Deschutes Black Butte XXVIII

Deschutes Black Butte XXVIII

Every year, we celebrate our anniversary with an imperial, barrel-aged version of our flagship Black Butte Porter. Our brewers love to experiment and they always add some fun new ingredients to this beer like chilies, cranberries, figs and other such treats. This year, to celebrate 28 years of brewing, they’ve added the interesting mix of ingredients above for another multi-layered flavor experience.

3.8 Bottle. It poured a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of dark fruits, coffee, molasses, toasted malts and caramel. The taste was similar to the aroma with more dark fruits, coffee, molasses, toasted malts, caramel with medium carbonation and a nice chewy aftertaste. Another good year.
A XXIX-es verzióhoz képest számomra sokkal szimpatikusabb, kiforrottabb, határozottabb karakter.

The body is medium/full, the texture creamy, the carbonation lively and the finish long. Very good!! The slower you drink it the better it is, good flavors, great taste and excellent body.

A bit of peat and whisky on the aroma as well. Taste is sweet, cocoa, spice and a bit of ethanol flavor in the background. Possibly from the barrels. Very smooth and very decent. Medium body, medium carbonation.

3.8 11/9/2016 -- from notes: Tap sample at Brass Tap. Nice fig fruitiness, dark chocolate, touch of light roast. Moderate-plus bittersweet, light heat. Good heavy chewy body. Little vanilla. Delicious. Rich, but great for a small sample.
4.1 Sample at the "Black Friday 03" tasting on 11/24/2017. Black pour with a medium foamy dark beige head that diminishes gradually to a film. Patches of lace on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and dark fruit. Full-bodied with flavors of charred malt, cocoa, fruit and vanilla. The finish is roasty and oaky with a malt and dark fruit aftertaste. Good beer overall.
4.1 Bottle share in Lodz. Aroma is dark chocolate, sweet orange. Nicely balanced, orange is strongly present, barrel is there but in the background.
4.5 Piana kremowa drobna zdobi szkło, kolor czarny.
4.6 Another fantastic annual offering. Bomber pulled from the cellar. Dark chocolate pour with mild carbonation that settles out. Aroma of chocolate, booze, vanilla, orange, & peated malt. Taste mimics the aroma identically, extremely smooth, great mouthfeel. Premier barrel aged beer.
4.2 It is nice, very nice, 650ml bottle. Pour is lovely aroma is bitter chocolate orange. Taste is quite intense with noticeable alcohol, The layers of orange and that cocoa are lovely, giving way to a quite bitter and unfinished finish.
4.6 Pours deep brown with medium tan head. Nose is hugely complex: dark roasted malts, charred oak, caramelized orange peel, brown sugar, vanilla and discrete whiskey. And so is the taste: sweet caramels and malts upfront, doubled by scotch/bourbon-soaked oak barrel. Bittery and smokey character in the aftertaste. Low carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel. Full bodied. Wow, just wow.
4.0 On tap at Black Friday. Clear deep dark brown. Medium roast and barrel flavors. Carmel toasted malts and smooth feel. Some chocolate notes as well.
