4.0Mørk gyllen dunkel farve med lite skum. Lukt av malt, karamell og sitrus. Smak av malt, karamell og hint av eple. Melkebaren.
3.8Fin gyllen rødbrun farge. Lite skum. God duft av karamell og malt. God smak av karamell.
3.4Bottle 33 cl. Pours amber in color with a small tan head. Sweet malty notes, dark syrup and dark bread in
aroma. Bready dark malty notes in taste. A bit of dark chocolate too with light yeastyness as well.
3.6Pours a chestnut brown with a large beige head. Aroma is caramel, dates, cooked pineapple. Slightly creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied, bittersweet on the palate, slightly nutty and bitter finish. Taste is dates, raisins, burnt sugar, dried fruits, prunes. Tasty Dopplebock.
3.7Backlog. 33 cl bottle @ home, issue 2006/2007, 8.3%. Dark brown color. Not much head. Aroma’s: roasted, bitterish, sweetish, some acidity. Flavor is roasted, but only lightly sweet. Medium to full body. Short bitter finish, but a remaining mild bitterness.
3.6330 ml bottle - vintage 2011 - pours marroon brown. Malty, nutty aromas with some tofee notes as well. Nicely drinkable, medium body, low carbo.
3.7Testad vid öl och whiskymässan i Göteborg....god men inget extra (fast man har ju stora krav på DeMolen.....
3.2330ml bottle. Pours dark caramel with a thin head. Aroma is burnt toffee, caramel and apple. Taste is malty, mostly caramel with a hint of apple and some cooked veg.
3.5Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; clear dark copper pour with sizeable off white head, roast nut aroma, grainy taste with wet leaves, bready malt action.
3.5March 2013. Bottled Oct 2011. Enduring head as is expected from the De Molens. Smells of spirits and vegetables…I hope the taste doesn’t follow the nose. Taste is caramel malts with a weird semi-sharp vegetable finish. The dodgy aftertaste mellows over time. Salted caramel, malts, raisin. Not much balance to it. Some nice elements, but I’m not impressed overall.
3.5Bottle at Monks Porter House.
Brownish with a creamy white head. Very malty with toffee and dried fruit. Some notes of alcohol and phenols. Not brilliant but tasty enough.
3.5Appearance: Deep amber color with a tan head that leaves some lacing.
Aroma: Balanced and a bit sweet fruity (raisins?).
Palate: Medium body. Slightly sweet and an ok bitterness. Soft carbonation.
Taste: Deep caramel malty and a fine fruity background. Raisins and light spicy.
Overall impression: An unusual fine Dopplebock. Normally no big fan. But this was a nice example.
Personal stats: Bottle as De Molen Dubbelbock from Vinmonopolet Oslo - Vika in Oslo, Norway.
3.6Light brown, blooming beige head. Nose of dry malt. Pleasant malt profile with a medium length and strength hop finish
3.5Hazy amber-orange pour with huge fluffy cream colored head. Aroma of caramel. malts, dough and ripe fruit in the background. Taste of caramel , yeast, dough, malts and a faint hop bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and full bodied.
3.7Bottle @ home, from De Molen. The pour’s deep amber orange with a medium white head. The aroma’s lemon, some spice, deep red fruits. Brown bread maltiness. Some exotic passionfruit. The taste is rich caramel and spice. Chewy fruit gum, some strawberry jam. Mildly toasty. Rich full body, soft carbonation. A real cold weather sipper. Overall, pretty nice stuff.
3.60.33 L bottle as ”De Molen Dubbelbock”. Pours a clear ruby-shaded brown body with a brief ashy-blond head. Rich malt aroma, Nutty, gently roasted with dark bread tones. Full malt body. Sweet, yet clean. Caramel tones, dark bread and nuts, and a fine fruitiness reminiscent of raisis and dates. Balancing bitterness. Healthy body. Soft oily mouthfeel. Clean sweetish malty ending. A well-crafted and tasty true-to-the-type Dopplebock.
3.3Pours a cloudy/muddy copper colour after a few minutes there is absolutely no head. Aromas are malty, toasted, caramel, low fruitiness and slight chocolate. Flavours of caramel, toast, rich maltiness, chocolate, light alcohol warming.
3.0Pours a murky brown color with no head. Aroma of brown sugar, dried fruits, nuts and sweet caramel malts. Taste is nutty with some caramel malt, wood and a slight bitterness on the finish. Very smooth and slick mouth feel for a 7.7 beer.
3.7Clear brown, small beige head. Aroma is roasted malts and black fruit. Taste is black fruit (blackberry), roasted malts, wood, lychees, hop bitterness, caramel malts. Very complex taste, every sip seems to have a new flavour. Makes it a very nice beer to drink.
2.8330ml bottle, as Dubbelbock, at VertsHuset Skarven in friendly company with Loz, her mother, Fin and Finn. Pours a lasting, white head over a cloudy amber coloured body. Nose is mostly malty, semi-sweet and semi-dry. Malty sweetness to the taste buds alongside moments of dried fruits. The alcohol is surprisingly present. Quite possible to drink, however rather disappointing in a De Molen context (Tromsø, 19.01.2013).
3.2Flaske 0,33l som Dubbelbock på vertshuset Skarven 16 Jan 13. Dyp brun. Litt hissig. Veldig høyt luftig skum som varer nesten evig. Danner en skumtopp i midten.Litt lacing. Bra krydderaroma. Smaken er litt fruktig. Mørke plommer. Også litt krydderpreg her. Blir syrlig etter hvert. Tørr bitter avslutning med innslag av tørket frukt.
3.3Bottle at home. The colour is clear amber with a frothy medium light beige head. Medium carbonation. Aromas of roasted almonds, sweet and caramel malt, nuts, oak and fudge, and a touch of dark berries. Sweet and malty flavours of leather, caramel and more oak. A rich and soft mouthfeel, and a surprisingly medium bitterness. A rich and flavourful doppelbock, but I would prefered less bitterness. Would be great with meaty dishes.
3.3Bottle:
No head but an of white beige lacing on top of a hazy dark amber orange colored beer.
Seems a bit carbo less, let’s see:
The aroma’s that I can smell in this beer are as follows: prunes, barleys, ostmeal, hints of wood, raisin and liquorice wood.
Taste prunes, raisin, barleys, bitters, liquor, malts, hint of oatmeal and a soft bitterness. Not much else.
Aftertaste of barley malts with raisin and prune tones and some bitters.
Low carbo, soft light watery mouthfeel, medium body and a texture between watery and creamy.
A bit strange and unbalanced.
3.5Bitterness and honey all over the place. A little disappointed, because this one had been waiting for me in my cellar for some time...
3.633 cl bottle.
Pours brown with almost no foam head, very low carbonation.
When I compare my tasting with other tasting notes (monster foam head etc...) I can say De Molen has difficulties to homogeneize his second fermentation in bottle (strange...)
Anyway, this malty brew is very tasty and respts the Doppel Bock style: very malty, caramel notes and a clean bitterness in aftertaste.
Great beer.
2.5Bottle. Another De Molen cargo-monster. Really lively pour, medium brown, hazy, with a massive golden head. Aroma is plastic phenols and sweet malts, but its tough to get past the plastic. Overhwlmingly bitter and plastic-y, not sweet or warming or malty at all. I think my bottle is well past its prime....
3.10,3 liter fles @home. Mooie "dubbelbock". Een echte winterbock bier.
3.8Small bottle (33 cl). Dark amber, with a monster tan, fast disappearing head. Sweet caramel on the nose. Tastes of caramel and malt. Finish is long and sweet. This is one to sip and savor.
3.733cl. Bottle. (Dubbelbock 2011)
Poors clear/hazy amber with big bubbly head.
Aroma caramel, herbs, medicine?, dark fruits, yeast.
Taste interesting bitter, caramel sweet.
Mouth-feel thin/creamy, lots of carbo (gives it a kick)
Nice doppelbock.
(Edit: After pooring in the yeast. creamy, softer, nicer taste and aroma.)
2.7Deep amber and small film og foam. Aroma of caramel and a weird spicey, medicinal bitterness. Taste is sweet and somewhat fruity. An unusual dobbelbock, and not quite what i expected. Body is medium to light almost.
