4.1 Bottle shared by Sabine, cheers! BBA barley wine with very loosely structured, coarse head consisting of irregular yellowish light beige bubbles, quickly dissolving to practically nothing; deep, warm mahogany brown colour with wine red hue and yellowish light brown edges. Strong, perfumey bouquet of old madera, sweet sherry and white port, next to candied cherry, chestnut, old furniture, vanilla tannins, ripe banana, caramelized sugar, honey and, of course, sweet bourbon. Intense candied cherry-, fig, white raisin, banana and ’praline’-like sweetness in onset balanced by a soft basic sourishness, some umami accents here and there; thick and vinous, oily body with expectedly very soft (to almost flat) carbo, but in this case not really impairing drinkability. Middle phase is thick honeyish and caramelly sweetness with a bittering toasted edge in the end, cleverly enhanced by the drying, oaky vanilla tannin-rich woodiness and a long lasting, but never astringent, liqueurish alcohol warmth. English style barley wine on a high level, I can imagine this perhaps being overly sweet to some, but the drying bourbon barrel wood makes for sufficient balance, at least to my personal taste. Very enjoyable and rich, slow winter sipper.
4.4 Robe brune, reflets ambrés, mousse fine, peu abondante.
4.1 0,18l bottle from Bierkoning, bottled 2012. Pours clear deep amber with no head. Aroma is sweet nutty malts and alcohol. Flavor is very sweet malts, nuts, caramel and alcohol. Quite sublime.
Thanks @Douberd

3.9 Backlog rating. Bottle via Etre. It pours a cloudy copper / mahogany color with minimal beige head. Aroma is sweet boozy and rich of dark chocolate, orange marmalade, molasses, dates and syrup. Taste is more sweet syrupy and boozy, with apricot and orange marmalade, vanilla, chocolate and licorice. Sticky oily body with soft carbonation (thank G). Overall, a sipper
3.7 Bottle at tderoeck's place. Bourbon, but more of the cheap kind, vanilla, alcoholic. Nice but nothing special.
4.2 Full on dirty brown murk, odd bubbly head and weird spirity lacing. Nose is full on; burn coconut, varnish, wood, cherry and an affront to any malt with an effortless sweetness. Initial taste isn’t far off, balances things out with plucks of malt, caramel, wafts of vanilla and a dusting of spiciness. Drips of lemon, cola and then the booziness rears itself. Carbonation isn’t too soft, engaging mouthfeel and spicy enough for the linger. Finishes creamy, soft berry and molten malt. Linger is a covered thick with this sweetness and peppery, dry boozy linger. Bottle, Garvie?, Decantillon Tasting

4.4 Old rating rerated 09.07.2015, old & new batch @ home: Old - 0,18l bottle (219/1722): Tiny bubbly shortlasting head. Aroma is mild and balanced, dark sugar, burnt caramel, oak, grass, dark malts, raisins, nuts, minerals, coffee, toffee, hints og old hops and citrus peel. Taste is slightly sweet and well balanced, dark sugar, grass, raisins, oak, toffee, minerals, burnt caramel, nuts, dark malts, old hops, citrus peel, hints of butterscotch. Medium bitterness, slightly syrupy mouthfeel. Very nice, but it may have been just a little bit better @ Kulminator before Toer de Geuze 2 years ago... New - 0,33l bottle: 7-4-8-4-15=3,8 Small slightly bubbly mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly rich and dry, oak, bourbon, burnt caramel, dark malts, grass, minerals, coffee, dried dark fruits, hops, dark sugar, hints of citrus peel. Taste is slightly rich, oak, dried dark fruits, bourbon, grass, burnt caramel, dark malts, hops, minerals, toffee, citrus peel, dark sugar, coffee. Medium to longlasting bitterness, slightly dry and syrupy mouthfeel. Nice, but it feels a little too fresh and unbalanced. The old batch is (and was even several years ago) a lot better. So I guess I’ll age the rest of the bottles for at least a few years ’till next time...
3.5 A strange Barley Wine indeed. Cloying sweet but rich. Had aromas of toffee, nuts and chocolate. It had also aromas of soya sauce, bbq sauce and cabbage. Taste was more appealing although difficult to drink and I had it on a very hot day....
3.8 Pours a brown-black with no head. Aroma is caramel, bourbon and slight vanilla. Taste is caramel, toffee, vanilla. Full bodied and rich.
5.0 33cl bottle served in a snifter. Pours deep brown garnet with a dark tan head which almost immediately disappears. Aroma is astonishingly decadent with booze, vanilla, oak, buttercream, toffee, Christmas cake and of course bourbon. Taste is exactly as expected however, the extreme sweetness overpowers any bitterness that may try and get a look in. Yes it is boozy but you would not guess the ABV. I have never tried a beer this good which still has so much aging possibilities. I can only imagine what this would taste like in a few years time (BB Date 2039).
4.3 33cl bottle at home, new batch. poured a cola brown colour with a small off oily ring on top.sweet sticky bourbon hits your face, sweet barley, caramel sweetness, plums, toffee, oak, vanilla, sweet bourbon, very fruity aftertaste, dried apricots, raisins, bit of a spicy alcohol finish, i’m getting some dried cherries aswell. cloves, incredible, very thick and chewy mouthfeel! need to get a few more of these! these will taste even better after a year! very nice barley wine!
4.1 33cl. Bottle. Pours hazy dark ruby brown with no head. Aroma vinous, vanilla, alcohol, dark and red fruits, creamy, port, spice. Taste complex red fruit vanilla poty sweet, no real bitter, a soury hint. Mouthfeel creamy, thick oily. Awesome beer.
3.9 Bottle. Hazy brown, virtually no head. Bourbony vanilla, dark fruityness, butterscotch and dark syrupy notes in aroma. Very nice. Sweet ripe raisins and slightly burning ’n warming vinous notes in taste. Quite smooth mouthfeel. There’s some nutty notes fortunately present, keeping it from not being too cloying. Vanilla is more evident towards the finish. A pleasant sipper.
4.3 Bottle of 33cl, in a Trappist/Snifter glass; room temperature. Very interessting wine/beer... Nice colour, but the beer is not very fuzzy. Great, powerfull aroma of chocolate and porto, with a taste of cherry, xeres and chocolate. Great beer.

4.2 Bottle at oak aged festival. Reddish brown with barely any head. Very sweet malts, whisky, red fruits, stone fruits, vanilla, creamy pudding. Very sweet and full bodied, very nice barley wine.
3.5 Bottle at S&G tasting. APPEARANCE: clear dark blond beer, small unstable white head. NOSE: alcohol, sweet. TASTE: alcohol, sweet, but not much more...
3.7 Aroma of malts, caramel, ripe fruits, bourbon, oak, some alcohol. Flavour is heavy sweet with a rich sweet finish. Dangerously drinkable for its high ABV. Rather sweet, but smooth and enjoyable.
