Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale

Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale

This is base camp, where any craft brew exploration begins. A distinct hop nose and hop-forward flavor make Mirror Pond the quintessential Pale Ale. It is aromatically complex, multi-layered, and unmistakably “right.”

2.0 I kinda like the flavors in this beer, but it's too carbonated. It tastes like a good beer was mixed into a seltzer. Not a fan.
3.4 Early rating from Beer Buddy app
3.5 On draught at Canter!s Jewish Deli on Fairfax, near Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles. Medium gold colour with a white head. The taste medium hoppy with Pilsner-style malts. Good aroma of German malts, and a dry-ish earthy finish. Good mouthfeel. A decent Pale Ale
3.3 Fat @ Fior D'Ítalia, SF. Lätt disig bärnstensfärgad öl med ett vitt skum. Doft och smak av malt, grapefrukt, frukt och gräs.
3.6 Many thanks to kappldav123 for sharing! Great fruity nose. The beer starts intense floral fruity, moderate bitter with a nice round and refreshing back. Sessionable with moderate bitterness. Fruity and dry bitter in the end.
3.6 Can, pours dark orange clear. Medium body. Aroma is sweet orange and hops, taste is citrus and pine, finish is fruity with bitter edge.
3.7 355ml can, free beer from our Airbnb fridge, Portland. Pours a misty golden amber, good frothy off-white head. Aroma of fruity orange citrus, pine, grapefruit. Taste continues along similar lines, gentle bitterness. Nice, well-rounded fruity piney pale.
2.5 Inoffensive. A bit like a okanagan springs
3.2 Huge thanks to my wife for bringing this one home from her trip to the US. Can looks good. Beer in the glass dark golden, small head. Nice hoppy fruity aroma. Starts mild, malty, light sweetish. More and more fruity with notes of peaches, some apricot. Finish more dry, light bitter. Spicy-malty aftertaste. Fruity notes could be more intense. Okay.
3.5 On tap it pours to an nice dark orange with head and lacing. Smells of biscuit, light hop, coolie. Tastes about the same. Surprisingly amber tasting. Slight fuzzed biscuit and burnt caramel after taste

3.6 It pours light amber with a white head. Head retention is good. It has aromas of citrus and pine. There are low levels of stone fruit, apricot, in the background. There are low levels of grainy sweetness. There is a bready backbone with pine and stone fruit with a low level of cherry sweetness to it. It has a medium body with moderate carbonation and a fairly smooth finish. Overall, the aroma is mostly dominated by the hops, but the bread and fruit esters are more balanced in the taste.
3.6 Bronze with a clear appearance.Small head.Slightly hoppy with a trace of fruitiness. Pleasant but nothing out of the ordinary unless I tried a 'rogue' bottle. Why is it so highly rated? A new brewery for me.
3.2 Found out of bottle from a variety pack. Appealing golden color with quick foam. Decent hops, with a malty back. Better than average for the style.
4.0 12 oz. bottle poured into a tall, chilled glass. Deschutes has always produced solid, west-coast style beers with a hop-forward palate and enough malt to balance the bite. Mirror Pond PA is no exception to this tradition. From the pure waters of the Cascade Mts, to the hop vines of Eastern Oregon; this brew is the very essence of Bend in a bottle!
4.0 After years of not returning to this iconic ale, bought a sixer, and whoa! good stuff. Love the old school hop - malt balance. This is one Pale Ale that would never be mistaken for an IPA. Loads of deliciousness for a 5% abv. Great sippper, with flavor coming thru even at cold temperatures. Points out to me of why Deschutes has been so successful over the decades.

3.3 On tap at Nickeldime drafthouse, Singapore on 4-Nov-18, served in a shaker. Slightly hazy pale amber with a medium sized white head. Aroma of malt, fruit and pine. Light to medium body and carbo action. Taste of sweet malt, perfume, orange and hops. Light bitterness- subtle and easy to drink. A little too perfumed for me.
3.8 The caramel malty backbone is accompanied by a very funky grapefruit essence. It’s very good. Leaves a nice warm feeling. This would be a great beer for an autumn day.
4.0 A Pale Ale is a Pale Ale, but being from Deschutes you know it will be good. Nice light sweetness & hop flavors, much better than the commercial pale ales available.
3.7 Still one of the better pale ales I’ve tasted.
3.2 Can 8 oz from Target, Portland. This is a rather plain Cascade Pale Ale. A bit funky, some sweetness in the taste. Not very memorable apart from acually finding yeast residue in it - a bit unusual for a canned beer.
3.4 Im Geruch malzig leicht Hopfen, im Geschmack recht süffig citrus Hopfen kräftige malznote
3.3 355ml bottle into shaker. Pours a slightly hazy bronze colour with a large creamy head. Fine carbonation with a few floaties. Fresh lemon zest nose with a hint of doughy malt. Light body, smooth texture with bitter taste. Finish is bitter lemon with underlying malt. Late dry peppery hops and liquorice add interest and balance. Nice well-balanced APA.
3.3 麥芽甜 酒花微苦 18/07/16@啤啤
3.2 355 ml bottle, poured into a pint glass. Appearance is a hazy dull copper orange, topped with one finger of off-site froth which recedes quickly but is regenerated by swirling with some lacing. Aroma is muted, floral hops mainly and malt, with little or no fruitiness. Taste is similar, piney grassy bitter fairly prominent over sweetish malt notes. Medium bodied, gets a bit thinner towards the end, but helped by average carbonation.
2.2 12 oz can bought in Austin, TX. Pours a clear amber color with a khaki head and poor retention. Minimal lacing. Hoppy nose. Typical bittering hops pale ale flavor. No different than all the rest. Caramel malts get lost in the 40 IBU.
2.9 On tap @ Founders Festival (Madrid). Coppery color, white head. Aroma: malty, moderate bitterness. Flavor: oxidated hops, slightly grapefruit. Must try again.
3.3 On tap. @Founders Madrid Beer & Music Fest 03/06/2018 Color ambarino corona de espuma blanca, aromas a cereal y malta, sabor maltosa, cuerpo medio.
