Very rich body, totally flat though. Heavy roast, quite ashy and a little peaty (?) - but again lovely wood accents. Roasty bitterness. Rough but enjoyable. 130914
4.033cl. Bottle.
Pours black with tiny tan head.
Aroma cherry, dark red fruits, bourbon, vanilla, roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, smoke.
Taste heavy vanilla sweet, some coffee bitters.
Mouthfeel oily, thick.
Great imperial stout.
3.7Bottle thanks to MrHangover! Pours opaque black , not much head, not much lacing. Aroma is strong roasted malts, a bit of peat, bourbon, cocoa powder. Flavor is medium sweet, medium bitter, some prune along with all the stuff noted in the aroma. Medium plus body.
3.7Bottle from bytemesis. Black color, not a lot of head. Cherry bourbon, Some fruity and soy sauce aromas, or so my brethren say. Very strong flavor, bitter, cherry, dries the month. A little harsh. Hmmm.
4.0330 ml bottle at home. Black with small beige head. Aroma is malty, with some caramel, dark chocolate and dark fruits, some coffee, wood and whiskey, smoke-peat and alcohol. Taste is malty sweet. Chocolate, bourbon whiskey, port wine, vanilla. Medium body with oily feel, flat carbonation and light bitter and alcoholic finish.
4.4Black color with dark rubine reflex one the boards of glass, whisky, and wood aroma, great taste! sweet, whisy, smoke, wood, not excessive roasted aftertaste, licorice, consistent body and null carbonation... On the top of Imperial Stout i’ve ever drunk (Emelisse, Emelisse Wild Turkey, black damnation III, brooklyn, Trabaoudor...)
4.2Bottle... This beer rocks!… Tar black pour with a small, creamy, beige head. Good retention. The aromatics are of chocolate and toasted nuts mingled with loads of vanilla wonderfulness. Medium to full-bodied with modest carbonation. The Flavor is a blend of sweet fudge, chocolate and vanilla accompanied by a generous ration of fruity liquor. Finishes bittersweet and quite warming. Kudos to ctipping for sharing this world class bottle of beer!
3.5Bottle at home. It pours opaque black with a small, bubbly tan head. The nose is rich roast, chocolate cake, vanilla, marshmallow, light smoke, coffee, earth and just a hint of whisky. The taste is rich, roasted malt, some acidity, coffee, booze, chocolate, orange peel, candied fruits, fruit cake, some bitterness, toffee and light smoke with a lingering rich roasty finish. Full body, low carbonation and viscous mouth-feel. A touch flat unfortunately... Smells rather nice indeed. Decent, but could have been lifted with more carbonation.
2.9Bottle courtesy of Mr. Hangover poured into FFF teku glass. Dark cola, very little head. Aroma is wood, soy sauce, orangy cognac, and vanilla. Taste is orange peel, barrel, smoke, hot booze. Not what I was expecting. Medium body and syrupy. I poured half down the drain.
3.2> A flat, thinner, tart dessert sweet stout

>> Pours clear deep ruby black with no foam/head formation. Nose is sweet brown alcohol barrel. Some really nice bourbon and vanilla at first, but it quickly dissipates leaving very little besides orange juice and mild cognac. Taste is sweeter, thin, acidic, orange juice/cognac. But overall pretty weak sauce withouth the dextrin and carbonation and bitterness to really make this a true stout. Finish is slightly woody and acidic, very thin from lack of carbonation and lemon tangy. Disappointing.
4.6Wow! A very rich and amazing beer. Bottle at home. First smell is intense. Lots of dark stoutish tones like coffee, roadted malts & dark chocolate, it is more bitter than average. It has bourbon & vanilla, little booze. One of the best beers from brouwerij de molen i have tasted so far.

4.0Botella de 33 cl. Bar casa beni. 13-12-13 Aromas torrefactos algo dulces predominando olores de licor. Sabores tostados y madera quemado intenso.
4.0Pours a pitch black beer with almost no head. Smells coffee, roasted, bourbon and alcohol. Tastes coffee, chocolate, roasted and little bit alcohol. Starts sweet with a good bitter finish. Low carbo, medium body and a oily and dry texture.
4.4This is De Molen on the top of their game. A rich, complex and intense beer. Full of flavours, including coffee, dark cacao, vanilla, smoke, bourbon and I think some subtle dark fruits. Very good.
3.9Bottle bought @ bierkompass.de. Pours viscous black with no head worth mentioning. Smell is malty and tannic with roasted malts, high quality dark chocolate, smoke, charred wood, vanilla fudge, toffee, caramel, hay, sweet soy sauce, slightly acetic coffee, bourbon, tingling alcohol and port wine. Taste is slightly sweet, slightly bitter, tiny sour, malty and tannic with roasted malts, brown sugar sweetened dark roast coffee, high quality dark chocolate, roasted malts, bourbon, smoked meats, sweet soy sauce, caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, roasted coconut, charred wood, moist soil, hay and burning alcohol. Mouthfeel is flat, round, velvety, boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet, bitter, malty and tannic with roasted malts, caramel, bourbon, acetic dark roast coffee, cocoa powder, soy sauce, hay, vanilla fudge and charred wood. Very nice but some carbonation would have been nice...
4.2having this one right now for my 400th rating. poured completely black with no head. what a great smell! a ton of chocolate, espresso, oak, vanilla, whisky, bourbon, caramel, roasted malts, no carbonation but this tasted so smooth! one of the best BA molen beers i’ve had so far!!
4.133cl bottle from Kamiel. Black with a ruby hue. A nice blend of bourbon, oak, vanilla, bit of whiskey with a fair amount of peat, lots of chocolate semi-roasted malt, and for the second beer in a row a nice alcohol burn in the nasal cavities. Full body, mild carbonation, greatly benefits from both warming up and being airing out in a glass, bit of sweetness but then becomes bitter and boozy. Can’t believe how well this melds together and becomes pretty darn delicious. Interesting because this is one of the few beers where the palate blows me away and yet the test doesn’t quite measure up - still worth trying for sure.
4.4330 ml bottle at home. Pours dark brown with a small bubbly marroon beige head. Fruity aroma - lots of forest fruits, hints of vanilla, slight alcohol burn but beatiful whisky/bourbon notes as well - and a good dose of bittersweet chocolate. All perfectly in balance. Medium body, no carbonation sweet and roasty palate until the end... and then bam aftertaste like a baws: medium bitterness with pure coffee flavours. This beer reminds me a lot of the Original H&V!
3.9Fasslagerung (whiskey/bourbon) im aroma gut erkennbar. Keine kohlensäure und schaum. Leichte schokoladennote im antrunk. Nachklang relativ stark alkoholisch.
3.5Bottle 33 cl at Gothenburg Beer Festival 2013 (Haket), Sunday, sampled on September 8, 2013. Marked 11.9%, bottled Aug 28, 2012.
Black color, small brown head. Sweet, malty, roasted, alcohol scent. Sweet, alcohol, malty taste. Alcohol aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bitterness.
4.0Bottle @home. Pours very dark black , deep black. Sweet chocolate, strong with a whisky nose and slight burn very nice. For such a strong beer it is v.easy to drink.
