Deschutes Pacific Wonderland

Deschutes Pacific Wonderland

We’ve always believed the best way to respect tradition is to brew the unexpected. So when we set out to create a sessionable lager befitting of the Pacific Northwest, our sense of exploration led us to this dry-hopped wonder befitting of everyday adventure. Citrusy Tettnang Mandarina hops combine with the crisp, bright character of a traditional lager to deliver a beer that is truly refreshing, and undoubtedly worth sharing.

3.6 Deschutes Pacific Wonderland pours a hazy golden color and sports a small white head with some lacing. The hops aren't overpronounced so as to mask the charming pilsner malt character in the nose while adding pleasant citric and herbal New World noble notes to it, The attack is quite bready and lagerly fat, is followed by a mid-palate of earthy and citirc hops of mild to medium bitterness and finishes on a snappy note. A well rounded brew.
2.9 Taste: citrus, fruit, dry hops, slight bitter crisp and chewy finish. Herbal floral grain nose. Straw color hue, mostly clear, with white head and some lace. Medium body. Juicy hop forward.
3.3 Something to drink on a hot day. Gold colour with thin white head. Light hop and grass aroma. Flavour is malt with grass and citrus strips. Crisp short finish.
3.6 Drinkable lager that is clean and fresh with some nice floral fruity hops..
3.4 On tap @ Founders Festival (Madrid). Golden, white head. Aroma: pale malts, straw notes. Flavor: slightly malty, some bready hints.
3.5 On tap. @Founders Madrid Beer & Music Fest 03/06/2018 Color amarillo corona de espuma blanca, aromas a cereal con notas herbales, sabor cereal ligeramente especiado, cuerpo ligero.
3.7 Bottle. It pours a clear pale yellow color with a thin white head and lacing. The aroma is malty with notes of citrus and grass in the flavor. The taste is sly sweet up front with a light bitter aftertaste. Very nice.festival foods - Green Bay
3.3 Draft @ Yard House - Las Vegas (Town Square), Las Vegas, NV. Pours a slightly hazy yellow golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty grainy weak grassy hoppy aroma. Fruity malty grainy grassy hoppy flavor. Has a fruity malty grainy grassy hoppy finish.
3.0 12 oz. can, consumed on 4-8-18. “Best by 05/30/18.” Pours a pale, clear brass with a large amount of cream-colored to beige head. Uneven, thick, fluffy head. Head is excessive in quantity. Produces pretty good, thick lacing. Scents of apple juice, lemon juice, lemonade, and limeade. Sweetly malty smell. Somewhat dry, juicy, and floral flavor. A bit beery in flavor. Just not a lot to the taste. I was expecting an India Pale Lager, but this is more of a premium lager with some citric hops presence but not a particularly hoppy beer. Lightly bitter aftertaste. Light body. Soft in the palate. Decent and easy to drink but mediocre across the board. Disappointing release from a usually good brewery. 6.3.6.3.12=>3.0
3.7 Nice traditional lager. Very citrusy and refreshing beer. Great for mowing the lawn or camping.
2.9 Pours hazy light gold. Scent is standard of a lager with a hint of lemon. Taste is surprising strong hops with lemon, and grass as supporting flavors. Finishes with some hop spice and lemon tang. Is one of the best lagers I have had, partly because it tastes more like an IPA than a lager.
3.7 On tap, Sharkeys Radford and Deschutes, Roanoke. Golden, slight haze, nice head, appears unfiltered. Aroma is sweet malt, quality German hops. Hop aroma is fairly subdued, no pushy dry hop action, but well done. Taste is malt, sweet cereal, balanced bitterness. No diacetyl or DMS I can find, a clean, well made all-malt lager. Germans could drink this. I’m not sure Pacific wonderland befits German hop lager, but I won’t argue with a very nice beer. I’d like to rate it higher but it’s very good, not great.
3.5 A nice refreshing beer. Malty cereal and grain aromas and flavours. A nice hoppy finish. Good stuff.
3.7 Into a snifter, chilled. Hazy, pastel, yellow-gold body with very little life evident. Head is a steady, half inch of rocky, tight, white foam that leaves a messy lace. Nose hints at lemon verbena, candied pear, damp fern leaves, chaff, green tea leaves and bitter gourd - very nice, clean. Quite sprightly on the palate. Very light and ceding up a sour, lemon citrus flavour that retards the tongue a little and draws instantly on the saliva glands. Powdery, dry, gritty malt builds and lingers long between sips. Moderately bitter and herbal back-end drops off to a crisp, clean finish. The citrus is dominant, though, making each sip spring the palate into life like a Berliner weisse bier would. Lemon and faint orange envelope all other nuances. I like it. Very refreshing, clean and quaffable. Could sit on this all day. A nice lager. (35,5cL, Bottled 07/08/17, 1st Choice Liquor, Riverton)
3.3 355ml bottle into schooner glass. Hazy amber beer with crown of foam on top. High fine carbonation. Light aroma of lemon, earth, and malt. Surprisingly light body, hints of grapefruit and pine. Finish is dank and earthy. Nice, well made but perhaps too much going on to be truly refreshing.
3.0 pours a clear golden yellow color. not brilliantly clear. aroma is citrus hops and grain. this didn't have the super light body of a larger I was looking for.
3.2 2nd beer of the day, 31st Dec 2017; poured into a La Chouffe stemmed tulip glass at my daughters in California. Clear and clean golden body, snow white head that tried to hang around for a while. Light citrus esters play with the malty aroma and the same happens in the taste, there is a malty lead tempered with a mild citrus leaning which leaves a little bitterness in the finish. An easy drinking Lager, both refreshing and thirst quenching.
3.1 Pours a clear golden yellow with a bubbly white head. Smell is cereal grain and hops. It has a good malt flavoring with lemon and grass notes. The crisp bitterness makes this more difficult to drink than other lagers.
3.6 Bottle: Clear gold with a tall white head. Grain, mild lemon/orange aroma. Taste is light.....grain malt, citrus....a tingle of zest. Really easy drinking and full flavoured. Very enjoyable.
3.0 355ml bottle. Pours a pale and clear straw gold. Aroma: straw, mild sweet and biscuity malt notes. Taste: straw, mild biscuity malt, pepper, citrus and very mild peach favours. Thin bodied. Mild flavoured. Mild spiciness at the back end of the palate. Easy to drink and pleasant but quit mild flavoured for a 5.5%beer. Nice but a bit dull.
2.9 12floz bottle, BBD:01.23.2018, $1.75 unit cost, pint glass. The body is a very pale gold, and is topped with a white head. Smells include: cereal grains, general herbs, grass, and lemon notes. Bitterness is moderate, but it is more of the abrasive sort that dampens the drinkability of this beer. Tastes like soured grains with black table pepper mixed in. Meh.
2.9 Poured a slightly hazy gold with a one- to two-finger bright white dense foam head that retained very well and laced OK. Carbonation moderate to high, lively and medium to coarse. Aroma of malt and grain. Taste is subtle of citrus (lemon, orange) and hints of zest; very low bitterness, too low for an IPL. Light body. Smooth with a short lager-like finish. Easy drinking and ordinary.
3.0 Pours a very bright golden with a thin white head with little retention. Nose is slight citrus and grainy lager. Taste is clean, grainy with a mild bitter citrus finish. Very clean lager with mild hop flavour. Crushable
2.0 Bottle from variety pack. Was expecting something great but it fell way short. Had a strange bubblegum note that I was not a fan of.
3.5 From bottle in tapered shaker. Pours bright gold almost fluorescent yellow with frothy white head and lemon citrus aroma. Refreshing taste, not as bitter in the finish as I expected for an IPL.
3.2 Fun looking bottle. A nice beer but nothing that makes it stand out apart from the label
3.4 12 ounce bottle. Pours a mostly clear pale gold with a nice white head. Aroma of malt, grain, and grass. Taste is malt, grain, grass, and a touch of citrus. Nice one.
3.1 Pours a clear golden yellow from the bottle with bubbly white head that leaves light lace. Aroma of mild citrus and grassy hop notes over light grain. Taste is more malty and clean lager esters. I guess it's dry hopped, so call it an IPL, but it's pretty light on the hops, and they're German. Meh.
3.3 Bottle at home, all alone. Grassy, bready aromas. Clean simple lager with some grain, citrus, and grassy hops. I'd call it a Helles.
3.4 bottle. golden with one finger head. light grassy body, crisp hopped up lager. mainly citrus. easy drinking.
