4.0 Bottle at home. This beer has lively carbonation. It has a haze to the beer. It has a fruity taste but is nice and sour
4.7 Very good sour beer, with a green apple and pineapple flavor, and a refreshing summer drink.
3.8 Bottle - 750ml. Pour a beautiful, cloudy, golden body with a fading, white foamy head. Fresh, robust malty/hoppy taste with yeasty, fruity, and oaky hints. Its sharp malty/hoppy taste carries yeasty, oaky, flowery, and citrusy notes. Ends with a long sour finish. Good stuff.
3.8 750 ml bottle at home. Pours a nearly clear dark golden with a white head. The aroma is medium funky and woody - leather, horse blanket, some tart berries. Medium body with an average carbonation, a light acidity and a light tartness - well balanced. The flavor is similar to the smell with mild leathery funk, quiet some wood, mellowed tart and lightly acidic berries, hints of white wine and faint citric notes. Finishes dry, woody with a light tartness. Overall very smooth not super complex and intense but well balanced with a good drinkability. Aroma: 8 Appearance: 4 Taste: 7 Mouthfeel: 4 Overall: 15
4.0 Shared bottle at RB/HD on board Fridtjofen 28.06.19. Hazy straw colour. Acid aroma and taste of tropical fruits and citrus. Dry and astringent mouthfeel.
4.2 Shared 750 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV 7.0%. Deep golden to orange colour, white head. Lovely aroma of brettanomyces / farmhouse, white wine vinegar and mild spicy notes. Funky flavour with brettanomyces notes.
3.6 Shared bottle at Joffen. Pours hazy weak golden weak head. Aroma is light fruity , weak funky malts. Taste is light sour/acidic , gooseberries and some weak bitter fruit stones
4.0 Cloudy copper color, white cap. Cheesy lambic funk, barn, lemon on the nose and palate. Didn;t realize this was 99/98 so it was better than expected!
4.1 Pours a cloudy, dark golden amber coloration with a small, foamy head. Smells of biscuity malt, mild, cheesy funk, lemon peel, apricot, white grape and green apple with just a hint of oaky tannins. Taste follows the nose, with a great balance of light biscuity malt, mild cheesy funk, light/medium tartness and acidity and notes of lemon peel, apricot, white grape, green apple and just a hint of oaky tannins, with the dry, somewhat vinous, white grape notes standing out particularly. Finishes quite dry, with a light/medium tartness and some white grape and green apple notes lingering in the aftertaste. This tastes exactly what you might expect a 70% Sour Ale and 30% Lambic blend to taste like. While it's not too complex, there is a subtle depth to it and it just has a fantastic, smooth and mellow balance of tartness and acidity, with mild funk and a wonderful, dry white wine character supplemented very nicely by some mild oaky tannins and fruity notes of apricot and green apple. A fantastic, easy-drinking and refreshing summer beer with a subtle complexity.
3.9 From the SAQ bières d,exception from Fall 2018, ni we complex beer, I don’t have the nose for its but can appreciate the sourness and nice blend.
3.6 Pours golden coloured with nice head. Aroma: peaches, nice funk, a lot of green pepper. Taste: funky, peppery, with a nice touch of honey.
3.8 Bottle at home. Bottled November 2017. Pours a slightly hazy light amber colour with a very small off-white head. Aroma of gooseberries, apricots, oak, cloves, lemon juice, horse and apple cider vinegar. Sour flavour of lemon juice, vinegar, spruce, oak and barnyard. spicy underones.Has a slick and soft mouth feel, medium body and light bitterness. Sour and tasteful. I think one more year could improve the beer even more. Solid sour ale anyway.
3.5 Bottle from SAQ shared with Seb A: light woody, light funk, a touch green apple, vinous. Blue cheese. App: hazy copper smallish white head. T/p: thin to med body with med to long acidic finish. Moderate carbonation. O; not bad but it feels a little astringent. Good level of funk
4.0 Casamia
3.6 Taster at Weathered. Appearence: hazy blonde Aroma: funky, gueuze-ish Taste: similar, quite dry Body: medium Overall: good
3.9 Bottle, bottled november 2016. Color: Hazy amber, off-white head. Aroma: Sourish, fruity, some funk and some hop. Taste: Pretty complex mix of moderate to medium sweet and sour and moderate hopbitter flavours. Refreshing. Fruity with hints of grapes, citrus, apple and lightly peach. Wild yeast funk notes. Light wood notes. Dry-ish mouthfeel. Less tart and somewhat more hoppy than the Gueuzes I know. Pretty short finish, but that's ok. Medium to over medium body, below average carbonation. Another very nice beer from De Ranke.
3.8 07.03.2015, 0,75l bottle @ home: Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sour-ish dry, oak, sour grass, weeds, minerals, sorrel, grain, old rope, sour berries skin. Taste is slightly sour-ish, sorrel, minerals, oak, hay, unripe sour berries, old rope, grass, weeds. Medium bitterness, slightly sour-ish and mineraly mouthfeel. Nice.
2.4 Couleur ambrée voilée. Mousse inexistante.
3.9 Shared 2016 bottle. Unclear orange beer, minimal white head. Aroma of lemon, apricot, berries, white wine, funk, leather, light wood. Taste is very light sweet, medium+ sour, lemon, apricot, berries, white wine, leather. Fruity and light tart finish. Light to medium body, soft to average carbonation. Very good, drinkable, fruity and wild sour ale.
4.5 From tap at the brewery as Cuvée de Ranke Vintage 2016, Pours clear golden liquid, small white frothy head, Aroma: very nice sour wil tart, slightly sweetish, Taste: loght to medium sweet, light to medium bitter, heavy sour, funky wild, brett, Palate: medium body, average carbonation, slick mouthfeel, long soir wild aftertaste, Overall: very good, excellent, enjoyed.
4.1 Tap at Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Pours slightly hazy gold, nice lacing. Funky sour aroma. Woody, earthy, medium to high acidic sourness. Long lasting finish. A nice woody sour beer, I get the Girard
4.2 750 ml bottle wrapped in paper, EXP: 07/06/21. Hazy amber body, medium to small head. Pleasantly tart Lambic aroma with some rustic barnyard but also white wine aspects. Nice full body (as opposed to the relative thinness of pure Lambics). Refreshingly tart flavour with the nice parts of sour Lambic combined with a fuller mouthfeel of maltier ales. It's a fantastic blend of two different beers. I think this is what a pale Rodenbach would taste like. Brewers should release more blends of their beers.
3.4 Semi hazy liquid, average head. Sour aroma. Light body, little bit carbonation. Taste is sour.
3.9 Bottle at home. Clear amber body with a medium offwhite head. Brett, citrus, fruity, apples, barnyard, yeast. Well balanced. Good.
3.8 Ar: sour malt, fruity Ap: copper, minimal head T: med tartness, med sweetness P: med body, long finish
