De Ryck Steenuilke

"Little Owl", a blond beer for quiet tasting created in collaboration with the Regionaal Landschap Vlaamse Ardennen (Flemish Ardennes Regional Landscape conservation board) and the Little Owl Project Leader to support the Little Owl project. To emphasise our regional identity and the links to this little creature, it includes carefully selected herbs and spices from the Flemish Ardennes. These give the beer a unique, full bodied aroma and taste and one will soon make you want more. 16°

3.0 Hazy golden with a thin white head. Yeasty aroma and taste, gently bitter. Quite drinkable.

3.8 Blonde orangée légèrement voilée surmontée d’une belle mousse blanche crémeuse, col très bien calibré. Nez très « belge » : malté miellé, parfum levuré épicé, banane mûre, amande, frangipane. Très gourmand. Bouche ronde dominée à l’attaque par la douceur maltée, miellée. C’est moelleux, ce que renforce encore la banane mûre. Goût biscuité, pâtissier. Les notes levurées, outre la banane, sont légèrement épicées. Un côté herbacé équilibre la bouche qui termine sur une finale douce et épicée de longueur moyenne. Corpulence moyenne à épaisse, carbonatation moyenne. Blonde belge très classique, parfaitement équilibrée, proche de la Triple, belle rondeur pour l’ABV. Le biais épicé est discret.

3.7 Bottle from FinestBelgianBeers. Pours a murky golden colour with a huge throthy white head. Nice lacing. Aromas of bananas, apples, pears, herbs, a little spice and hints of bubblegum and floral. Taste is fairly similar to the aroma with a slight grassy hop bitterness on the finish. Lightish body, average carbonation on the palate and a fairly long fruity and grassy hop aftertaste. Pretty good.

3.2 Home. 75 cl bottle. BB may 2019. Starts with some gushing.. White foam layer on a gold yellow clear beer. Aroma is what sweet with yellow fruit, Somewhat grassy, light spicy. Taste is sweet with yellow frui (Apple, peach, apricot). Light bitter in the aftertaste is also coming up. Sticky. Full body.

3.0 Helder blond met grote witte schuimkraag. Geur: mout, licht kruidig, gistkarakter. Smaak: licht zoet, wat karamel, kruidig en droog. Romig mondgevoel. Goede koolzuurprikkel. Afdronk: licht bitter.

3.2 Bottle from Belgibeer. Light gold with a full head. Aroma of light yeast and fruit. Flavour is wheat, fruit and grain on a yeast citrus finish.

3.2 Draft at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours fairly transparent intense gold with persistent white foam, very fine. Aroma is generally Belgian-sweet, with fruit and honey. Body is fairly dense with good carbonation. Taste is definitely sweet, with limited bitterness. Finish is average.

3.7 Fresh, some depth, some spice, refreshing, nice and pretty 'easy' Belgium beer. Good for drinking in the afternoon on a sunny terrace. As I just did ;)

3.4 Pours hazy yellow with thick white head. Nose is spicy. Aromas are fruits, bubble gum, spices. Medium carbonation, average body. Medium bitter, sweet and spicy finish.

3.6 Aspérule odorante, angélique et prunelle. Voici les herbes intégrées dans cette Steenuilke et qui la rendent très spécifique avec un présence épicée très présentes en bouche. Cette De Ryck est cependant trop déséquilibrée avec une acidité trop présente, un alcool pas bien intégré et un sucre légèrement surdosé pour être aboutie. En verre nous sommes sur un blond doré parfaitement limpide (EBC aux alentours de 21) surmonté d'une mousse blanc cassée crémeuse de 3 cm environ. Le nez se positionne d'emblée sur les épices accompagnées d'agrumes et d'une pointe de miel. L'attaque également se positionne sur les épices, cependant avec une petite acidité et des arômes citronnés, celle-ci n'est pas entièrement équilibrée. La deuxième bouche est dans la continuité, avec une amertume légèrement plus prononcée et un alcool se faisant un brin plus présent. L'arrière bouche est quant à elle peu intéressante, sur le biscuit et légèrement épicé. La troisième bouche monte alors sur l'alcool avant un final relativement long avec un alcool faisant plus que son titrage de 6,5 % Abv, des épices très prégnantes et une acidité de trop importante. Avec une complexité au rendez-vous il est vraiment dommage de ne pas avoir une base brassicole davantage maîtrisée.

3.3 Tap @ Trollekelder, Gent. Hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, yeasty and light fruity. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish. Good drinkability. 170317

3.3 Heel degelijke blond. Ietwat droog, fris met duidelijke tonen van hop zonder te bitter te zijn. Lekker bier.
