3.7Very stouty stout, robust and stubbern aroma and flavour, not the most accessible of stouts. But it's profound.
4.0bottle at home bought from honestbrew.co.uk. I love this beer does have a low carbonation which doesnt make the beer worse. mouthfeel is absolutely brilliant. you dont get a bitter taste in the back of your mouth. feels very smooth tastes great. hides its alcohol very well in fact i hadn't realised that it was 8.8% until I looked at the bottle in more detail.
3.733cl bittle at home. Pours a jetblack colour with a medium brown head with decent retention. Aroma of chocolate, dark malt, roasted malt, dark ripe fruit. Taste is moderate sweet, medium bitter with a moderate dry finish. Notes of vanilla, prunes, raisins, dark malt, roasted malt, slight smoke, candy sugar, chocolate. Texture is oily, medium to full bodied with soft carbonation
3.7Bottle. Pours deep opaque black with a large, staying, creamy beige head. Aroma has sweet malts, roasted, chocolate. Low carbonation, fine dry and quite creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has roasted malts, licorice, light salty, chocolate, fairly astringent. Quite fine, really, but a bit rough.
3.5330 ml bottle. BB 18/05/2018.
Dark reddish brown color with a small tan head.
Oily aroma with coffee and roasted malt.
The flavor is licorice, sweetness, roasted malt and dryness. Quite thin... but tasty nevertheless.
3.4On draft at Doerack in Delft. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of toasted malt. Flavors of cocoa and leather. Bitter roast finish.
3.8A malty smell, some milk chocolate, a soft aroma of coffee. The small beige foamy head has a short duration, the body is black, The taste is very strong, malt (black bread) and coffee, a soft touch of bitter chocolate. The body is strong, very creamy and light oily during the finish with a soft carbonation.
4.033 cl bottle. Served in snifter. Poured black with three finger tan head. Aroma: roasted coffee beans, chocolate, vanilla, dark fruit, licorice. Taste: roasted coffee beans, milk chocolate, vanilla, salty licorice, soy sauce, molasses, dark fruit, roasted nuts. Very creamy mouthfeel. Pretty sweet. Medium to full body with a roasted bittersweet finish. Very good RIS!
3.8On tap at Van Moll pub. Pours murky dark brown. Nose is sweet molasses, liquorice, toffee, roast. Tastes similar, bittersweet finish. Nice.
4.00.33 l bottle from ’Danny’s Drankshop’, bottled in July 2014, kept for two years in my cellar. Pitch black with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, light brown head. Sweetish-malty, moderately roasty and minimally fruity aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, toasted nuts and hints of dark fruits. Sweetish-malty, quite roasty and a bit fruity taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, tobacco, some hazelnut and hints of dark fruits, followed by a medium long, rather roasty-bitter and quite fruity finish. Medium to full body, creamy and slightly viscid mouthfeel, soft to average carbonation. Really nice RIS, a bit rough still but with great flavours and a pleasant enough mouthfeel. Good!
4.1deep daark brown colour, half inch, extremely dense and stable brownish head; aroma of dark chocolate, herbal and dried fruity (plum) notes and burnt wood; taste is dominated by roasted bitterness with coffee, herbal liqueur notes, hints of tropical fruits and some tannin-like notes; not bad, though the taste is less complex than expected from an imperial stout
3.5Bottle 33cl. Pours dark brown, beige head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, citrusy hops, some alcohol. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Taste is medium sweet, chocolate, coffee, raspberries, hoppy, some apples, hints of alcohol. Decent stout.
3.2Een lekkere zachte stout die vrij veel zoet heeft. Dat is het mooie van deze, hij heeft het droge en Wat koffie achtige van een stout maat ook het zachte en zoete van een rijke dubbel. Lekker biertje.
3.7Quite good, bit fluffy, yellowish-beige head over deep ruby-shot black-brown beer. Roasted, sweetish bitterish smelling. Coffee, herbs, meatroast, bit mineral. Bitter (hoppy and roasted) with sweet treacle and maltsyrup underneath. Again meatroast - even Maillard? Some bitter chocolate, with dried dark fruit. Quite well-bodied, viscous-slick, dry despite the sweetness. Good strong stout. Not to be compared with US or Scandinavian Imperial Stouts, but good in its own right, which is something that cannot be said of a couple of bene so-called IRS..
3.8Een lekkere russian imperial stout. In het palet vechten koffie, hout en rozijnen om de winst. Daarom is het een prima harmonie van smaken en aroma’s. Alcohol niet duidelijk aanwezig, het lijkt een licht bier.
3.5Bottle, thanks rayaron. Brown blackBrown black with a big beige head.Aroma of coffee, vanilla, caramel, milk chocolate, coconut and alcohol.
Sweet with notes of coffee, vanilla, cocoa, prunes, roasted grains, a bit acidic. Medium bodied, too fizzy. Gets better with a time.
3.7Bottle at home. Somehow never rated this before. Black with small short lasting light brown head. Lots of roasted grains, toast, black berries, roasted barley, molasses, brown sugar, light ash. Quite sweet with a nicely balanced bitterness. Full bodied with a bit slick feel with quite some soft but fizzy carbonation. Decent beer.
3.8Goed gelukte irs. Niet al te heftig en mooi in balans. Zwart met caramel schuim.
3.1Bottle shared at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Maakun for the bottle. Opaque brown with huge brown head. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate and herbs. Very bitter flavor, alcoholic, some roastiness, notes of herbs and some vegetables. Full-bodied. Not exactly an IS but still ok.
3.8Bottle 33cl. Opaque dark brown with – against the light – a ruby hue, large creamy tan head, good retention, thick lacing; aroma is roasted malts, coffee, dried dark fruits, cocoa, some licorice, earthy notes; taste is medium sweet and bitter, malty, chocolate, with long duration, bittersweet finish, spicy notes, chocolate tones; full-bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation; overall a rather good Imperial Stout.
3.4Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks rayaron. Black with a tan head. Roasty aroma with coffee, some dark fruits. Roasty flavor, sweet and slightly bitter, with roast, coffee, chocolate, some dark fruits. Rather full-bodied, well-carbonated. Nice.
3.6A nice RIS, that does not have as full of a body as the others I have had. The taste balances between sweet, bitter and coffeetones, with a nice bitter aftertaste.
3.4Bottled, thanks (Euro trade, was it Benzai? Or someone equally kind...) Dark brown, mid sized beige head. Aroma of coffee and bread. Mid sweet with medium-full body and rounded mouthfeel. Caramel and coffee. Low bitterness. Mellow, but not very distinct.
3.8Bottle 33 cl. Pours a dark brown with a medium beige head and an aroma of dark chocolate, espresso, herbs, roasted malts, overripe cherries and peanuts. The taste is medium sweet, with some bitterness somewhere in the finish, but not too much. Nice beer!
