3.6 Amber orange looks with massive bubbly head, which stays nicely. Leaves lots of lacing to the glass. Aroma is on the sweet side with fruits, caramel and malts. Hops are quite hidden underneath. Then taste offers malty full flavors, mainly caramel, spices raisins or plums and in the end there is a very smallish bitterness for an DIPA. Soft and full texture and medium-to-low carbonation. Malty and sweet DIPA without raging hops.
3.6 0,33L, bottled on 06.02.2013. Pours clear copper with huge white head. The head stays. Aroma citrus, grass, pine, and tart. Taste is caramel, fruits, raisins, resin, watery. Finish is bitter and caramel and some alcohol burn. Overall: nice dipa, ABV rather well hidden, not very bitter or sweet, but somewhat watery.
3.2 330 ml bottle bought at Craftissmo in Tsim Sha Tsui East. Cloudy hazy honey amber colour with bits of dirt-like yeast sediments; Half finger head and soapy off white foam which fades in 30 seconds; Small sticky lacing with near zero carbonation; Fragrant aroma of rich raisins and plum, with sweet ale malt, thick honey, light floral spices, lemon and strong grass; Sweet taste and rich ale malt, with strong dark fruits, shades of grapefruit, pretty strong alcohol, light biscuits, earth, cinnamon, spices, light yeast, liquorices, bitter lime and grassy hops; Mid to full body, slightly slick palate; Mouthfeel is wholesome, strong rich and sweet IPA with very strong dark fruits, nice sweet booze, very earthy and spicy Saaz and rye, yet somehow the yeast taste isn’t big at all. Pretty good so far… Hoppiness is very earthy, cinnamon, spicy and grassy in aroma and taste. Liquorices is moderate with a highly astringent and lasting mid-bitter finish; Quite dry after taste. Sweet, spicy and astringent to mouth. Comments: This one tends to be a bit single-minded with lots of Saaz spicyness, top yeast’s dark fruits, and big sweet booziness. However, rye is a bit short, head is small, not all that smoothy, taste varieties is limited. Certainly decent but a bit monotone, De Molen’s Amarillo is a more exciting alternative.
3.6 Like a double sorry IPA from yoho. Mixture of Belgian wit and IPA but more the former. Great aroma - wheat, citrus, sweet pear. Bitter Belgian taste gives way to slightly fruity flavor. Too bitter and Belgian-y for me. Nice aroma and appearance and not bad overall.
Heerlijke dipa
3.9 These de Molen guys know their stuff. Great amber colour, lovely fruity aromas with some spice thrown in. Rich palate, bitter sweet. Dangerously drinkable at 10.2 %. Gotta visit this brewery !
4.0 Brown bodied and stable head. Dark fruit, resin, caramel, heavy hops. I don’t know premiant hops at all, but this is delicious. Clean enough start, fruity from the malts and not the yeast. Very juicy aftertaste. Great stuff, even with my high expectations. The name perhaps suggests a quite different beer (spices, chocolate malts, residual sugars) but I’d happily drink this on a stormy night. Certainly warming enough at plus 10 percent ! (33cl bottle from Saveur Bière)
3.9 On tap @De Molen after Borefts. Nice malty TIPA. Hoppy and fruity, yet with a body of breadlike smoothness.
3.2 Bottle. Hazy copper color with a medium thin off-white head. Aroma of vanilla, caramel, spruce and honey. Some bitterness & sweetness in taste. A bit sour finish. Flavors are bread and baking yeast. Medium body. The alcohol is totally hidden here.
3.3 Hazy orange body, white head. Aroma has lots on sweet malt, slick starnge fruitiness. Something like soap and artificial fruit. Flavour is quite intense. Some light fruitiness and alcohol. Not my favourite treat.
3.9 Draught at De Molen. Hazy brown with a medium beige head. Medium body with soft carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. Sweet and hoppy. Fruits, spices, flowers and some caramel. A well crafted double IPA.
3.6 10,2 % versio. Suutuntuma on yllättävänkin mieto näin vahvaksi olueksi, alkoholi tuntuu hieman lämmittävyydellään, vaikkei kovin maistukaan. Humalointi on tasainen, mutta miedohko (ainakin DIPAksi). Erilainen DIPA, jossa on kyllä karamellia, muttei liikaa ja humalaa melko maltillisesti. Onkohan tähän käytetty belgihiivaa, kun sellainen tuntuma on koko ajan läsnä?
3.6 0,75 l bottle, courtesy of Balazs, thanks! Btw, from DeMolen beer shop. Hazy-murky, deep golden appearance with a medium creamy offwhite tan head. Aroma of honey, grape, pine, fruits- moderated hops. The beer is on the sweet side but balanced, creamy mouthfeel, hops arrive in the second half of the slip woth grape, moderated pine.
3.3 On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear orangish gold with a near white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has notes of grass and a hint of grapefruit with a strong sweet grain backbone. Flavor starts with musty grass and a good amount of sweet grains with a hint of resin in the finish.
3.5 Tastes like a DIPA + a Wit bier. Like a double Sorry Yo-Ho. Nose of pear, orange, hops, cloves, mild tobacco and leather. Tastes less interesting than it smells, but still a nice fruit + spice flavour. Very drinkable texture, dry with a bit of oiliness.
2.9 Small bottle. Dark orange IPA body with a medium head. Aroma has fruity hops and some Saaz. I think Saaz does not work well in an ale. Taste has mild hops and some light soapiness. Not bitter enough. It shouldn’t be in the DIPA category as even the brewer calls it "Double ipa-ISH". Finish has more soap. Yet another soapy mess from this brewery. All 4 beers from De Molen that I have tasted have been somewhat disappointing to me.
3.6 Hazy orange, off-white head that quickly diminishes. Nose has spicy notes, bready malt, fruit, perfume hints, caramel. Taste is pretty much the same, but with more pronounced bready malt. Piney hoppy bitterness and yeast, plus some warming booze in the finish. Medium body, smooth carbonation, oily texture. Nice and smooth, easy to drink.
3.6 Had this at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, Netherlands, Sunday 29th September 2013 Pours hazy amber with white head. Little cheesey on nose, in fact it’s a great nose. Citrus, with a heavy vein of sweetness, I like this. A6 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 3.6
3.8 Pours amber Small white head Smells sweet heavy malts Taste is buttery , thick , sweet . Nice
3.5 Buddel: Amber, cloudy, medium sized and pretty stable off-white head, sweet dark-malty and solid medical, a bit cough-syrup-like, aromas in the nose; solid sweet-bitter flavour, medium to full bodied; lingering dry bitter-hoppy finish with fruity-malty traces underneath. Really good, but not really moreish…
3.5 330ml bottle. Hazy brown color. Medium size, off-white, thick head, stays. Hops, sweet, caramel, mild roast in aroma. Sweet, toffee, malty, hops in flavor. Alcohol is well hidden.
3.3 Bottle from trade with Douberd, many thanks. Pours golden color, white head. Aroma is hoppy, grapefruit, orange zest, hints of grapes. Taste is hoppy, medium sweet, something artificial like detergent. Bitter finish.
3.8 How: Draught. Where: Proeflokaal Arendsnest, Amsterdam. Appearance: Dark amber colour with a big white head. Aroma: Fruit, hops, malt. Body: Full bodied with a good carbonation. Flavour: Citrus, fruit, yeast, spices, hops, malt.
3.6 Bottle from drink shop, tallinn. Hazy deep amber red color, white head. Aroma is malts and hops, bread. Malty body, hops comes at the end, little smoky and roasty. Nothing special but decent.
3.6 Draught. Pours hazy copper with an off-white head. Aroma is citrus, pine, soapy, floral and grass. Little caramel/toffee. Taste is medium sweet and heavy bitterness. Some alcohol aswell. Full bodied with soft carbonation.
2.2 A vibrant hazy orange with medium off white head. Aroma sugary citrus, wheat. Medium body. Not too much alcohol. I did not really like the flavor of this at all. Tastes like chalky lemonade. Overly sweet. Hardly any hops. Seemed promising but hard to finish.
3.7 aroma is lightly sweet malts, fruits and a hint of citrus. cloudy orange beer with a nice firm slightly off white head. taste is heavy sweetness when warm, medium-heavy bitterness. at the end. full body, creamy, thick feel, soft carbonation, finish is fairly long with some sweetness.
3.7 Bottle. Big potent sweet malty, apples, pears, and pure hop aromas. Pours very hazy orange with floaters and lace after a big off white. Flavors are less sweet and boozy than the aroma would suggest and much more grassy bitter and woody. The feel is very alive, thick, then ends woody boozy and heavy. Really interesting and perfectly Belgian and an IIPA at the same time.
3.3 Bottle from Bierzwerg! Pours beautiful copper colored with creamy off-white head. Smells hoppy with some tropical fruits and lots of sweet caramel malts as well as some brown sugar. Starts with lots of pine woods, hay and spruce, paired with some slight tropical fruits. The middle part has lots of caramel malts and massive aromas of hay and grass. Goes into a long caramelly and hoppy-grassy, slight herbal finish with some tropical fruit.
3.1 Poured a slightly cloudy golden with no head. Aroma of light hops and sweet caramel malt. Medium body, flavour of pine and sweet orange with a bitter sweet finish.
